THE LATE BRO . L . M . COCKCROFT .

IT is with much regret we have to announce the death of tho K . W . Bro . L . M . Cockcroft , who for many years held the high office of Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Northumberland , as well as thafc of Provincial Grand Superintendent of the Royal Arch Chapter . His death occurred quite suddenly while on a visit afc Dumfresne . His loss will be severely felt throughout the whole Craffc . He waa a

staunch supporter of our Charities , and in every sense of the word a hard-working Mason . Tho remains of Bro . L . M . Cockcroft , who waa also for many years coroner for the Southern Division of Northumberland , wero brought to his residence in Newcastle , and interred at tho Jesmond Old Cemetery , on Saturday last . At the funeral all the town Lodgea of the Masonic body , and most of tho

country Lodges , were represented , amongst those present being Bros . J . Ward Mustart , R . L . Armstrong , Milburn , J . Cook , J . Hotham , J . Straker Wilson , R . G . Salmon , 0 . gentleman in Victoria Square , Jesmond Road , shortly before mid-day . The funeral service was most impressively read by the Rev . G . Raines , Vicar of St . Peter ' s , with which church Bro . Cockcroft waa for many yeara connected . The coffin , which was covered with flowers , bore the inscription , " Lonsdale Maving Cockcroft , aged 54 , died June 6 th , 1881 . When the service was over , and aa the grave was about to be filled in , each of fche Masons present dropped a sprig of acacia on the coffin .
