he said , held offico in their Provincial Grand Lodgo for no less than 48 years , bis appointment as Treasurer alone dated back as far as 1856 . So long a record of honourable service was , he was sure , unusual , and he felt there were few others in Freemasonry who could point to
such a career . Thinking it would be the wish of the brethren to offer a special vote of thanks to Bro . Price he had had an address engrossod and framed for presentation , as
if not ready now there would be no opportunity or expressing their opinion of his services for another year . The address he had prepared , and which he now asked the brethren to endorse , was to the following effect : —
PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE , SURREY . W . Bro . GKORGE PRICE Past Provincial Grand Senior Wardorj , not desiring , in consequence of advancing age , to seek re-election for the position of Provincial Grand Treasurer . At a Provincial Grand
Lodge held this day at Surbiton ; R . W . Provincial Grand Master Colonel G . Noel Money , C . B ., in the chair , it was unanimously resolved that tho best thanks of this Grand Lodge be ( and thoy are ) hereby given to
W . BROTHER GEORGE PRICE Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden Snrrey , for the great and valuable services be has rendered to tho Province us its Grand Treasurer for a period of over 36 years , during which time he has
materially assisted the Masonio Charities , and has endearpd himself to every Brother of the Province by his very high personal character , his great zeal for the welfare of the Craft generally , but ecpecially in tbe Province of Snrrey . Dated this the Fourteenth day of July 1892 .
( Sd . ) G . NOEL MONEY P . G . M . Bro . West , Deputy Provincial Grand Master , seconded this vote to Bro . George Price , feeling all must agree that the compliment was well deserved at their hands . He spoke of the pleasure it had afforded him to instal Bro .
George Price as Master of the East Surrey Lodge of Concord for the second time after a lapse of clo . e on fifty years , and he felt that in consenting to the proposition then before Provincial Grand Lodge they were showing their regret at severing the connection that had EO long existed
between them . Dr . Strong supported the proposal . Having been associated with Bro . Price for upwards of 30 years he knew how faithfully , he had performed his work . Ho felt that in paesing this vote they were not necessarily bidding adien to Bio . Price , whose face he hoped would be
as frequently among them in the future as it had been in the past . The vote was unanimously agreed to , and the presentation by tbe Provincial Grand Master was followed by a hearty round of applause . Bro . Price expressed his sincere thanks for the kind way
in which he had been spoken of , and lie thanked the brethren generally for the hearty reception they had accorded to the remarks of their Provincial Grand Master , tho Dfputy , and Dr . Strong . It was 36 ' years since be had first been appointed to the office of Treasurer of the
Province , and he had continued in that office without a break up to the present . He had felt it a very great honour to be chosen year after yenr to so important an office , and he felt that the fact of his now being iu his 8 ord year wm > bullicient reason to explain his retirement

at the present time . He was convinced from the vote just passed that ho retained the confidence , tbo good wishes , and the esteem of all , and he hoped to meet them again on
many occasions . A discussion subsequently arose as to the desirability of oponinga special banking account for the P . G . Lodge , and it was ultimately agreed to refer tho matter to the Finance Committee , who should meet forthwith and
report any decision they might arrive at . The proposals of Bro . Laugton in regard to tho formation of a Provincial Charity Committeo next received attention , and they were adopted with but slight alterations—the qualification clause of Lodgo representatives was abolished—on the
understanding that the Committee should have power to make such slight alterations in the rnles as appeared necessary in order to carry out the project on the lines set out . Provincial Grand Lodge was subsequently closed , and tho company adjourned to the banquet room where , presided
over by the Provincial Grand Master , a most enjoyable evening was spent . At the conclusion of tho banquet tho Provincial Grand Master proposed the usual toasts , coupling with that of tbe Grand Officers the name of Bro . Dr . Strong who , in the course of bis reply , said he was
surprised to find as many matters of details for the Grand Officers to attend to . He thought he might say on behalf of the Grand Officers what bo himself felt , that they would do all that lay in their power for the good of Freemasonry . Bro . Belton proposed the toast of the Prov .
Graud Master , whom he had had the honour of knowing for many years previous to the ^ association of Col . Money with Snrrey . He knew him to be deserving of the highest esteem and felt all present would endorse that view . After a hearty reception of the toast the Prov .
Grand Master responded . He thanked the brethren very heartily indeed for the way in which they had drunk his health . The hearty good will expressed by the proposer of this toast and the hearty reception he had met with led him to suppose he was appreciated in Surrey . They had
gone on very well during the year in the district and had added a Lodge to the roll , which he believed would be a credit to them . He next proposed tho the toast of the Deputy Prov . Grand Master , Bro . West , who had been known to them for a very long time and on
behalf of whom too much praise could not be uttered . He had done very much for that Province—in fact for Freemasonry in general . Bro . West said he knew of no meetings in which it was more pleasant to respond than Masonic ones , and none of those more enjoyable than Provincial
meetings . This was particularly tbe case so far as he was concerned in Surrey . He had known nothing but good feeling since he had been associated with the district and hoped that tho supreme duties suddenly thrust upon him a few years back had been carried out to tbe r satisfaction .
He should continue to give his best services to tbe Province so long as it lay in his power to do anything for them . Bro . Le Feuvie , Deputy Provincial Grand Master
of Hampshire , responded for the Visitors , after which came * the toast of tbe Treasnrer and Secretary , and then that of the Entertaining Lodges , each of which was heartily received and duly acknowledged .
