THB annual installation meeting of this Lodgo was held on Thursday , 8 th inst ., nt the Athenmum , Camden-road , under tho presidency of Bro . Thos . Eccleston Gibb W . M . The usual ceremonies having been observed in regard to opening , tho minutes of the last regular Lodge , nnd of a Lodge of Emergency were confirmed . Tho
ballot was taken for two candidates for initiation , Mr . Frederick AVilliam AVobb , who was proposed by tho AV . M . elect , and seconded by Bro . Rawlinson , nnd Mr . Robert Orrock , who had Bros . Abbot and Hyman for sponsors . Both were accepted , and subsequently admitted in due form to tho benefits of Masonio light . The Secretary of the
Lodge , Bro . R . D . Cummings P . M ., then installed Bro . James Percy Fitzgerald ns AV . M . for the ensuing year . The new ruler was regularly sainted and then appointed the following as his Officers : — - Bros . H . Halliday S . AV ., J . Corbett P . M . J . W ., E . Jolliffe P . M . Treas ., R . D . Tho Senior Warden proposed tbo toast of tho Pro Grand Master , which was followed , from the south , by that of the Deputy Grand Master and tho other Officers of Grand Lodge . The
Junior Warden was sure the toast would be well received , as it was customary for Freemasons to pay honour to those at their head . Thoy had the pleasure of welcoming among them a most distinguished Grand Officer , ono wbo had conferred honour on their Lodge by allowing it to bo called after him—Bro . Derby Allcroft . The
members of tho Lodge considered it a great hononr to bo thus intimately associated with Bro . All croft , ' who had done much for the benefit of Freemasonry , and had won esteem throughout tbe Craft . Bro . AUcro'fc replied , thanking Bro . Corbett and the brethren for tbe kindness they hitd evinced towards him . Ho considered his own
career was a living example of the honours which might fall to any man ' s lot in Freemasonry . Ho had nob sought them , but when be had them conferred upon him he had striven to show how much he appreciated the confidence reposed in him . He had been elected to one of the most dignified positions in the Craft—that of Givind
Treasurer , aud fully appreciated the compliment . As evidence that he had not completed his work in becoming a Past Grand Officer he referrad to the Committee of Investigation then sitting in connection with the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . De had been selected as one of a few appointed to conduct that
inqnir }' , and ho conld assure the Craft ho was devoting his best attention to the work entrusted to him . That Committee had already held several meetings , and it was hoped that the first section of the inquiry would be completed thafc week . They would then listen to what could bo said in the way of suggested improvement " , ancl after
that would submit thoir report , which report they all hoped would provo of benefit to tho Institntion concerned . Bro . Gibb next proposed tlie health of the Worshipful Master . Ho folt the members owed to their present Master all the honour which was at present associated with the Lodge . He it was who had been the prime
mover in its foundation , and to him they had looked for a solution of all the difficulties they had so successfully surmounted . In submitting the toast , therefore , ofthe AVorshipful Master , he had no hesitation in asking fche brethren fco do hononr to it , while he had equal confidence in promising the Master all the help it was in the power of
tho members to afford . The AVorshipfiil Master replied , thanking the brethren , and assuring them their kind expressions would act as an incentive to him to strive to do more for the Lodgo than he had hitherto done . As a founder ofthe Loclgo he could bufc say how well the members had supported them in the work of establishment , and
he hoped that as years went on ifc would continue to hold a high position in the Craft . He now submitted the toast of the Immediate Past Master , aud presented to thafc brother the jewel provided by the Lodge , in appreciation of his services during the past year . Brother
Gibb replied , and the Master gave the health of tho Initiates , which ho described ns a most important toast afc all times , but particularly so in a young Lodge such as theirs . While they were anxious fco havo new members they were also desirous that none but worthy men should bs associated with them . He had no hesitation in
offering a cordial greeting to tho two brethren admitted that day . Each of the initiates responded , Bro . Webb hoping he might profit by fche excellent lessons that hud been set him that day , and that he might cven ' nally become a useful member of the Lodge . Tha health of tho Installing Master Bro . The Royal National Life-boat Institntion haa contributed £ 400 to the fund which is being raised locally for tbe benefit of the widows aud orphans of the four life-boatmen who unfortunately lost their lives on the occasion of the capsizing of tho volunteer Life-boat ' Refuge , off Gorleston , on Saturday , the 10 th instant . The Life-boat in question does not belong to the Institution , and is in no way connected with it .
