St . Hilda ' s Lodgo , " No . 240 . —At tho ordinary mooting on Monday night , hold in the Freemasons' Hall , Fowler-street , South Shields , Bro . J . II . Morton W . M . announced that in connection with the recent Centenary Festivities he had prepared a Masonio device containing a record of the whole of tho brethren who had filled the chair of K . S . during the 100 years the Lodgo had existed . He begged

to present tho record , which was framed with oak that had supported the sun dial in St . Hilda ' s Churchyard for 125 years , to tho Lodgo . Ho had also prepared a facsimile , on a smaller scale , of the device , a copy of which wonld bo given to each member of tho Lodge . Bro . James Eoddam , P . M . and D . of C , in the name of tho Officers , presented a handsome centenary banner , monnted on a massive and valuable stand . Bro . J . H . Thompson S . D . moved thafc tho cordial

thanks of tho brethren bo given to the W . M . for his generous and appropriate gift , and took the opportunity of mentioning that the heautifnl banner and stand presented by tho Officers , and which was tho theme of general admiration , was entirely designed by Bro . J . H . Morton . Bro . George Robson , seconded the motion , which was carried by acclamation . Tho W . M . briefly returned thanks , and tho Lodge ¦ n as afterwards closed in dno form .

Friars Lodge of Instruction . —A meeting was hold at Bro . Pavitt's , Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 13 fch April , Bros . Eawe S . W . 781 W . M ., Smith S . W . 860 S . W ., Power J . W ., P . M .

Myers S . D ., Fyfe J . D ., Day I . G ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Musto Preceptor , also Bros . Keable , Prosser , Stewart , White , Sadler , Watkins , Pavitfc , Andrews , Copo , & c . Tho Lodge opened in due form , and the minntes were read . Bro . P . M . Myers , as Auditor , gave the report for fche year , which was very satisfactory . Bro . Stewart answered the necessary questions ; the Lodge opened in second degree , when the

ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Bro . Worsley worked thefirstand second , Bro . Andrews the third and fourth sections of the lectnro . The Lodge was closed in the second degree , and Bro . Judd of 1441 , and Stewart of 898 , were unanimously elected members . Bro . W . J . Smith was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . Bro . Smith is an excellent worker , especially of the third ceremony , therefore a good

attendance may be expected . Ifc was resolved , on the proposition of tho Preceptor , thafc the Lodge be supplied with collars , jewels and aprons for its Officers . This will be a great addition to this pretty little Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Worsley as Secretary , and Bro . Pavitt as Treasnrer , were unanimously elected to fill their respective offices for tho ensuing twelve months . We were pleased to see Bro . Musto , after his recent illness , again in his place as Preceptor .

Eboracum Lodge , " No . 1611 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held at York , on Monday evening . Present : —Bros . C . G . Padel W . M ., J . S . Cumberland I . P . M ., T . B . Whytehead P . M ., G . Balmford P . M ., Rev . J . Metcalfe Chaplain , J . T . Seller S . W ., George Simpson J . W ., J . Kay Secretary , W . P . Husband Assistant Secretary , M . Millington S . D ., A . T . B . Turner as J . D ., 0 . Marshall Organist ;

with Bros . Eev . J . Blake , Ware , Thorp , Carter , Dyson , Girling , Hebblethwaite , Humphries , Atkinson , and other brethren . Amongst the visitors were Bros . J . Hanly P . M . St . Patrick ' s Lodge ( 4 th Dragoon Guards ) , and other military brethren , Bro . Gay ( Edinboro ) , and visitors from tho York Lodge . After the reading of the minutes a successful ballot was taken for a candidate . The agenda paper

contained a passing , but tho brother in question not being present instruction was given in tho third degree working . Bro . J . S . Cnmberland announced his list for the Girls' School Festival on Friday , which was of a most satisfactory character , and in tho course of the evening several considerable additions wore mado to it . Bro .

