H . the Prince of Wales M . W . G . M . was the next toast , and this was followed by the health of the R . W . the Earl of Carnarvon Pro G . M ., the Earl

of Lathom D . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past . On this occasion the Abbey Lodge was honoured by the attendance of Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Prov . G . Master Middlesex , the Rev . R . J . Simpson P . G . Chaplain , J . Derby Allcroft P . G . Treasurer , Frank Richardson P . G . Deacon ; the latter brother had

rendered most effective service , not only at the consecration of the Lodge , but on that evening . He ( the W . M . ) would have much pleasnre in associating with the toast the name of Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Past Grand Warden . Col . Sir Francis Burdett , in responding , thanked the W . M . for his kind remarks . In reference to the

Immediate Past Master , he was sure all would agree he had set a bright example ; he felt tbafc all who were present had felt gratified to see how well the duties of the chair had been performed . The Lodge had now entered upon its second year of existence ; it did so under very favourable auspices ; the out . going Master had performed

the ceremony of installing his successor most excellently ; in fact he ( Sir Francis ) had never heard it done better , and moreover he could Bpeak with pride of one who had striven so successfully to sustain and support the Order . He was also essentially gratified to mark the sustained interest that noble-minded lady the Baroness

Burdett-Coutts took in the progress of the Abbey Lodge ; this was evidenced by the display of the bright flowers she had forwarded from Holly Lodge . Long may she live to continue her good and noble works . On behalf of the Grand Officers whose names had been associated with his in connection with the toast , he tendered the brethren

his sincere thanks . Bros . J . Derby Allcroffc P . G . Treas . and Frank Richardson also responded . Bro . Burdett . Coutts I . P . M . had great pleasure in proposing the health of the W . M . Bro . Baker , to whom the successful inauguration of the Lodge was mainly due . He was respected and esteemed by every member of the Lodge , as well as by

those outside of it with whom he came in contact . So long as he had the management of the affairs of the Lodge there was little doubt of its prosperity . The toast was heartily received and acknowledged by the Worshipful Master . He would endeavour to fulfil the duties which appertained to his office to the satisfaction of them all . He

hoped to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor in the chair , whose health he would now ask the brethren to drink . They had seen with what ability Bro . Burdett-Coutts had carried out the duties of the first Master of the Lodge . He had the greatest pride and pleasure in presenting to him the Past Master ' s jewel of the Lodge—ifc was richly

deserved , in recognition of valuable services rendered . The words engraved on it were the true sentiments of the brethren . He hoped the Immediate Past Master would never wear it without thinking that the brethren had the remembrance of what his well-directed efforts had done for the benefit of the Lodge . Bro . Bnrdett-Contts

expressed the pleasure with which he had spoken fco them when occupying the chair of the Lodge . Now , on leaving it to bis successor , he had to thank them for the elegant jewel they had presented to him , and which he should wear with the greatest pride and pleasure . He hoped the good which had been done in the past

wonld be continued in the future . The toast of the Initiites was next given . The Master hoped that the brethren who had just been received among them , and who came with snch good introductions , would become a credit to the Order , and brethren of whom the Lodge might be proud . Bros . Richards and Todmau responded in excellent

speeches . The W . M . had great pleasnre in proposing the toast of the Visitors , who were very strong in numbers , and called on two brethren to respond—the W . M . of the City of Westminster Lodge , Bro . Jones , and the W . M . of the Kent Lodge , No . 15 . Those brethren spoke in brief but appropriate terms of the pleasure they

had experienced in witnessing the excellent working of the cere , monies by the I . P . M . The genial presidency of the W . M ., and the hospitality afforded them . The toast of the Masonic Charities was given , and the W . M . in advocating their claims said they were proud of the presence of Bro . F . Binckes P . G . S . Secretary Royal Masonic

Institution for Boys . He hoped the next Anniversary Festival of that Institution , in June , would be the most successful of the present your . Bro . Binckes responded in one of those eloquent speeches for which he is celebrated . Twenty years ago , he said , the Baroness Burdett-Coutts had honoured them with her presence , and had written to him

a letter which he should ever prize . He was pleased to say that the I . P . M . had given his name as a Steward for the nexfc Boys' Festival , which would be held under the presidency of the Marquis of Hartington . It was a source of pride to him to respond to this toast in the Abbey Lodge , which he was sure would become oue of the

bulwarks of the Order . The W . M . proposed the health of tho Treasurer , Bro . Rogers , and the Secretary , Bro . Sband , speaking of their qualificatious and their zeal to promote the prosperity of the Lodge . This toast having been responded to , the W . M . proposed that of the Wardens and Officers , regretting the

absence of the Senior Warden Bro . F . Seager-Hunt . Those who inow him know what an acquisition such a brother was to a Lodge . In his absence a good working brother , well known in the Order , Bro . T . Bull P . M . 145 , had taken his place , and had filled the chair of Warden to their entire satisfaction . Similar praise might be given io

the J . W . and other Officers . He had been pleased to appoint them , knowing that the duties would be iu every respect conducted J-o their satisfaction . This toast having been responded to , the Tyler ' s was given and the brethren separated . Some good singing interspersed the several toasts , the following programme oeing rendered Laudate

THE installation meeting of this Lodge was held at the Station Hotel , Richmond , on Tuesday , 5 th inst ., when there present Bros . Blasby W . M ., Nunn P . G . S . B . I . P . M ., Digby S . W ., Houghton S . D . as J . W ., Reynolds Treasurer , Phillips Seoretary , Dare S . D ., Sapsworth as J . D ., Marjason I . G ., Crew Organist , and many other brethren , members of the Lodge . There were also present the

Grafton 1656 , & o . Lodge was opened in due form and the W . M . raised Bros . Meers , James , Cook and Trinder to the degree of M . M ., and passed Bro . Hester , working the ceremonies in his nsual able manner . The W . M . then proceeded to instal his successor , Bro . Digby , S . W . of the Lode as W . M . for the ensuing year . This ceremony was

most ably and impressively performed , and proved to the brethren present that the late Worshipful Master of the Lodge had spared no pains to make this , the last public act of his Mastership , as perfect and pleasing as all that had previously occurred during his year of office . The newly-installed Worshipful Master then proceeded to

invest his Officers , as follow : Bros . Phillips S . W ., Houghton J . W ., Reynolds Treasurer , Rowland Secretary , Dare S . D ., Sapsworfch J . D ., Marjason I . G ., Crew Organist , Ireland D . C , Maton and Messum Stewards , Banks Tyler . The newly-installed Master , after receiving the hearty congratulations of the brethren , proceeled to initiate

Messrs . Rainbow and Clifford into the mysteries of the Craft , in the performance of whioh ceremony he and the ofcher Officers thoroughly upheld the character hitherto enjoyed by this Lodge for the excellence of its working . The Lodge then adjourned to a banquet , provided by host Bro . Munro , which was served in his usual satisfactory

manner . The toasts , whioh were most ably given and enthusiastically received , were responded to by R . W . Bro . Sir Francis Bardetfc Bart ., and Bro . Nnnn for the Grand Officers . Bro . Digby received the hearty congratulations of all present on his elevation to the post

of Worshipful Master , and when responding , in a few well-ohosen sentences , presented to Bro . Blasby a handsome jewel , whioh had been unanimously voted to him by the brethren . Thus was inaugurated the second year of this young , flourishing and most successful Lodge .

Sperring on his occupying the chair for the first time . Bro . Thomas was elected W . M . for the next meeting . Lodge was closed in due form , and adjourned .
