1211 , Scarth P . M . 289 , Moore , Hollis . Tomlinarm , Smith , & o . Two namo- * having been put hr-foro the L-vh / e as those of gMiilmneii snitiib'e for initiation into the Order , the W . M . th-n addressed the brethren present , as follows : —I have , askt'd the . W . M . 's of the Leeds L-idges to attend here to-day , t ^ e Silver Wedding day of the Prince

of Wales , for the purpose of sending to him an united expression of loyalty on this memorahl'i occasion . I recollect the ma-riage , which took place at St . Grorge ' s Chapel , Windsor , 25 years ago , very wt 11 and also the day when their Royal Highne-ses made their public entry into London . Some one has said that to look at the Princess

of Wales is to love her , and certainly when the English nation looked ou Her Royal Highness tbey loved her , and have loved her ever since . The poet laureate most happily expressed the mind of the English nation on that occasion , when he penned hia sp ' endid ode , of which ono verse is as follows : —

Sea King ' s daughter , as happy as fair , Beautiful bride of a blissful heir , Bride of the heir of the Kings of the Sea , Oh ! joy to the people and joy to the throne ,

Come to us , love us , and make us your own . For Saxon , or Dane , or Norman , we , Teuton or Celt , or whatever we be , We are each of us Danes in our welcome to thee , Alexandra !

Yes , from fche firsfc moment of her arrival fco the present , we have loved thePrinc .-ss , our future Queen . We have loved her not only for her gentle parts , 'her majestic mien , not merely for her sweet disposition , but in good truth for h"r consistent and simple goodness , for her devotion to her husband and children , and her adopted country ; and

I am sure of this that the hopus that were entertained at that Royal Ma-riage which fciok place 25 years a » o have been realised . We , as loyal Masons , happily meeting on this d > iy , unite in our expression of gratitude to the G . A . O . T . U . for having preserved the Roynl pair for so long . It is a long time in one ' s life , and it is a matter of

thankfulness that during that period no serious domestic calamity haa clouded their wedded life . As to H . R . H ., he is in every sense of the word a most popular man , anil in every sense of the word be has been a true Mason . I think ifc would be sadly wanting in us if we allowed this day to pass without sending some expresaion of our

feelings . As Lodge Prudence happens to meet on the actual day of tbe celebration , ifc struck me aa a happy thonght to » end a united Masonic greeting from Leeds , and I am extremely pleaded to know that my proposition meets with the unqualified approval of the membera of fche other seven Leeds Lodges . I propose fco send fche

following telegram to the Most Worshipfnl Grand Master . " The W . M . ' , Officers and Brethren of the 8 Masonic Lodges of Lefd « , in open Lodge , assembled under the binner of Lodge Prudence , No . 20 ( 19 , most respectfully and loyally greet H . R . H . the

Princo of Wales M . W . G . M ., and the Princess of Wales , ou this the celebration of their Silver WeiMing-day , and most earnestly p > ay T . G . A . O . T . U . to bless their Royal Highnesses for many ytara to come . "

Cartwright Smyth , in happy terms , added his voice to the general chorus of congratulation , and the motion having be u n adopted with great enthusiasm , it was at once despatched b y telegram fc > Sir Fras . Knollvs , for present tion . The Lodge shortly

af erwards closed in peace and harmony , and '' high tea " was partaken of by a large number of brethren and visitors . In the speeches sympathetic allusion was made by tho W . M . and others to the Fad bereavement which has befallen many noble families in Europe by the death of the German Emperor , who waa a friend and patron of the Craft .
