ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 . riTIHE regular [ meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Chorlton-cum-Hardy , JL on Friday , 7 th inst ., Bro . I . R . E . Birkett W . M . The principal business of the evening was an address on the five noble orders of Architecture , delivered by Bro . W . T . Hesketh P . M . Secretary , and a consideration of the question of a Ladies' night . After discussion , it was decided that on the evening of the December meeting Ladies should be invited , and a Committee was formed for carrying out the arrangements . Judging from previous gatherings of a like nature this is likely to be a

The retiring Master Bro . James Barton occupied the chair , and was supported by a number of Brethren and Visitors .

Bro . E . Wickens vvas installed in the chair of King Solomon by Bro . Geo . Wilson P . M . P . P . G . D ., assisted by Bro . E . Corris P . M . P . P . G . R . After this ceremony the Board of Installed Masters was closed , and the Brethren saluted the newly enthroned Master in the three degrees . Bro . J . W . Tindell P . M . P . P . G . D . presented a Past Master ' s jewel , suitably inscribed , to the retiring Master , and expressed the sincere regard

felt by the Brethren towards Bro . James Barton , who very early in his Masonic career had worthily reached the highest position the Lodge could bestow . He hoped tbe Immediate Past Master would still continue to take as great an interest in the Lodge as in the past , and that he would be spared for many years to wear the gold jewel which the Brethren had contributed , and of which he now asked his acceptance .

Bro . James Barton I . P . M ., in thanking the Brethren , said he had endeavoured to carry out the onerous duties of his office to the best of his ability , and if his efforts had been successful generally it was very gratifying to himself . Their jewel would constantly remind him of the kindness received at the De la Pole—if , indeed , any such reminder was necessary . He trusted the kind Blasonic feeling which had prompted the Brethren to subscribe so liberally for the jewel would continue to exist between them , for manv years .

The Immediate Past Master proposed the W . M . and Officers . He had had the privilege of being acquainted with the Worshipful Master some considerable tirne , and he had a great trait in his character of thoroughness ; everything he had undertaken had always been thoroughly done . Brother

Wickens , ho was sure , would carry out the duties of his rather onerous office thoroughly , at the same time with zeal . With the assistance of his Officers and the co-operation of the Past Masters , success would further attend the De la Pole Lodge , and Freemasonry be the better for his having occupied tha chair .

The Worshipful Master , in response , tendered his thanks for the hearty support accorded him by his Brethren and the many visitors present . One thing he could say , he had the self-consciousness of knowing he had always endeavoured to do his duty as a Mason . He took no pride in stating this , as the primary watchword of every Mason ought to be " duty . " He was proud

of their good opinion as evinced by his election to the chair . He should call " a spade a spade " if any necessity arose for it , but he had a sincere love for the welfare of every member of the Lodge , and he would uphold the honour aud prestige of tho De la Pole and promote harmony and brotherly love as exemplified in their relationships with the sister Lodges .

BURRELL LODGE , No . 1829 . r FIHK installation mooting was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on JL Thursday , 6 th inst ., when Bro . W . P . Smith was installed as W . M . by his predecessor Bro . J . Olliver , a very large number of Brethren , 153 iu alla record attendance for Brighton—being present . The W . M . appointed his Officers as follow : E . Rusbridgo S . W ., H . W . Butler J . W ., H . W . Bedford Treas ., J . T . Rusbridge Sec , J . Lewis S . D ., C . E . Chatiield J . D ., F . P . Collins D . C , G . Short I . G ., W . N . The W . M . presided at the banquet which was subsequentl y held , and was most enthusiastically received by the Brethren .

CENTURION LODGE , No . 2322 . npHE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on _ L Monday , 3 rd inst ., Bro . Major T . W . Ashworth W . M . After the reading and confirmation of minutes Bro . Captain Thomas Parker jun . was passed to tho degree of a F . C , this ceremony bein <* succeeded by the raising to the sublime degree of Brother Captain Arthur Wall .

CRYSTAL PALACE LODGE , No . 742 . rpHE regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Thursday , 6 th inst ., at I the Crystal Palace , Sydenham , under the presidency of Bro . Robert Eddie W . M . giving the traditional history of the degree in a most satisfactory manner .

Other items of business were disposed ol , hearty good wishes were tendered , and the W . M . proceeded to close ins Lodge , the Brethren afterwards adjouring to the banquet table , where an enjoyable repast was partaken of , under the direction of Mr . Purnell , Manager .

After the usual Loyal toasts Bro . Manning I . P . M . proposed the health of the Worshipful Master of the Lodge , highly complimenting him for the able manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of nis position during the evening . He had not the slightest doubt tne remaining work of the year would be carried out as perfectly as what they had witnessed that day .

The toasi < was most heartily received , and the W . M . on rising to respond met with a truly Masonic welcome . He thanked Bro . Manning for his kind expressions , and was pleased to hear his efforts had given satisfaction . The Brethren need not be afraid of giving him too much work—he looked forward in the hope of being called upon to perform several more ceremonies .

The W . M . next proposed the toast of the Visitors , enumerating the different guests who were present , and tendering a most hearty welcome to one and all of them . The members of the Crystal Palace Lodge were always pleased to see Visitors , and each hoped those present that evening had thoroughly enjoyed themselves .

Other of the visitors also responded .

The W . M . had very much pleasure in proposing the toast of the I . P . M . Bro . Manning , and other Past Masters , saying they were really the support of the Lodge . Bro . M . ) had dono they would greatly benefit by it .

Bro . Manning tendered his thanks . After so excellent a speech and so hearty a reception he was at a loss how to express his feelings . He was very pleased he had joined the Crystal Palace Lodge , and urged on its members a punctual and regular attendance . Bro .
