The W . M . elect , Bro . C . Stokes S . W ., was then presented for instillation by Bro . II . Nixon P . M . Tho ancient charges , & c , having been read over by the Secretary , Bro . T . E . Barker , and to which Bro . Stokes assented to , he took the usual obligation . The brethren below tho rank of AV . M . then retired , and a board of installed Masters being formed Bro . C . Stokes was installed iuto the chair of K . S . The ceremony
throughout was perfoimed in a mosfc perfect and impressive manner by Bro . Drury . The newly installed Master then appointed and in . vested his Officers , as follow : —Bro . A . E . Drury I . P . The sum of twenty guineas was voted from the funds of the Lodge to the Royal Masonic Institntion for Girls , making up tho required amount to endow the W . M . 's chair . Two months ago the sura of fifty guineas was granted for the same object . After despatch of
remaining business which appeared on the agenda and tendering of hearty gcad wishes from visitors , the Lodge was closed in due form , and during the marshall strains of the organ the brethren adjourned to the banquetting hall , where a sumptuous dinner awaited them . This was served iu a most satisfactory and praiseworthy manner by
the Hall Steward , Bro . R . Turner , and Mrs . Turner . The tables looked lovely and were beautifully decorated with flowers , & c . Covers were laid for 90 , aud 89 brethren sat down . The W . M ., Bro . C . Stokes , presided . The usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed and most heartily responded to , and a most happy and harmonious evening waa spent and will long be remembered by the brethren present .

Buckland , Rickard , Milligan , Benu nnd Bell contributed songa during tho evening , which woro much appreciated , and ably accompanied on tho pianoforte by Bro . Henry Gankroger . The Lodgo was formed about 25 years ago , holding its meetings in the Royal Hotel , afterwards removing to Central Buildings , and dnring that year removing to its own premises , affording excellent and commodious rooms .

Shepherd was presented by Bro . F . Wade P . M . D . C , and duly installed by Bro . J . W . Hedley P . M . The Lodge was afterwards closed , and the annual festival was held iu the evening at tbe Grand Hotel , Bridge Street .

Red Lion Hotel . The brethren specially honoured Bro . Davey P . M . P . P . G . Treasnrer , who is about to leave St . Columb to take upon himself the duties of Master of tho Ashton-under-Lyne Union Workhouse . General regret was expressed ab his intending departure , and le received many tokens of the high esteem in which he i * deservedly held in the Province of Cornwall .

degree was conferred on Bro . James Tandy and Bro . John Smith ; the second on Bro . H . Matthews j and tbe first on Mr . Patrick Ryan , Mr . Alfred Fisher , and Mr . Albert Barnes . The installation of Worshipful Master was also performed , and Bro . W . Shurmur received tho congratulations of the brethren as ruler of the Lodge , subsequently appointing tbe following as the assistant Officers for the year : —

Other matters of business having beeu disposed of the Lodge was closed , and the brethren repaired to banquet , where they were presided over by tbe new Master , who , in due conrse , gave the ensternary toasts . Those of loyalty to the throne and tbe head of the Order having been honoured , the Master gave that of the Grand Officers , especially referring to the attendance of Bro . Philbrick , who
honoured the Lodge with his presence . The name of Philbrick , he said , was everywhere regarded with the greatest respect , but nowhere more so than in tho Province of Essex , where as Deputy Grand Master he was universally beloved . In face of the head of t lie district , whom they had known and revered as Lord Brooke , having succeeded to the Earldom of Warwick , it might be
inconvenient for him to continue in the office of Provincial Grand Master , and in such a case he was sure he was but echoing the wish of every Essex Mason when he expressed the hope that Bro . Philbrick might succeed to the higher post . He had won the regard of the district as its Grand Superintendent , and us Djpnty in the Craft , and would secure loyal support in the higher office should he be appointed tu it .
