NUMBER LODGE , No . 57 . rilHE 68 th anniversary of the laying of tho foundation stone of the Hall of J . the Humber Lodgo , in Osborne Street , Hull , was celebrated on the 7 th inst . ' At tho opening of the Lodge Bro . M . J . Martinson the Worshipful Master was supported by a large number of the Members and Visitors .
The only business before the Lodge was the presentation of a testimonial to Bro . James Wildbore the Immediate Past Master . During the twelve months of his rule Bro . Wildbore had been distinguished by his zeal , . assiduity and close attention to his duties , and had won the highest esteem " and respect . On his relinquishing the chair he was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel , but it was felt that he had fairly won further recognition , says the " Hull Daily News , " and the Committee which was formed for the
purpose met with hearty support , and obtained a sum sufficient to purchase a silver tea service , beautifully worked , from the establishment of Bro . Past Master King , silversmith and jeweller , Market Place . The presentation of the testimonial at this anniversary was most opportune , for it was likewise commemorative of Bro . Wildbore ' s silver wedding , and many were the hearty good wishes expressed for the long life and happiness of his wife and family and himself .
Upon Bro . Past Master Wilson devolved the honour of making tho presentation . He said he had had the pleasure of knowing Bro . Past Master Wildbore nearly all his life , and he could speak of him as a worthy neighbour and hououred townsman . In his Masonic life he had known him from his infancy , for he was his first candidate , and all the Brethren who had passed the chair knew the great interest and concern with which a new Master viewed nis first initiate . He felt sure that Bro . Wildbore would fulfil his
expectations and the expectations of tho Lodge as a worthy and distinguished Mason . He had watched him all through the Offices he had filled , and the very able way in which he discharged the duties of Senior Warden led to his being elected to the highest Office it was in the power of the Brethren to bestow upon one of their number . He trusted that the beautiful tea service which it was now his pleasure to present to Bro . Wildbore would be an incentive to hia family in the honourable and just performance of the duties of this life and a stimulus to follow in the stops of their honoured father .
"' Bro . Past Master Wildbore , in accepting the testimonial , said ho felt truly grateful for the kind expressions of Bro . Past Master Wilson , and he found it very difficult to find words to express his sincere thanks to all for the magnificent present they had thought fit to present to him that night , it proved to him that his humblo efforts to please had merited their approval . Great were the responsibilities entailed upon the Brother filling the chair of King Solomon of the Humber Lodge , and he felt proud to know that he had
discharged the duties during 1894 to their satisfaction . It was a signal honour they had paid him in presenting him with that beautiful testimonial , and he could assure them it would be highly esteemed by his family circle as a valuable memento of his Masonic life . As long as ho lived he should appreciate their kindness , and he gave them the assurance tbat ho should continue to do his utmost to promote thc welfare and prosperity of the Humber Lodge . Each piece of plate bore the following : —
