The Lodge was resumed to the first degree and Brother Papworth proposed a gentleman who washed to be initiated into the mysteries of the Craft . After a few communications from the Secretary the Lodge was closed with solemn prayer , and the Brethren retired to partake of light refreshment .

R . S . Fairbank presided . The Lodge having been opened , a resolution of condolence with his Majesty the King on the death of her late Majesty Qjigen Victoria , and of congratulation on his accession to the throne was passed , and ordered to be entered on the minutes .
The Treasurer presented a very satisfactory balance-sheet , which showed that , notwithstanding the fact that f , & o had been devoted to charity , there was a substantial increase in the funds . In conseauence of the recent death of Bro . J . H . Lavies P . M ., one of the Trustees of the Lodge Benevolent Fund , Bro . W . A . Bowser P . M . Secretary was appointed to fill the vacancy .
The ceremony of installation was then proceeded with , and was admirably performed by Bro . R . S . Fairbank I . P . M ., who has virtually been in the chair of the Lodge for two successive years in consequence of the absence pf Bro . W . Turner W . M ., who is in South Africa in charge of an Imperial Yeomanry hospital .
The Master-elect Bro . Hugh Taylor Taylor was presented by Bro . H . R . Rose P . M ., and , in the course of the ceremony , the anthem , " Be Thou Faithful Unto Death , " was impressively sung by Bro . E . Dalzell , of Westminster Abbey , accompanied by Bro . H . R . Rose P . G . O .. on the organ , with the violoncello obligate of Bro . H . A . Brousil .
Having been duly installed according- to ancient custom , the new W . M . appointed Brother R . S . Fairbank acting I . P . M . until the return of the late Master from . South Africa . The customary procedure having been followed , the W . M . appointed and invested his Officers .
In myes . tinp- his Officers the W . M . addressed each in felicitous terms , taking the opportunity of eulogising the services rendered by Bro . 'W . A . Bowser P . M . as the Secretary of the Lodge during the Inst two years . The usual addresses to the Worshi pful Master , the Wardens , and the members were delivered by Bro . H . R . Rose P . M ., Bro . W . A . Bowser P . M ., and Bro . R . S . Fairbank acting I . P . M ., respectively .
After the installation the Secretary reported that the one and only Founder's Jewel presented by the Lodge , at the time pf its Consecration had been handed back to the Lodge by the daughters of the founder , the late Dr . Joseph Samuel Lavies P . M ., father of the recentlv deceased Bro . T . H . Lavies P . M . A hearty vote of thanks to the Misses Lavies was passed , as also was one to ijrp . R . S . Fairbank acting I . P . M ., for the gift of a very handsome snuffbox .
The usual collection for the benevolent fund having been taken , the Lodge was closed . The installation banquet was foregone in consequence of the national bereavement .

Treasurer Preceptor of the Lodge , tendering his resignation as Preceptor , as other Masonic duties would not allow him to attend ; at the same time he strongly advised the Brethren to elect Bro- J . Saunders P , M . the Deputy Preceptor to the high Office . Bro- Johnson Secretary asked Bro . Saunders if
he would kindly accept the post . The Brethren knew Brother Saunders as an excellent Preceptor ; he was also the Treasurer of the Lodge , and if he would agree the Brethren could not do better than elect him . Bro . Saunders gave his consent , and said he thanked the Brethren for the confidence they had already placed in him and hoped that he wpuld continue to give satisfaction as their Preceptor and Treasurer . .
Bro . Johnson was unanimously re-elected Secretary of the Lodge . The inventory of the furniture was gone through , and it was found in perfect condition . A hearty vote of thanks , to be recorded on the minutes , waspassed for the very able manner in which Bro . Johnson had kept the books ; also to the Auditors , for their excellent assistance . Bro . Hunt was elected W . M . for Tuesday .
