THE members met on Tuesday , the 4 th inst ., in the Temple of the Ship and Turtle , Leadenhall-street . During the business Bro . Bridge , of Queen ' s-road , Peckham , was raised to the Master ' s degree . Mr . Thomas Colston Mansell , of Grove-lane and

Churchstreet , and Mr . W . Groom , were initiated into Masonry . Amongst the Camberwell brethren present were Bros . Voisey P . M ., Bond P . M ., Williams , Plan S . D ., Wood J . D ., F . Wint I . G ., Briant , Rnff , Stone , Shelvey , J . Wint ( Organist ) , Pefcley , Harrison , Eyre , & o .

ST . MICHAEL'S LODGE , No . 211 .

THE regular meeting of thia Lodge took place on Tuesday last , at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , under the presidency of the W . M . Bro . Hairy Nash , who waa well supported by his Past Masters and Officers . Lodge business was only of a formal character , and waa speedily disposed of . This waa one of the so-called " off . nights , " and on these occasions no set formula for toasts is recognised . Tbe

members'partake of a modest repast ; the health of Her Majesty is given , and due honour paid to the W . M ., and a recognition accorded tho visitors . What else occurs must be accepted as of a " surprise " character . On this occasion Bro . P . M . Morgan drew attention to the fact that at the last meeting of tbe Lodge two of its most popular members—Bros . P . M . Green ( Treasurer ) and Orlton Cooper J . W . —

were enjoying themselves , or he hoped so , on holiday trips . The former had started for a run through the " States , " while Brother Cooper had drifted in the direction of Naples , Rome , and tbe adjacent classical districts . He ( Bro . Morgan ) , while calling cm those present to do these brethren , who had safely returned , special honour , would ask them , provided his request was approved , to give

some brief account of what they had seen during thoir sojourn abroad . The suggestion was cordially accepted , and Brother Green , after thanking the brethren for the cordiality with whioh they had received him , gave a pithy and lucid account of his visit to the States , with his impressions of Niagara and its surroundings , Chicago ,

Boston , Baltimore , New York , & c . Bro . Cooper followed . Both theso brethren are capable speakers , and Bro . Morgan was congratulated on the fact that he had given each an opportunity to display his oratory and facility for description . Mnsio and song enlivened the proceedings , and we need scarcely add the brethren separated with agreement they had spent a pleasant evening .

NEW FOREST LODGE , No . 319 .

THE monthly meeting was held nt the Bnglo Hotel , on Tuesday afternoon , when there was tho usual attendance ) of the brethren . In tho absence of tho W . M ., Bro . H . Pearse P . M . ably performed the ceremonies of the day . A banquet was held afterwards , provided by Bro . Dore Past Master , when a pleasant evening was spent .

EATON LODGE . No . 533 .

ON Wednesday , the 30 th ult ., the members celebrated the Festival of St . John , at the Masonh Hall , Congleton . Owim * lodomestic bereavement , tho W . M . Bro . C . VV . Jack-won was unable to be present . A few weeks ago the Lodge selected Bro . It . Head , of Congleton and Nantwich , as W . M . for the ensuing year , a selection which was not only popular in the Lodge , but among the brethren in Congleton ,

Macclesfield , Nantwich and other towns in th « district ., where Brother Head is known to be an active and efficient member of tbe Croft , and his installation took place on the 30 th nlfc ., before a Board of 16 Installed Masters and a goodly muster of brethren from other Lodges in Cheshire and Staffordshire , many of whom are Provincial Officers .

The proceedings in Lodge included fche passing of a resolution of sympathy with the W . M ., and the grateful acknowledgment of the portrait of the Provincial Grand Master , Lord Egerton of Tatton , Bent by his Lordship . Bro . Jackson was appointed charity representative . The installation ceremony was efficiently performed by Bros . Blackshaw and Sheldon . Bro . Head having taken the chair ,

working , Bro . Mason P . Prov . G . S . D . Middlesex responded , thanking the W . M . and the brethren for the warm * manner in which they had honoured the toast . He felt that in following 10 eminent a member of the Fraternity as Bro . J . Terry he was placed at some disadvantage , but he had done his best to perfprm his duties in an efficient and satisfactory manner . He could nofc lay claim to the eloquence oi

Bro . Terry , whose words literally flowed from his mouth . Some ono had compared his fluency of speech to " Syrup of honey stirred up with butterfliea ' wings . " Bro .