T . B . Whytehead presented to the Lodge , ou behalf of Bro . A . M Broadley P . M . of Tnuis , North Africa , a most valuable and carious pit'co of sculpture excavated last year in the ruins of ancient Carthage . Tho sculpturo is in an unfinished state , but represents a priest in tho attitude of invoking a blessing . The relic excited much enriosity , nncl it was determined that it should be enclosed in a suitable oak

mounting with an inscription , and placed upon the walls of tho Lod"e room . Tho Secretary was requested to write to Bro . Broadley conveying the hearty thanks of tho Lodge for his valuable present , and assuring him that his labours in the cause of the Craffc were duly appreciated by tho members of tho Eboracum Lodge , who were proud to have his name enrolled as one of their honorary members . Bro .

Whytehead also presented some books to the library , including a copy of Preston ' s Illustrations , Eeports of American Masonio Bodies , & o . Before closing the Lodge the W . M . said he could not refrain from expressing his gratification afc seeing so large an attendance of members . Ifc was the first Masonio meeting in York since the turmoil and trouble of political excitement through which they had

passed , and ho was sure that tho charm of their marvellous societ y would be moro thoroughly experienced than ever , affording as it did a peaceful platform where Whigs and Tories were forgotten , and where "burning questions" were consigned to the limbo of obscurity . Hearty good -wishes having been expressed , the Lodge was closed and the brethren and their Visitors adjourned to refreshment . After

the nsual preliminary toasts , the W . M . proposed the Prov . Grand Master and tho Officers past and present , which was responded to by Bros . T . B . Whytehead and G . Balmford . Tho S . W . proposed tho health of tho W . M ., and the latter , after responding , gave that of tho I . P . M . ( Bro . J . S . Cumberland ) , to whom ho said the Lodge was so largely indebted for its present excellent working , as well as its

preeminence in the work of charity . Bro . Cnmberland , in replying , said ho might very well be excused for being proud of belonging to a Lodge thafc had proved itself during its brief existence such a true representative body . Dnring its three-and-a-half years of life , tho Eboracum Lodge had been represented by eight Stewards afc tho various Festivals , and had sent np nearly £ 200 . Thanks to the

generosity of the brethren , his list for tho Girls' School next Friday was a very good and substantial ono . He thought it was much better for a Lodge to keep up a steady support of tho Three Charities than to make a spasmodic spurt in favour of somo ono charity and then stop short . The S . W . gave the Visitors , responded to by

Bro . Hanly P . M ., who said ho could never forget the hospitality of tho Masons of York . Bro . Whytehead proposed the Officers of the Lodge , and tho Tyler ' s toast brought a pleasant evening to a happy conclusion . Between tho toasts songs wero given by Bros . Cumberland , Humphries , and others . Wo hear that there is a probability of tho Eboracum Lodge being represented afc the Boys'Festival in June .

Cooke , the chair was occupied by Bro . W . Smeed P . M ., Argyle S . W ., Whora J . W ., Wolgemuth P . M . Treasurer , W . Piatt P . M . Secretary , Skinner S . D ., Ashton J . D ., Eossell I . G . ; Past Masters W . Waghorn and

Whitley , with several other brethren . After the Lodge had been formally opened , Bro . Alfred Loft was passed to the second degree . Several names for initiation and passing were on the agenda paper , bufc the candidates were not in attendence . Lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of a very excellent banquet , whereat Bro . W . Smeed P . M . ably presided . The usual toasts , both Loyal and Masonic , were given , and duly responded to ; and the brethren separated .

Kings Cross Lodge of Instruction , ITo . 1732 . —The members of the above Lodge met on the 11 th inst ., at the Blue Post Charlotte-street , Fitzroy-sqnare . Bro . H . M . Levy P . M . 188 as W . Whitley , with several other brethren . After the Lodge had been formally opened , Bro . Alfred Loft was passed to the second degree . Several names for initiation and passing were on the agenda paper , bufc the candidates were not in attendence . Lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of a very excellent banquet , whereat Bro . W . Smeed P . M . ably presided . The usual toasts , both Loyal and Masonic , were given , and duly responded to ; and the brethren separated .

This young and well appointed Lodge of Instruction is free from liabilities , and has already subscribed £ 10 10 s to the Boys' School .
