§ T . LEONARD CHAPTER , No . 1766 . A CONVOCATION was held at the Great Eastern Hotel , on Wednesday , when Comp . William Shurmur P . G . Std . Br . presided in the absence of the M . E . Z . Comp . James Speller , and was assisted by Comps . James Boulton P . A . G . D . C . as H ., and William Gower as J . There were also present Comps . S . C . Kaufman I . P . Z ., George H . Clark S . E ., Arthur Ounnington S . N ., C . Batchelor , A . Greenwood , A . A . Barnes , J . Tollworthy , H . Prenton , & c .
The Chapter having been formally opened by the Principals , the Companions were admitted , when the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed .
The ballot was taken for the following Brethren as candidates for exaltation : —Bernard Jacob , Herbert Pate , William Dunz , of the St . Leonard Lodge ,- No . 1766 ; Charles Thompson , of the Shurmur Lodge , No . 2374 ; and H . Williamson , of the Old Concord Lodge , No . 172 ; all of whom were approved .
Bros . Dunz , Thompson , Pate and Williamson being in attendance were admitted , and regularly exalted to the supreme degree . The ceremony was rendered by Comp . Shurmur in his most able manner , and doubtless made a due impression upon the candidates . Comp . Clark also acted most efficiently as the Principal Sojourner .
The lectures were admirably rendered by Comp . Gower , who gave the Historical ; Comp . Boulton , who delivered the Symbolical ; and Comp . Shurmur , who explained the'Mystical portions of the Degree . There being no other business , the Chapter was closed , and the Companions adjourned to dinner . Although Comp . Speller was unable to be present , he was not unmindful of his duties as M . E . Z ., and provided an excellent musical entertainment , which was arranged by Comp . Prenton .

FORTITUDE LODGE , No . 78 . THE installation meeting was held on Tuesday , 7 th inst ., at Truro , when Bro . E . Benney was placed in the chair and subsequently appointed the Officers for the year . Bro . W . J . Johns Treasurer of the Lodge was warmly congratulated on the honour conferred on him by the Grand Master , in the appointment to the office of Grand Standard Bearer of England .

CRAET : PROVINCIAL .
SINCERITY LODGE , No . 189 . AT the monthly meeting , held at the Town Hall , Stonehouse , on Monday , 13 th inst ., Bro . F . S . Hodge S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . G . Hawken was re-elected Treasurer . The Worshipful Master-elect , in returning thanks , said he trusted that
the confidence of the Brethren would be shown to be justified , and that the honour of Lodge Sincerity would be untarnished in his keeping . Brother Hawken expressed his willingness to again look after the financial interests of the Lodge , as requested by the Brethren .
It was resolved to apply to the Provineial Grand Master Sir Stafford Northcote , to grant a dispensation so that the installation could be postponed until the third Monday in the ensuing month . The banquet is to be held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel .
RURAL PHILANTHROPIC LODGE , No . 291 . AT the monthly meeting , held at tho Bailway Hotel , Highbridge , on Friday , 10 th inst ., Bro . F . W . Bishop S . W ., of Bridgwater , was unanimously chosen W . M . for the ensuing year , as successor to Brother J . Burnett . Bro . T . Floyd Norris was appointed Treasurer .
ooo BENEVOLENCE LODGE , No . 666 . THE annual election meeting took place at Princetown , Dartmoor , on Wednesday , Sth inst ., when Brother James Clift S . W . was unanimously chosen as W . M ., with Bros . Stapledon and Barrington Treasurer and Tyler respectively . The installation meeting will take place on the 13 th proximo , and will be followed by a banquet at the Duchy Hotel .
HIGH PEAK LODGE , No . 1952 . THE annual festival was celebrated at the Town Hall , Chapel-en-le-Fritb , on Monday , 13 th inst ., when Bro . W . Hobson was installed W . M . for the year , and the assistant Officers were appointed .
JOSIAH WEDGWOOD LODGE , No . 2214 . ON Thursday , 9 th inst ., the members , with their wives and friends , had a most enjoyable outing to Chester , and Eaton Hall . The party , which numbered about a hundred , on arriving at the ancient city , were met by a number of brakes , in which they drove through Chester to the Bed Lion Hotel for luncheon . Afterwards they proceeded by way of the suspension
bridge , crossing Queen ' s Park to Ecclestone Ferry , where the boat " Ontario " was specially chartered for the river trip to Eaton . All aboard , the party were photographed . The weather was all that could be desired , and the journey was much enjoyed to the Heron Bridge—some two miles from Eaton . Here an unfortunate mishap occurred . A valve of the engine refused to act , and
further progress was impeded for half-an-bour . Eventually the party landed and walked through the Duke of Westminster ' s estate to the Hall , the various departments of which were inspected . The return journey was made via the Paddocks , the main entrance , and Chester Castle , and dinner was partaken of at the Bed Lion . Chester was left in three specially provided saloons at 7 * 30 , the day ' s proceedings having been quite successful .

ALL SAINTS LODGE , No . 1716 . A MEETING of this flourishing Lodge was held at the Lodge room , High Street , Poplar , E ., on Thursday evening , when Bro . J . 0 . Carpenter I . P . M . presided , in the absence of the W . M ., and opened the Lodge with praiseworthy punctuality at five o ' clock . Ke was assisted by Bros . C . W . Raymond acting I . P . M ., William Bland S . W ., F . Whitlock J . W ., Jas . Y .

After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken and proved unanimous in favour of Messrs . Harold Thomas , John Fiddy , Henry Treby , Samuel Percy Guernsey , and Francis Willers .
The Secretary read a letter from Brother 3 . 3 . Olley W . M . of the St . John at Hackney Lodge , No . 2511 , requesting that the Master of All Saints Lodge would be good enough to raise Bro . F . J . Trewartha to the third degree , as he was properly qualified , and under pressing engagement to leave England on Friday next . This request was acceded to , and Bro . Trewartha took his place with Bros . J . C . Holden , 3 . H . Rogers , and F . Hills , the other candidates for the third degree , and all answered the questions of the Fellow Craft . Having been entrusted they were regularly raised to the sublime degree , and took their seats in the Lodge as Master Masons .
The five gentlemen above mentioned were then introduced and regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Freemasonry . All the ceremonies were admirably rendered by Bro . Carpenter .
