M . then gave proof of his proficiency by investing and appointing his Officers ia a way that proved he

interval , arrangements of Lodge business disposed of , Lodge was closed and adjourned to adjoining room , where an excellent banquet was provided by Bro . DartnaU I . P . M . The usual Masonio toasts were submitted and duly honoured , the W . M . displaying judgment and sincerity in bis pithy and brief remarks . Among others who responded for the Visitors was an old family friend of the W . M . ' s , Bro .

J . E . Shand , who expressed tho pleasure it was to travel south to witness tbe W . M . installed . Some of the brethren of the Lodge , assisted by Madame Minnie Curtis , gave some excellent songs , the lady calling forth great applause , aud with her accustomed geniality answering an encore . The brethren , numbering about GO , separated after the Tyler ' s toast , about eleven o ' clock , having spent a very pleasant aud enjoyable evening .

THE first meeting under the newly-installed W . M . was held in the Masonio Rooms , Nether Hall Road , Doncaster , on Friday , the 3 rd inat ., when fchero were present Bros . F . Webb W . M ., J . confirmed , and the Secretary having introduced several matters respecting the Lodge premises , the discussion thereon was adjourned until July . After a proposition , and "hearty good , wishes" from the visitors , the Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the ante-room , where refreshment was provided .

of the previous meeting woro read anti confirmed . Tho ballot was taken for Mr . William Alderley Boyd , who was duly elected , and afterwards initiated into Freemasonry by the W . M . After preliminaries , Bro . Chenery waa passed to tho second degree by Brother Chesworth . Prior to tho Lodge being closed the W . M . alluded in

feeling terms to the untimely death of Bro . Georgo Jackson , who succumbed after an operation . Bro . Jackson was very popular with and much liked by all the members , and hia death is much regretted .

A letter of condolence was ordered to bo sent to his widow , expressive of tho sincere sympathy in her bereavement of every member of the Lodgo . There being no farther business , tho Lodgo was closed in peace and harmony . Ia consequence of Bio . Jackson ' s death there

At the banquet which followed the'Worshipfnl Master ( Bro . Tyrwhitt Drake ) presided . Upon the removal of the cloth the AVorshipful Master gave the toasts of the Queen and the Craft , the Grand Master H . R . H . the Prince of AValo ? , and the Grand

Officers . In proposing that of the Provincial Grand Master ( Lord Henniker ) , the Worshipful Master observed that his lordship ' s name was a household word among Suffolk Masons , and the generous hospitality whioh he dispensed at Thornham last year was evidence of tho great interest he took in the Craft . The toast was received with Lodge honours . Bro . AV . T . Branger , in proposing the

Deputy Provincial Grand Master and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , said that he had only to mention the name of Bro . the Rev . C . J . Martyn to elicit the most hearty response to the toast , which at the present time had especial significance from the fact that they wore soon to lose their Deputy Provincial Grand Master . As they were perhaps aware , Brc . Martyn was to take up

bis residence in Gloucestershire , but how far that would affect his connection with Suffolk Masonry they did not yet know ; indeed , he did not think that Bro . Martyn knew himself . He coupled with the toast the names of Bro . Rev . Tighe Gregory and Bro . VV . Cocks , both of whom suitably responded , the former expressing his feeling towards the members of the Lodgo as the Irishman did towards the

other sex , " That he wished they had bat one rosy mouth that he might kiss them all from north to south . " Bro . Dr . G . E . Jeaffreson , in submitting the toast of the evening , tho AVorshipful Master , Bro . Drake , remarked that he had attended many of theso gathering " , but he did not think he ever had more satisfaction in proposing u toast than he had on that occasion . Their friend , Bro . J . B . Fraser ,

had that day installed a Master who they all knew would be an hononr to the old Lodge to which he belonged—a Lodge which had survived various migrations , but which , he ventured to say , never had a worthier home than that of the old town of Framlingham . They had all Feen Bro . Drake ' s work in the Lodge , and had seen tbe courteous and kindly way in which ho conducted himself towards

