The W . M ., on behalf of the Lodge , presented to the I . P . M . Bro . Long a very handsome Past Master's jewel , at the same time complimenting him upon the manner in which he had carried out the duties of Worshipful Master during the past year . Permission was asked and obtained for a Lodge of Instruction to be formed in connection with the Lodge , to be held at the Royal Forest Hotel , Chingford .

The Lodge was then closed , and the Brethren adjourned to the Banqueting Hall , where an excellent repast was served . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed by the W . M . and duly honoured , that of the Provincial Grand Officers being responded to by Bros . Gower Prov . G . Treasurer , T . Scoresby Jackson P . Prov . G . Deacon and R . Kershaw P . Prov . G . D . C

The I . P . M ., in felicitous terms , gave the toast of the W . M ., which was most cordially received . ¦ The W . M . having replied , he proposed the health of the Installing Master , and on behalf of Bro . Shurmur , who had been obliged to leave , Bro . Scoresby-Jackson responded .

The remaining toasts were the Treasurer and Secretary ; the Visitors , responded to by Bro . Gower , Wm . Hayman Cummings and the other Visitors present ; the Past Masters ; the Officers of the Lodge . Bro . Cummings , in the course of his remarks , congratulated the W . M . and the Lodge on having the services of Bro . Latter as Organist , as he felt how much the solemnity of our grand ritual was added to by efficient music . He paid a high compliment to Bro . Latter , whom he had known for many years as a thorough musician and a painstaking and successful teacher .

The Tylers toast brought a most successful and enjoyable meeting to a close . The musical arrangements were under the able care of Bro . W . Latter , R . A . M ., P . Prov . GO . Essex Organist of the Lodge , and an excellent programme was most efficiently carried out . Special commendation should

be given to the singing of the Misses Latter and Miss Ethel Harrison , and also to the violin solo by Bro . Victor Medcalf . The artistes who supported Bro . Latter during the evening were Bros . C B . Cutchey , T . Feistel , A . Holmes , F . Taylor , and Victor Medcalf , Miss K . Latter , Miss Evelyn Latter , and Miss Ethel Harrison .

HARTISMERE LODGE , No . 1663 . ON Wednesday , Gth inst ., at Eye , Bro . W . Curtis S . W . was installed W . M for the ensuing year , the work being most ably performed by Bro . H Preston Riches W . M .

LIVERPOOL DRAMATIC LODGE , No . 1609 . fFIHE installation of Worshipful Master for the current year took place on I the 2 Sth ulfc ., in the Masonic Temple , Hope Street , Liverpool , under circumstances which indicated unmistakably the popularity of the Masterelect Bro . Harry Round P . M . P . G . S . Not only was there a full attendance of the members of the Lodge , but a very large number of visitors .

Subsequently the arrangements for the conduct of the Lodge during the next year were entered into , and it was mentioned that this was the 21 st anniversary of the Lodge . With regard to the Dramatic Lodge and its Officers , it should be stated that Bro . H . Round jun . should have been

promoted from the Senior Warden's chair to the Mastership , but in deference to representations made to him and to feelings he held with regard to tho matter , he preferred to see his esteemed father in possession of the chair , especially considering the fact that Provincial honours might be conferred upon him during his term of office , says the " Liverpool Courier . "

DE LA POLE LODGE , No . 1605 . rpiHE installation of Worshipful Master took place at the Masonic Hall , J _ Kingston Square , Hull , on Monday , 4 th inst ., when the retiring Master Bro . Edward Ryley was in the chair , supported by the Worshipful Master-elect Bro . J . Barton and a large number of Officers and Brethren , as well as a large and representative number of visitors .

The installation ceremony was most impressively rendered by Bros . Wilson and Corris , at the close of which the new Master invested bis Officers for the ensuing year . Bro . Tindell then , in a very eulogistic speech , presented the retiring

Master Bro . R yley with a magnificent gold Past Master ' s jewel , on which was inscribed : Presented to W . BRO . RYLEY ,

by the members of the De la Polo Lodge , 1605 , as a mark of their high esteem , and in appreciation of the zeal and abilit y displayed by him as Worshipful Master , 1896-7 .

