Between thirty and forty - Brethren afterwards dined together at the feorge , the Host and Hostess Bro . and Mrs . Mutton doing all in thoir power for the comfort of tha guests .
LONDESBOROUGH LODGE , No . 734 . AT the monthly meeting on Tuesday , 7 th inst ., at Bridlington , Brother F . Greaser P . M . P . P . G . St . B . delivered a most interesting and instructive address , entitled , "Tho Ancient Ritnal . " The lecture was an excellent one ,
and was delivered by Bro . Greaser in that admirable and impressive manner for which he is so favourably known amongst the Graft in his Province . At tho conclusion of the lecture a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the lecturer , on tho motion of Bro . I . Willboum W . M .
ROYAL GLOUCESTERSHIRE LODGE , No . 839 . AT tho annual installation festival , hold at the Bell Hotel , Gloucester , ou Monday , Gth inst ., Bro . James Bruton was presented with a P & st Master ' s and P . Z . Jewel , and tho Brethren also added a memento of his year of office for Bro . Bruton's wife .
The presentation was made in happy terms by Bro . Nelson Foster , and gracefully accepted . Bro . R . P . Sumner was installed for the second time as Master of tho Lodge .
FORTESCUE LODGE , No . 847 . THE half-yearly dinner in connection with tho Lodge took place at the Dolphin Hotel , Honiton , on Tuesday , 7 th inst ., the chair being occupied by the VV . M . Bro . S . Mellhuish . Brethren were present from Exeter , Exmouth , Ottery St . Mary , and Sidmouth . Bro . Banfield catered in his usual first-rate manner , and a convivial evening was spent .

A banquet took place in the evening at the Royal Oak , under his presidency , there being a large attendance . The health of the W . M . was proposed by

The Installing Master was Bro . Duret P . M . P . P . G . S . D , who also did his work remarkably well . During tho meeting sympathetic reference was made to tho great affliction which had overtaken the highly respected Secretary
Bro . Jewel , who has been connected with the Lodge for twenty-seven years ( ho was the first initiate ) , twenty-one of which he has been the Secretary . Bro . Jewel , who desired to resign , was , however , heartily re-appointed Secretary .
The banquet was held iu tho Parish Room , and , as on previous occasions , was a great success in every respect .

In the evening the annual banquet was held at the Wheatsheaf Hotel , when the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

Previous to the closing of the Lodge , the Deputy Grand Master Brother Hamon Lo Strange , at thc request of the Worshipful Master , performed a very pleasing ceremony , in presenting , on behalf of the Lodge , each of the
following Past Masters : —Bros . H . 0 . Lyus , J . Evans , J . Flatman , T . W . Gaze , S . Smith , Geo . W . Webb , D . Simpson , H . C . Green , G . S . Panks , A . Tyrrell , and J . J . Rash—with a handsome Past Master's jewel . The jewels , which were supplied by Messrs . Vaushton and Sons , Birmingham , were
engraved with thc name and number of tho Lodge , and the year of Mastership . . Past Blaster C . T . M . Montgomerie ( from whom the Lodge took its name ) and Past Master VV . G . Rice were unfortunately not able to attend to receive their jewels .
The installation banquet followed at the King s Head Hotel , the W . M . presiding . In responding to the toast of the Prov . G . M . Lord Suffield , the Deputy G . M . Hamon Le Strange , and the Prov . Grand Officers present and past
Bro . Hamon Le Strange congratulated the Lodge on tho manner in which all the work was carried out , and thanked tho Brethren for asking him to perform the pleasing duty of presenting so many worthy Past Masters with a memento of thoir year of office .
The Masonic Charities was acknowledged by Bro . F . Binckes , for many years Secretary of the Boys School , who stated that between £ 70 , 000 aud £ 80 , 000 was annually subscribed by tho Brothren in aid of the three great Masonic Charities .
In submitting the Worshipful Master Bro . W . A . Smith ,-Bro . J . J . Rash said he had noticed that ever since Bro . Smith was initiated he had Masonry at heart , and in the various offices he had filled Bro . Smith had done all his work in a thorough manner , which augured well for his success during the ensuing year .
The Worshipful Master , in response , observed that one of the ambitions of his life had been fulfilled that evening , for he frankly confessed that from the timo of his initiation into the Craft he aspired to occupy the high office
which thc Brethren of Montgomerie Lodge bad kindly conferred upou him , He heartily acknowledged the great honour that had been done him , and he would endeavour to discharge the duties with satisfaction to every member of the Lodgo .
