Liverpool Dramatic Lodge , No . 1609 . ACTORS DAY . SINCE its consecration nearly a quarter of a century ago the Liverpool Dramatic Lodge has never held a meeting more remarkable in its character , and in fullest measure justifying its

institution and its continuance , than that which took place on Tuesday afternoon , 22 nd ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Hope . Street , Liverpool , where there was an attendance of about 120 members and visitors . By reason of the presence ' . of numerous pantomimjcally engaged Masonic artists in the city at this period of the

year , the January gathering of the "Dramatics ' is invariably looked upon as the most interesting of the year—next , of course , to the installation meeting in September . The particular interest of last month's assembly lay . in the fact

that no fewer than eleven representatives of' the' dramtaic and musical profession were the recipients of the degrees Vplohgjng to the Order . As a consequence , the bill of business for the . long afternoon—the proceedings commencing at one o ' clock promptwas a full and attractive" one .

Punctually at the fixed hour the chief chair was taken by Bro . W . IL -Button Worshipfui Master , and he was supported by a "full array of Officers and other members . The candidates proposed for initiation , all of whom were duly elected , were Mr . Edmund

Tearle , actor ; Mr . George Edward" Wade ( professionally . known as George Robey ) , comedian ; Edward Morgan , actor ; Geo . rgjs Ernest Louis Beck ( Le B-run ) , comedian ; Billy . Stephens , actor ; George William Jackson , musical director ' ; " and Francis " Felix Foster ( Frank Danby ) , comedian . Mr . Tearle was absent on

account of business emergency , but all the others presented themselves , and were duly initiated . The " second" candidates were Bros . Fox and B . aniel , and the " thirds ' were Brps . Clair , Cleveland , and Bennett , all of whom are also connected with the dramatic and musical professions .

Minnehaha Minstrel Lodge , No . 2303 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria . Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , 28 th ult ' ., Bro ! S . Harold Stubbs Worshipful Master . After the reading and confirmation of minutes , and the reading of one of , the ancient constitutional charges , Bro . Henry Beswick was passed to the degree pf F . C .

Bro . C . B . Cheetham Prov . S . G . W ., who had received the sanction and approval of the Prov . Grand Master Lord Stanley , M . P ., visited the Lodge to exuscitate the philanthropical sentiments of the Brethren on behalf of the East Lancashire Systematic Institution , and render whatever information was necessary as to its objects and general work . We are glad to say that there was a good attendance of members to listen to . his hortation .

* * St . Andrew Lodge , No . 2541 . INSTALLATION OF BROTHER GEORGE E . BARNARD . THE installation meeting was held on Wednesday , 6 th inst ., in the Masonic Hall , Avonmouth , when the new Master was installed by Bro . R . P . Sumner P . P . S . G . W . Gloucestershire .

METROPOLITAN . — : p : — Lodge of Justice , No . 147 . CENTENARY CELEBRATION .

• AT the Ship Hotel , Greenwich , on Monday evening , 21 st ult ., a dinner was held in celebration of the Centenary of the Lodge of Justice , No . 147 . The Lodge , which was originally founded in 1777 , was revived on 21 st January 1801 , from which period the minutes are complete .

From an excellent and interesting history which has been compiled by the Secretary Bro . W . E . Ddlley P . M ., bound up with which is a photographic reproduction of the Charter , signed by the Duke of Atholl , and a portrait group of last year's Officers , it appears that the Lodge was originally constituted as a military Lodge , in connection with the West London Regiment of Militia ,

and that its first name was the "West Lpndph Militia Lodge . " This , at some subsequent period , was changed to that of the "Jolly Potters , " but it is uncertain at what date this change took place . It was first known as the " Lodge pf Justice" in 1828 . The Masonic records give the number of the Lodge as follows : No . 198 , Antients , 1777-1813 ; No . 245 at the Union of 1813-1814 ;

No . 172 in 1832 ; No . 147 in 1863 . The former practice of altering the numbers of Lodges by conferring upon' them the numbers of older Lodges which had lapsed is not now observed , so " Number 147 " it will remain . The West London Regiment being quartered between London and Deptford will account for

the frequency of the Lodges removals . It did not remain long at its place of re-institution , for in July 1801 it was unanimously agreed to remove to the Three Jolly Potters—now the Trinity-Arms—in Church Street , Deptford . The minutes of those times were not headed with the address of the Lodge as now , and it , is