_ The Brethren then adjourned , and sat down to a most recherche banquet , after which the Loyal and Masonic toasts were enthusiastically honoured .

EMULATION LODGE , No . 1505 . THE annual installation took place at the Temple , Hope Street , Liverpool , on the 11 th inst ., when a vast number of Provincial Grand Officers , Past Masters , and Worshipful Masters of other Lodges assembled to do

honour to the Master-elect Bro . Issac Lowery , of Hoylake . Bro . Peter Tough conducted the installation ceremony , and Bro . Issac Lowery , having been duly chaired , invested his Officers .

Subsequently a sumptuous banquet was served by Mr . Walter Holmes , of the Metropole , to which full justice was done , after which the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were submitted .

During the evening a beautiful Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Peter M . Tough , and a diamond ring was also given to him for Mrs . Tough , in appreciation of the excellent services he has rendered .

SIR WATKIN LODGE , No . 1477 . THE annual installation was held at Mold , on Monday , 4 th inst ., when Bro . W . Wright was installed W . M . for the second year in succession . There were a number of visiting Brethren present from Chester , Flint , Connah ' s Quay , and other places . An excellent repast was afterwards provided at the Black Lion Hotel .

LIBERTY OF HAVERING LODGE , No . 1437 . THE annual installation meeting was held on Thursday , 30 th ult ., af Romford , when , by kind permission of the Urban District Council , the Brethren mut in the Council chamber .

At the request of the retiring Worshipful Master Bro . J . S . Hammond , Bro . W . D . Child P . M . in an able and impressive manner installed Bro . John Spencer in the chair for the ensuing vear .

Bro . W . D . Child was re-elected to represent tho Lodge on the Essox Charity Committee . The usual banquet followed at the Golden Lion Hotel , Bro . John Spencer presiding over a company numbering nearly forty .

The usual toasts were given , the health of the Worshipful Master and the Immediate Past Master being specially honoured . The latter was presented during the evening with . a handsome Past Master ' s jewel .

TOXTETH LODGE , No . 1356 . ON Tuesday , 12 th inst ., the annual installation was held at the Masonic Hall , North Hill Street , Liverpool . There was a large attendance , including visitors , about 120 Brethren being present . Bro . Thomas H . Porter was installed W . M .

HINDPOOL LODGE , No . 1225 . ON Tuesday , 28 th ult ., Bro . Plato Harrison S . W . was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . Tho ceremony was very largely attended , and was performed by Bro . A . H . Stamper W . M ., who was awarded a beautiful Past Master ' s jewel in recognition of the valuable services he had rendered to the Lodge during the year he had held the chief office .

WEAR VALLEY LODGE , No . 1121 . THE meeting at Bishop Auckland , on Friday , 8 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . Tuck W . M ., was selected for the customary annual visit of the Provincial Officers . Bro . Tuck was supported by a number of Brethren of neighbouring Lodges , and a pleasant evening was spent .

DERWENT LODGE , No . 884 . THE annual meeting took place on Monday , 11 th inst ., at the Hope and Anchoi Hotel , Wirksworth , when Bro . J . Macbeth was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . The Installing Master was Dr . E . J . H . Hosk yns P . M . 787 P . P . S . G . W . After the appointment and investment of Officers a banquet was held .

PLEIADES LODGE , No . 710 . THE annual installation took place on Thursday , 7 th inst ., at Totnes , when the Rev . W . E . Windle P . G . C was installed W . M . for the ensuing year .

A vote of sympathy was passed to Bro . W . B . Maye P . P . G . D . C , on his recent illness ; also to Mrs . Fraser , widow of the late Bro . Eraser . The banquet was held at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel , in the evening , the repast being excellently served by Bro . Adams .

UNITED LODGE , No . 697 . rpHERE was a full attendance at the George Hotel , Colchester , on I Wednesday , 6 th inst ., on the occasion of a presentation to the Secretary Bro . J . T . Bailey , on his marriage . The presentation , which took the form

of a silver plated salad bowl and servers , with a biscuit jar , was made by the Worshipful Master Bro . H . E . Baker . Bro . Bailey suitably responded . .
