compliment . Bro . Salmon , who stated that he was associated with Bro . Acworth in auofchor Badge , announced that ho had mentioned to some of his friends that Rro . Acworth had been elected Master of this Lod ge ; those brethren had desired him to convoy to him their feelings of satisfaction in a practical form , and they therefore had had prepared an illuminated address , which he would now ventnre to read .

THE first meeting of tho winter session was held at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , on Tuesday last . Bros . T . H . Peirco W . M ., Henry Martin S . W ., E . Turing . T . W ., Charles Greenwood P . Tho Lodge was opened and the

minutes confirmed , after which some matters of interest to the members were discussed . Brother Morgan announced that the candidate—Dyer—in whom several members of tho Lodgo were interested , had been successful at the election of tho Royal Masonic Institution for Bovs the previous day , and congratulated the

brethren on this result being attained on the first application made on behalf of the lad . He also urged the brethren to support the candidature of Bro . Harper , an old member of tho St . Michael ' s Lodge , who was seeking the benefits of tho Benevolent Institution . After the Lodge was closed the brethren partook of banquet , and the evening was spent in a most harmonious manner .

THE annual installation meeting of this Lodge , which is one of the most prosperous in the Province of Middlesex , took place on Saturday last , at the Railway Hotel , Harrow , where there was a goodly assemblage of brethren and visitors , notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather . The proceedings were throughout of a most harmonious and agreeable description , and it is very evident

that through the judicious management of its Officers , the Lodge is in a most satisfactory condition from every point of view . At , two o ' clock Lodge was opened , in accordance with ancient rites , the chair being tilled by Bro . T . W . Cooper P . M . and Trensurcr P . P . G . J . D ., who was supported by Bros . J . After dinner , the customary Loyal and Masonic toasts wore given from the chair and

received with duo enthusiasm , reference being made by the Wor . shipful Master to Her Majesty the Queen as Patroness of the Craft , arid to the rapid strides made in Freemasonry since the accession of His Royal Highness tho Princo of Wales to tho office of Grand Master . He then gave the health of tho Grand Officers Present and

Past , alluding to the zeal aud ability with which the , affairs of Grand Lodgo were carried on by the rulers of the Craft ; this toast having met with its accustomed reception , was followed by that of tho Prov . Grand Master Bro . Sir Francis Bnrdett , Bart ., tho Deputy Provincial Grand Master Bro . Raymond Thrnpp . and the ro * t of the

Provincial Grand Officers . In doing so he spoke in felicitous terms of the excellent manner in which each and all of the Prov . Grand Officers exerted themselves to advance the interests of the Province , and of tho happy results which had attended their wise and discreet arrangements . He concluded by expressing the hope that the

harmony and unanimity which pervaded tbo Province , might long continue . Tho toast , was heartily recoivod , and was suitably acknowledged b y Bro . Coomb ^ s Prov . G . S D . who , in tho course of his observations , expressed the pleasure it . affor led I im to bo once more with the brethren of the Unity Lodge , after a lengthened

absence . Ho paid a fitting tribute to the zeal and admirable qualities of the Prov . Grand Master , who had earned tho affection and esteem of all the brethren of the Province , and of none more than the members of tho excellent Lodge under whose auspices they were now assembled . Tho Immediate Past Mas'er next

proposed the . health of the newly-installed Worshipful Master , whom he sincerely congratulated upon having attained the prond position he now occupied . He had passed through tho minor offices with great credit , and thero was every rpason to anticipate that in carrying out the more important functions of tho chair ho would acquit

himself with equal skill and to tho entire satisfaction of tho members of the Lodge . Ho considered tho brethren had made a wise and judicious selection in Bro . Woodmason , who would stndy the best interests of the Unity Lodge in every possible way . The toast was received enthusiastically , and the Worship ful Master , in

responding , thanked tho brethren for tho honour they had conferred upon him , and expressed the deep interest ho felt in the welfare and pro-perity of the Unity Lodge . It should he his constant stndy to promote that harmony and good feeling which , he was happy to say , now animated tho whole of the brethren , and to sustain the prestige

which tho Unity Lodge enjoyed . He subsequently gave the Visitors a cordial welcome , observing that brethren from other Lodges were always received with pleasure by members of the Unity Lodge , Tho toast , which was heartil y drunk , was responded to by Bros . J . I . Canfle P . M ., T . C . Edmonds , and 0 . Rogers , each of whom

complimemed the Lodge upon the excellence of its working , and the generous hospitality which had been evinced towards them at tho banquet table . The Worshipful Mast -r , in eulogistic terms , proposed tho health of tho Immediate Past Master and Installing Officer , Brother H . Slyman , allnding to the active zeal he had for

years displayed in promoting the welfare of tho Unity Lodge . Brother Slyman had won the esteem and regard of fcbo brethren generally , who all appreciated the fervency aud zeal with which ho carried out his duties ; and in recognition of the valuable services he had rendered to the Lodge they had unanimousl y voted him

a handsome Past Master s jewel , which ho had now the pleasnre of placing on Bro . Slyman ' s breast . He trusted that their excellent Immediate Past Master might live long to wear it , and to enjoy the affection and regard of the brethren among whom he bad laboured so zealously and well . He thanked Bro . Slyman for the kind and able

manner in which he had performed the installation ceremony that day , and spoke of the growing tendency in Masonic Lodges of retiring Masters installing their successors . That was a principle fhey ahoald all endeavour to emulate , and he sincerely congratulated Bro . Slymau upon having set so excellent an example on his occasion . The

Immediate Past Master , who was cordially received on rising to respond , expressed the pleasure it , had afforded him to perform tho installation ceremony , and in placing in the chair a Master so eminently worthy of tho confidence and respect , of the brf'hren as his old friend Bro . VVondmason . He thanked the brethren for their

handsome recognition of his prnall services to the Lodge , and said he should prize the jewel which had been present"d to him far more for tho generous motives which had prompted the gift than for its intrinsic vnlne .
