I . P . M . and the brethren for receiving the toast in such a cordial manner . He hoped , when the time came , to leave the chair wifch many a good friend . The health of the I . P . M . was cordially rereived and gracefully replied to . Next the W . M . proposed the

heilth ofthe AV . M . elect . Although nofc present Bro . Gny had been unanimously elected . Indisposition had prevented him being present , bufc a telegram had been sent him announcing his election . To this , later on , the AV . M . received the following reply : —

" Though absent in body , present in spirit . Thanks to all the brethren . —HENRY GUY . " The initiates were nexfc complimented . Bro . Dodds thanked the members for having elected him . The ceremony to him was very impressive , and he hoped to do credit to the Lodge . Bro . Richardson

also replied . In speaking of the Secretary and Treasnrer the W . M . i = nid they were brethren who looked after the interest of the Lodge . AN emergency meeting of this flourishing Lodge was held at the Sun Hotel , Kingston , on AVednesday , when about fifty brethren assembled to take part in the proceedings , thns evidencing the hold Freemasonry has secured in this thriving district . Edward AVilliam Redman , aged 32 , proposed by Bro . Mabey , seconded by Brother Rumbelow ; Mr . AVilliam Thomas Massey , aged 37 , proposed by Bro .

Rumbelow , seconded by Bro . Betts ; and for Mr . Robert Harwin , aged 32 , proposed by Bro . J . Dorey , seconded by Bro . G . Moorman The result was declared unanimous in favour of all three candidates . Lodge was now opened in the second degree , and Bros . Dorey and Bugler underwent examination , they being candidates for the benefits of the third . In due conrso thev were entrusted and

1 st as Steward for tho Boys' School Festival of next year . Brother Mon ' agne S . W . undertook to represent the "Old People" at the Festival in February next , while Bro . Curtis expressed his willingness to do all in his power for the Royal Masonic Institntion for Girls . As a result tho Lodge will again bo represented at the three

Festivals of the approaching yenr . Several matters in connection with the Lodge having received attention , it was formally closed . Tho brethren now partook of a cosy little supper , bountifully provided by Mrs . Frayling , hostess of the "Sun . " The after proceedings wire marked with that spirit of geniality and harmony that characterises this Lodge .

Letters of apology for non-attendance were read from the M . W . Provincial Grand Master , tho Provincial Senior and Junior Wardens , and P . M . ' s Horsey and Rood . The minutes of the previous meeting

having been read and confirmed , the following gentlemen were ballotted for , approved and initiated : —Messrs . James Salter Whiter of Sunny Bank , Wallington , Walter Joseph Baker of Cottisbrooke , Wallington , William Hood of Croydon , and Joseph Edward Jeffa of New Cross . The candidates having been prepared were admitted

into the Lodgo two at a time , and the ceremony was admirably performed by the AV . M ., who subsequently gave fche ancient charge in aa impressive manner . On the W . M . rising for the second time , Bro . Pile announced that an important communication had been made to him by the Directors of the Public Hall Company , who were

willing to build a new Lodge room , wifch two extra rooms and a separate staircase , on condition of the Lodge entering into an agreement to take ifc for 14 or 21 years . A Committee was subsequently appointed , consisting of the W . M ., principal Officers , and Brothers Ward , Jones , Manley , Harwood , and S . Whiter , to consider the

matter . The brethren then adjourned to the Greyhound Hotel for refreshment , which was capitally served by Brother Verdon . The usual Loyal and Masonio toasts having been proposed and honoured , the AV . M . proposed the Provincial Grand Master and Officers for Surrey , to whioh Bro . Frost P . S . D . replied . Ho stated

he had been connected with Masonry for many years , nnd was very pleased when their W . M . became a Prov . G . Officer . The vacancies , of course , were few , and ifc waa a great honour to tbe Lodge to have their Master acknowledged . There was plenty of work , too , and he was pleased to say thafc the Wallington was brought to notice as one

of tbe best working and mosfc promising Lodges m the Province . Bro . Bishop P . M . also replied ; as a humble representative of the Lodge he was glad to know there was work fco do ; he could promise he would do all in his power to promote the interests of the members . Bro . Pile hoped that all the Masters of the Wallington

would in due course receive the purple collar . Bro . Carter I . P . M . proposed in eloquent terms the health of the Worshipfnl Master . The Worshipfnl Master in reply said thafc he had done no more than his duty , and even then he felt he had performed it in but a feeble manner ( No , no ) ; however , he had tried his best . Ifc was hia intention

to serve as Steward for the Benevolent Institution , and he hoped to obtain many votes thafc would become the property of the Lodge ; he trusted the Wallington Lodge wonld become a power in the Province .

The Initiates duly responded to the toast given in their honour . The Visitors , Pasfc Masters , and Officers were nexfc respectively honoured , and the meeting closed in harmony , after the parting toasfc had beau given by fche Tyler .

Spurr , who was proposed by Bro . George Gardner and seconded by Bro . John Ellis ; likewise Mr . AVilliam Maskell , proposed by Bro . George Gardner , and seconded by Bro . Frederick Lawrance AV . M The ballot was in favour of these latter candidates , and as all three were in attendance they wore introduced and regularly admitted to

the privileges of Freemasonry . Lord George Hamilton ( First Lord of tho Admiralty ) was elected AV . M . for the ensuing year , the installation to take place in January . Bro . George Everett was re . elected Treasnrer , and Bro . Rowe Tyler . After routine work Lodge was closed , and the brethren and their guests repaired fco Bro . Brill ' s

Dining Hall , where a recherche banquet was served . Afc its conclusion the usual Loyal toasts were done full justice to . Inconsequence of important Parliamentary duties Lord George Hamilton was compelled to leave , the health of the AV . M . elect was therefore

proposed at an early stage of the proceedings . Lord George expressed his gratification at having been elected AV . M . ; he had scarcely given that attention to his Masonic duties hitherto as their importance demanded ; still ho felfc he should have every assistance from the Officers and Pasfc Masters . He looked forward

with pleasurable anticipations to the day when he should be installed , when he trusted there would be a goodly gathering of some of the most popular members of the Craft . The health of fche W . M . waa proposed , in the absence of tho I . P . M ., by Bro . George Everett , and Bro . Lawrance gracefully replied . Naturally in a Lodge where he ia

so popular , and where he has held the post of firsfc W . M ., reference was mado to the candidature of Bro . Everett for the post of Grand Treasurer , and sturdy promises of support and encouragement wore tendered him . Brother Georgo Gardner ( the bard-working
