on Brother Eobert Bradley to respond to this toast . After a song by Brother Fred . H . Cozens , who is deservedly a popular favorite with the Reading brethren , Bro . Bradley rose . Ho briefly reviewed tho progress Freemasonry was making in tho Province , as illustrated more fully at the last meeting of Prov . Grand Lodge , hold afc Reading in June last . He spoko of what was being dono by way

of the establishment of Masonic Halle , and expressed gratification at the consideration that was being given to this matter . Tho members of tho Grey Friars wero happily circumstanced in holding their banquet at the Great Western Hotel . Bro . Bradley next referred to the attention given to the review of the Book of Constitutions , and to Bro . Clabon's proposal to increase the payments to the Fund of

Benevolence , and urged on the brethren to attend Graud Lodge when tho question came on for discussion , and continue tho opposition they agreed on at last Provincial Grand Lodgo , to bring to bear on this proposal . In conclusion , he complimented tho Lodge ou its working and prosperous condition , and expressed his pleasure at seeing Bro . Eidley in the Senior Warden ' s chair . In proposing the health of tho W . M .,

Bro . Blackwell was assured Bro . Dowsett would do all iu his power to uphold the prestige of his Lodge . After a song by Bro . Hickie , Bro . Dowsett rose . The encouragement ho hacl hitherto received would give him zest to persevere . At the same time , he felt that without tl'o assistance of those who had preceded him ho feared he shonld fall short of what he desired . One thing he felt he could urge

on behalf of the Lodge , —it was not number , bnt quality , thafc was desired . For the Visitors , Bros . Cater and Hodge replied . In responding to the toast of the Immediate Past Master , Bro . Blackwell , after recognising the heavy responsibilities attached to his late position , thanked one and all for the assistance he had received in behalf of his Stewardship , and impressed on the brethren the

desirability of continuing their support to the new Master . He thought that tho brilliant assemblage that had gathered together that day might be accepted as a happy augury for Brother Dowsett ' s success in the future . Brother Rev . J . M . Guilding , Vicar of Sfc . Lawrence , in a forcible speech , made an appeal on bohalf of tho Masonic Charities , and Brother J . Early Danks P . M . responded . A Board of Installed Masters was opened in full form , Bro . Cumberland acting as

Chaplain . The W . M . elect having been admitted and installed in the chair of K . S ., was saluted and greeted , and the Board was closed , the working tools in each degree being presented by Bro . Cumberland , who also gave the individual addresses to tho Officers on their respective investments . The three final charges having been delivered by the Installing Master , the ceremony was completed . The

Chaplain West Yorkshire gave the t prist of The Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Lodgo , and , after Hatton ' s sloe , " The Hemlock Tree , " by tho Lodge Quartette , Brother J . g . Cumberland P . M . Past Provincial Grand Warden responded . Bro .

T . B . Whytehead gave The health of the Worshipful Master , and said there was every reason to look forward to a happy und prosperous year under his rule ; and , after the performance of "Life ' s a Bnmpor , " by tho Lodge Gleo Party , the W . The Lodgo Quartette sang " Of a' the Airts , " and responses were given to the toast by Bros . Fendelow P . P . G . W . of Stafford .

C ) , attached to the 5 th Dragoon Guards Regiment , now stationed in York . Brother Todd P . M . 236 P . P . G . Eegistrar proposed The Masonio Charities , " and congratulated the Eboraonm Lodge on the work it had done as a young Lodge for the three great Charities of

tho Order . Maofarren's song , " My own my guiding star , " here followed , and Bros . W . Child and J . S . Cumberland Provincial Charity Steward responded , entering at some length into several matters affecting the interests of the Province in the matter of the elections to the Benevolent Institution and Schools . Brother T . B . Whytehead gave the Memory of Our Honoured Dead iu a few appropriate words ,

and the toasfc was drunk standing and in silence , the quartette singing the chant , " May we all meet together in the Grand Lodge above , " silent honours following . Bro . Turner gave the Ladies , iu a speech that excited much merriment . Tho quar . tette gave Hatton ' s glee— "Beware "—and Brother Dyson res . pondecl . Brother Wilkinson gave , by special request , " She

wore a wreath of roses , " and Brother Humphries proposed " Our Abseut Friends , " alluding to the scattered members of the Lodge in New York , Dakotah , South Africa , South Australia , and Egypt . Then came the glee , " Hail , smiling morn , " followed by the health of the Host—Brother H . Churchill , and the Tyler's toast , the evening being mosfc appropriately wound up by Bros . J . S . Cumberland giving

in his telling manner , " A lift on the way , " and the glee party completed their excellent performances with "As the moments roll . " A more successful gathering has never taken place under the banner of this Lodge , and both members and visitors expressed themselves greatly pleased both with the ceremonies and festivities .
