he had been accorded , and said that if he did not perform his duties satisfactorily it would not be for want of effort on his part . He should endeavour to do his duty without fear and without favour , and to uphold the best traditions of the chair . He was certain of one thing—that he had to support him a splendid staff of working Officers .

anticipated would be the olose of his year of office , presented the Brothren with a beautiful ivory setting maul , to be used in the third degree ceremonial . The grateful thanks of the Lodge were accorded to Bros . Green and Spawforth for their kindly gifts , and the circumstances were ordered to be entered on the Lodge minutes . The spirit of benefaction was evidently in the air , for later on Bro . J . W . Dyer P . M . offered to present the Lodge with a new Charity Box , which was accepted by the Brethren .

Mr . Dudley Frederick Lathom , having been approved , was regularly initiated into Freemasonry by Bro . Spawforth , whose rendering of the ritual , including the ancient charge , was most perfect . As this was the occasion of the annual elections the ballot was taken , when Bro . Spawforth very unexpectedly found himself re-eleoted as Worshipful Master ; Bros . Green

and Barnes were also re-established in their respective offices as Treasurer and Tyler . Bro . Spawforth having announced his intention of acting as Steward at the next Festival of the Benevolent Institution the Lodge voted a sum of ten guineas to head his list of subscriptions . The Lodge was then closed and the Brethren adjourned to supper .

The only business beforo the Lodge was the installation of Bro . Guillermo Toribio Angspurg , who had been regularly elected at the previous meeting , and , after the minutes had been confirmed , that Brother was presented by Past Master Skinner , and signified his assent to the ancient charges and regulations . A Board of Installed Masters was subsequently formed , under the presidency of Bro . J . Kench P . G . P ., when the Worshipful Master-elect took the usual obligation and was duly installed into the chair according to the old traditions .

Upon the re-admission of the Brethren the new Master was saluted and proclaimed in the various degrees . Bro . Angspurg , having received the congratulations of the visitors , and there being nothing else offered for the good of Freemasonry , the Lodge was closed in due form , and the closing hymn was sung to a quaint old melody arranged by Bro . The banquet was served in the handsomo Crown room of Freemasons ' Tavern , and reflected much credit upon the manager of the establishment . As its termination the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and drunk with enthusiasm by tho company . Bro . J . Kench responded for the Officers of Grand Lod ge .

Bro . J . J . Pittman , in submitting the health of the Worshipful Master , said that Bro . Angspurg was well-known to them all , and they were sure he would uphold the old traditions of the Lodge . Unfortunately he was not an Englishman , and therefore laboured under some difficulty with the ritual , but his heart was in the right plu . ee , and he would be sure to do his duty to the Lodge . He therefore asked the Brethren to join with him and wish their new Master every possible success during his year of office .

Reports Of Meetings.

Bro . Angspurg , who was greeted with continued applause , thanked the Brothren for their kindness in electing him as W . M . of tho Lodge , and for their kind reception . He was deeply impressed by the ancient rites and ceremonies of the Order , and was a great admirer of its ritual and principles . Could anything be grander than the beautiful and edifying principles upon which Freemasonry was founded , which led us to put our trust in God in all

cases of difficulty and distress , to relieve the poor , and to do our duty to our fellow creatures ? The Craft was severly criticised and misjudged by many , but they need not be discouraged so long as they did their duty . Thereby prejudice would be conquered , and the noble cause triumph over its enemies . He was quite alive to the responsibility of his high office , but he was sure that the Brethren would assist him in his duties , and so make his year of office a brilliant success .

Bro . Angspurg now proposed the toast of his predecessor , who was a downright good fellow and an excellent Mason . He had discharged his duties in so perfect a manner that he had gained the appreciation of the entire Lodge . As a mark of the appreciation of the members he had now the pleasure of presenting him with the Past Master's jewel , in the name of the Brethren , and at the same time he wished him long life and health to wear it among them .

Bro . Pittman , in modest terms acknowledged the compliment , and thanked the Brethren for tho jewel , which he looked upon as a recognition of services he had endeavoured to render . He relinquished the chair with regrets , but hoped for many years to come to be of use to the Lodge . Bro . Paul ( Preceptor of the Lodge of Instruction ) , Easton , Skidden , Cole , Williams , and Cooper , responded for the visitors .

Bros . Elvin , Skinner , Willby , and Hooker acknowledged the toast of the Past Masters ; the Officers having also been complimented , the Tyler's toast brought the pleasant proceedings to a happy termination . During the evening an excellent musical programme was provided by Bro . Cambridge , in which Miss Alice Motterway , Bros . Harry Greene , and Arthur Barry took part .

Bro . G . F . Angspurg , the new Master of the Lodge , is a native of Mexico , and was born at Guada Laxara , on 17 th April 1 S 62 . He was initiated into the Lodge on 6 th October 1887 , and has served most of the offices .
