Provincial Grand Lodge Of Berkshire.

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF BERKSHIRE .

THB animal meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Berkshire was held on Tuesday , the 28 th tilt ., at Windsor . There was an unusually large attendance of brethren . Tho Lodge was held at the Town Hall , and it was admirably fitted up for the occasion . Bro . J . T . Morland Deputy Provincial Grand Master in charge presided .

In the Lodge a resolution expressing the sorrow of the brethren at the death of their late Provincial Grand Master , the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , was passed . It was

proposed in an eloquent speech by Bro . tho Eev . J . M . Guilding , and seconded by Canon Garry . It was agreed that the resolution should appear upon the records of the Lodge , but it was thought that the more considerate

course would be to abstain from sending it to the Prince of Wales . It was stated that the number of Masons in the Province had increased ; and that tho amount expended in parity was also larger . An announcement was made that the Provincial Grand Secretary ( Bro . J . W . Martin ) had

written to Oanon Dalton , and in consequence of subsequent communications to the Prince of Wales and the Queen , Her Majest y had given permission for the . Freemasons of the -tTovmco to visit the tomb of the late Duke of Clarence and Avondale .

W . Hemmings 1101 and 414 ... Tyler The Lodge , which had met at four o ' clock , was closed shortly after live , and the brethren proceeded to the burial

place of the young duke . The beauty of the building and tho touching memorials of affection from his relatives made a great impression upon all who were privileged to be present .

In the evening there was a banquet at the White Hart Hotel , and there was again a large attendance , the room being inconveniently full . The Deputy Provincial Grand Master ( Brother J . T . Morland ) again attended . With

reference to the appointment of a Provincial Grand Master for Berkshire , it was said that in all probability the office would not be filled until a much later period in the year .

There was some admirable music , both vocal and instrumental , at the banquet , and the pleasure of tho brethren was greatly enhanced thereby .

PROV.GRAND CHAPTER OF SURREY.

THE annual meeting of this Grand Chapter was held on Thursday , at the Assembly Rooms , Surbiton , under the presidency of the Grand Superintendent of the Province , Col . G . Noel Money , C . B ., who was supported by Companions Fred . West Prov . G . H ., Dr . Strong , C . Greenwood Prov . G . S . E ., J . D . Langton , Hugh M . Hobbs ,

George Price Prov . G . Treasurer , and many others . The Provincial Grand Chapter having been formally opened , the roll of Chapters was called over , and the report of the Audit Committee was adopted . Comp . Dr . Glbbs was elected Provincial G . Treasurer , and the following were appointed as the other Provincial Grand Officers : —

of Lodges was called over , and it was found that representatives of each were present The report of tho Finance and Audit Committee was adopted , including grants of ten guineas each to the two branches of the Benevolent Institution , to the Girls' School , and to the

Boys' School ; aud five guineas to the Surbiton Cottage Hospital , after which came the election of a Provincial Grand Treasurer . There were two nominations for tbe appointment—Dr . Strong , of Croydon ; and Dr . Gibbs of

Surbiton . A poll was taken for tbesa twJ brethren , on tho declaration of which it was shown that Dr . Gibbs had been elected by GO votes , against 53 recorded on behalf of Dr . Strong .
