relieving deserving Masons and tbe children of Masons , and each fund deserved a larger measure of support . In those Institutions there were no paid Officers ; consequently no pensions , and tho money went directly to the purpose

for which it was given . At a meeting of tho Committee at Exeter in January £ 15 was voted to two brothers and tho widow of a brother . At a meeting of the Committee held that day they had voted ancl recommended the

sum of £ 100 to Masons and the widows of Masons . In accordance with tho by-laws they recommended that tho sums necessary to qualify the following Lodges as Lifo Governors of Institutions who have sent their portion of

the money be grant : d : for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , Lodges 1254 , 1284 , 2189 ; and for the Royal Masonic Institution for Aged Masons and Widows ' , Lodges 105 , and 2189 , and that tho availablo balance , £ 21 , be given

to the Royal Masonic Institution for Aged Masons , <\ cc . ( Widows' Fund ) and be placed on tho list of Bro . Rev . T . W . Lemon , M . A . The report was adopted . Bro . Jones proposed Bro . James Templeton P . M . 1332 as Provincial

Grand Treas ., and Bro . Crabb seconded . Bro . D . Cross nominated Bro . W . Powell P . M . 1205 , Bro . Major Tracey seconded , and Bro . C . Watson supported . On a vote being taken Bro . Templeton was elected . Bros . J . Stocker and E . T . Fulford wero appointed auditors . The Provincial

It was decided to place the votes of tho Provincial Grand Lodge with reference to the appointment of a Secretary for the Boys' School in tho hands of tho Provincial Grand Master , ancl a resolution was passed protesting against the proposal to giving Bro . Binckes so largo a pension as £ 350 per year , and also granting pensions on a

similar scale to other Officers . The Provincial Grand Lodge then closed .

BY invitation of the Howe and Charnwood Lodgo , No . 1007 , the annual communication of tho above Provincial Grand Lodge was held at Loughborough , on Tuesday , tho 29 th ultimo , under the presidency of tho Provincial Graud Master the Right Honourable the Earl

1 errors . In consequence of the accommodation at tho regular place of meeting of the Lodge being inadequate for the anticipated large attendance a dispensation had been

obtained by tho local brethren for their assembling on this occasion at the Town llall , and great praise is due to thorn for the excellent arrangements mado hr tin ; reception r > f the Provincial Grand Master and his Officer ?* , and for the

Visitor—Brother the Rev . F . Tibbits 2049 , . Isle of Man . The Craft Lodgo having been opened , the Provincial Grand Master and his Officers entered in procession , and the

usual salutes to tho principal Officers were given . The Provincial Grand Lodge was then opened , and the usual preliminary business , including the reading and confirmation of the minutes , -was proceeded with , after which came the presentation of reports from the Committee of General

Purposes , the Provincial Charity Committee , and the Provincial Grand Registrar . The former made interesting reference to the recent celebration of the jubilee of the initiation into Freemasonry of R . W . Bro . Kelly Past

Provincial Grand Master , and also to the occasion , next year , of the Centenary of St . John ' s Lodge , No . 279 , and then dealt mainly with matters of local interest . After discussion with reference to an unauthorised publication in local

newspapers of Masonic proceedings at one of tbe local Lodges , the report was adopted . The report of the Charity Committee , which was of a very satisfactory nature , alluded specially to the support given by the Provinco during the

year to tho Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , which was of a most gratifying character , and having regard to the trying and adverse conditions of things under which the

Charity had of late been placed , the handsome contributions from Leicestershire and Rutland had doubtless proved very acceptable . The Committee , in their report , very warmly acknowledged tho indefatigable exertions of Bro . J . Herbert

Marshall P . M . 1007 , P . P . A . G . D . C ., through which tho successful result referred to had been achieved , his list having amounted to £ 580 5 s . The report concluded by recommending the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution a 3 the Charity

to bo specially supported by tbe Province in tho coming year , and tho appointment of Bro . A . McTindall P . M . 1330 P . P . G . J . W . as Charity Steward to represent the Province at tho next Festival of that Institution . The Report was

adopted , as also was that of the Provincial Grand Registrar , on which much trouble bad been expended in setting out in tabular form the annual returns and reports

from the several Lodges in the Province . According to the latter report tho total membership of the Province appeared to be 541 , being a net increase of 8 over the

returns of last year . The Provincial Grand Treasurer ' s account having been received and adopted , a vote of thanks was accorded to him for hia services . Bro . R . Waite , who has for several years past ably discharged the

duties of Provincial Grand Treasurer , was again unanimously re-elected to that office . Tho following ¦ were appointed and invested by the Provincial Grand Master as Provincial Grand Officers for the onsuing
