H . Beaumont proposed the Worshipful Master . Bro . G . R . Godfree , who was warmly applauded , briefly acknowledged the toast .

of the Initiate , proposed by Bro . C W . Hudson , was responded to by Bro . G . H . Barnes . Tho W . M . gavo the Wardens and Officers of the Lodge . Bros . L . R . Styer and J . Terry responded . Bro . H . Kent then presented Bro . Beaumont with a silver cup , for his young son , bora during hia year of office as W . M . Bro . Beaumont had

carried out his dnties , he said , iu such an admirable manner that he could express no better hope for his infant son than that he might become as good a man and Mason as his father . Bro Beaumont , in acknowledgment of the presentation , said he had experienced so mnoh kindness at the hands of the brethren of the

Lodge that he could not find words to thank them sufficiently for this additional mark of their esteem , conveyed by the presentation to his little son . He should always remember their kindness with gratitude , and trusted they would not measure his feelings of pleasure by the brief and inadequate response which he now made to

them . The Tyler ' s toaat completed tho post prandial proceedings During the evening the various speeches were agreeably interspersed by songs , rendered by Bros . Robert Greening , on the termination of his year ol offiw , " was brought forward , and regularly agreed to , as also was a proposition , moved by Bro . Blackie P . M ., " That the sum of

twentyfive guineas he voted from the funds of the Lodge , and placed on fcho W . M . 's List as Steward for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . " One of the moat pleasing features of the meeting was next nndertaken . Bro . N . B . Headon , the Treasurer of the Lodge , moved , Tint that being the Silver Wedding-day of the Mosfc Worshipful

Graud Master Qis Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , a message of congratulation be sent to him from the Lodge . Thia was seconded and carried unanimously , and a telegram to the following effect was despatched . " To H . R . H . the Prince of Wales ,

City Lodge , the expression of their Pioyal Highnesses sincere thanks for their kind congratulations and good wishes . " In connection with these interesting proceedings , we may add that

two members of the Lodg = » , Bros . F . J . Biggs and H . F . Frost , who on the 10 th of March 1863 were chorister boys in St . George ' s Chapel , Windsor , and wera present during the marriagaof the Prince and Princess of Wales , voted in favour of the resolution .

After the closing of the Lodge the company sat down to refresh " ment . The usual toasts were honoured afc fche conclusion of fche repast , which was well served , under the personal superintendence of Bro . Kilby , the manager of the Hotel . Among the visitors present

were Bros . S . Rideanx 1601 , W . Carey W . M . 1571 , G . Chnrch W . M . 20 , T . E . Tallant P . M . 186 , and A . S . Hart P . M . 1872 . " The Wedding March" was well played by Bro . Edwin Wesley , Organist of the Lodge .

fTlHE annual installation ceremony in connection with this Lodge -L took place on Monday evening , the 5 th inst ., at Swansea . There was a very large attendance of brethren and visitors . The installation was performed by Bro . Parry . The W . M . installed was Bro . Neil Leitch , who invested his Officers for the year , as follows : — Bros . Ten-ill S . W ., Taylor J . W ., Canon Walters , D . D ., Chaplain ,

Jones Treasurer , Lewis Secretary , Williams S . D ., Martin J . D ., Davis D . C , Groae Assistant D . C ., Pascoe I . G ., Broad Organist , Brown and Paton Stewards , Bnllerwell Tyler . A banquet afterwarda took place , at the Royal Motel . Host Rowe gave the most

complete satisfaction , as usual . The toasta of the M . W . the Grand Master , the R . W . Provincial Grand Master , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , tbe Worshipful Master , the Visitors , fche Past Masters , the Officers , and the Tyler , were all hononred . Several of the brethren gave musical assistance .

A REGULAR meeting of this Lods-e wai held afc the Fox and Hounds , Putney , on Wednesday , 7 th inst ., Bro . R . R . Colliok I . P . M . presiding . Bros . Williams S . W ., Wing J . W ., Watkins Treas ., Robinson P . M . Secretary , Wright acting S . D ., Sandalls J . D ., Oliver I . G ., Collings P . M . Dir . of Cuts ., Stacey P . M . Organist , Coombes Steward , Bowler Tyler ; P . M . 's Pardoe , H . Mansell , and about twenty

brethren . Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed . Lodge was opened in tbe second degree , Bros . Desmond and Organ were questioned and entrusted . Lodge was opened in the third degree and these two brethren were raised to the sublime degree of M . M . Lodge was resumed

to the first degree . Bro . Knight was examined and entrusted . Lodge waa resumed to the second degree , and Bro . Knight was passed to the degree of F . C . Lodge waa resumed to the firsfc . Bro . Williams S . VV . was elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . Watkins was re-elected Ireasurer ( for the thirteenth time ) , and Bro .

Walkley Tyler . Bros . Grundy , Gordon and Sterne were elected on the Audit Committee . The sum of 25 guineas , which had been voted to the list of the late VV . M . Bro . Strong , for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , was transferred fco the list of Bro . Williams

W . M . elect . After routine business , Lodge was closed in due form according to ancient custom , and the brethren adjourned for refreshments . The installation meeting will take place the first Wednesday in May .

PAXTON LODGE , No . 1686

A PLEASANT and happy hour or so can always be ensured by those members of the Craft who have the privilege of visiting the above Lodge , and the meeting on the 10 th inst . was no exception to this rule . The business—ably performed by the W . M . Bro . C S . Damant—was the initiation into our mysteries of Mr . C Granville Baker ( architect ) , ancl the passing of Bro . Williams . It being election

night , Bro . R . Canning Jones S . W . was by unanimous vote elected to the important office of W . M ., while Bro . J . M . Klenck P . M . was equally well supported in re-election as Treasurer . A jewel waa voted to Bro . Damant W . M . A notable event ; during the evening was the forwarding a telegram to the M . W . G . M . and H . R . H . the

Princess , congratulating their Royal Highnessea ou their Silver Wedding , with loyal wishes for their future happiness . This received a gracious reply . fJIHE monthly meeting of this popular ancl flourishing Lodge , on J- Saturday last , was rendered more than usually interesting , from the fact that the fixture took place on the 25 th anniversary of the marriage of the Priice and Princess of Wales . Tho auspicious circumstance was naturally seized upon by the W . M . and brethren as a suitable occasion for testifying to the M . W . G . M . and his

Illustrious Consort fche devotion , affection , and loyalty which animate the Masons of Leeds in general , and of the brethren of 2069 in particular .