all , and he ( the speaker ) was sure tbat kindly conduct would inspire fidelity and activity in the Officers of the Lodge , and would help him considerably in performing the duties of his office . The Worshipfnl Master , in returning thanks , said he felt they had conferred a groat honour upon him in electing him AVorshipful Master of the Lodge . He assured them that it would bo his endeavour to

do his utmost for tho Lodge in particular and Freemasonry iu general . The Immediate Past Master had set a high ideal before him of what a Master should be , and which he felt it would be impossible for him to attain , but at the samo timo ho would do bis best , and ho knew ho had a set of Officers who would assist him in carrying out that object . In conclusion , he proposed tho health of

the Immediate Past Blaster , Bro . AV . T . Brunger , who , ho testified , had filled the chair with zeal and energy . Brother Brunger acknowledged the compliment in appropriate terms . The other toasts wero—tho Officers of the Lodge , coupled with the names of Bros . Vernon and Lynch , the Installing Master ( Bro . J . B . Fiaser ) , the Visitors . & c .

rilllE annual installation iu connection with this Lodge took placo . 1- on tho 8 th inst ., when , iu audition to the local brethren , there were 16 visitors from tbo districts of Lichfield , Rngeloy , Birmingham , Wolverhampton , Dudley , Burton-on . At the banquet which followed the'Worshipfnl Master ( Bro . Tyrwhitt Drake ) presided . Upon the removal of the cloth the AVorshipful Master gave the toasts of the Queen and the Craft , the Grand Master H . R . H . the Prince of AValo ? , and the Grand

Officers . In proposing that of the Provincial Grand Master ( Lord Henniker ) , the Worshipful Master observed that his lordship ' s name was a household word among Suffolk Masons , and the generous hospitality whioh he dispensed at Thornham last year was evidence of tho great interest he took in the Craft . The toast was received with Lodge honours . Bro . AV . T . Branger , in proposing the

Deputy Provincial Grand Master and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , said that he had only to mention the name of Bro . the Rev . C . J . Martyn to elicit the most hearty response to the toast , which at the present time had especial significance from the fact that they wore soon to lose their Deputy Provincial Grand Master . As they were perhaps aware , Brc . Martyn was to take up

bis residence in Gloucestershire , but how far that would affect his connection with Suffolk Masonry they did not yet know ; indeed , he did not think that Bro . Martyn knew himself . He coupled with the toast the names of Bro . Rev . Tighe Gregory and Bro . VV . Cocks , both of whom suitably responded , the former expressing his feeling towards the members of the Lodgo as the Irishman did towards the

other sex , " That he wished they had bat one rosy mouth that he might kiss them all from north to south . " Bro . Dr . G . E . Jeaffreson , in submitting the toast of the evening , tho AVorshipful Master , Bro . Drake , remarked that he had attended many of theso gathering " , but he did not think he ever had more satisfaction in proposing u toast than he had on that occasion . Their friend , Bro . J . B . Fraser ,

had that day installed a Master who they all knew would be an hononr to the old Lodge to which he belonged—a Lodge which had survived various migrations , but which , he ventured to say , never had a worthier home than that of the old town of Framlingham . They had all Feen Bro . Drake ' s work in the Lodge , and had seen tbe courteous and kindly way in which ho conducted himself towards

all , and he ( the speaker ) was sure tbat kindly conduct would inspire fidelity and activity in the Officers of the Lodge , and would help him considerably in performing the duties of his office . The Worshipfnl Master , in returning thanks , said he felt they had conferred a groat honour upon him in electing him AVorshipful Master of the Lodge . He assured them that it would bo his endeavour to

do his utmost for tho Lodge in particular and Freemasonry iu general . The Immediate Past Master had set a high ideal before him of what a Master should be , and which he felt it would be impossible for him to attain , but at the samo timo ho would do bis best , and ho knew ho had a set of Officers who would assist him in carrying out that object . In conclusion , he proposed tho health of

the Immediate Past Blaster , Bro . AV . T . Brunger , who , ho testified , had filled the chair with zeal and energy . Brother Brunger acknowledged the compliment in appropriate terms . The other toasts wero—tho Officers of the Lodge , coupled with the names of Bros . Vernon and Lynch , the Installing Master ( Bro . J . B . Fiaser ) , the Visitors . & c .
