the Brethren , presented Bro . J . Cole P . M . Treas . with a full set of Masonic clothing in honour of his elevation to the position of G . D . D . C . in the Province of Devon . Bro . Cole made suitable acknowledgment .

Fraternal greetings were conveyed to the members by Bro . F . Stringer , of Hova Ecclesia Lodge , No . 1466 , at tho desire of the Grand Oi * icut Lodge , of Hamburg , and Lodge Amelia , of Weimar , Saxony , this being the first Lodge visited by him since his return from abroad .

The installation of Bro . W . R . W . Foot S . W . as W . M . of the Lodge was ably performed by Bro . J . Drennan P . M . D . C . P . P . G . Std . B ., who had acted in a liko capacity for thirteen consecutive years . After the ceremony the Brethren adjourned to the Royal Seven Stars Hotel , where they were joined by several other members .

MARMION LODGE , No . 1060 . ON Wednesday , 9 th inst ., at the Town Hall , Tamworth , Bro . E . Coleman was installed W . M . There was a largo attendnnee of members and Visiting Brethren . The annual banquet was subsequently partaken of at the Castle Hotel .

HUYSHE LODGE , No . 1099 . ON Thursday , 10 th inst ., Bro . G . F . Miller S . W . was elected W . M ., * Bro . S . S . Pan tor P . M . P . P . G . Puns . Treasurer ; and Bro . Jas . Rashbrook Tyler for the ensuing year .

FRIENDSHIP AND UNITY LODGE , No . 1271 . THE annual festival was held in the Town Hall , Bradford-on-Avon , on the 7 th . Bro . C . N . P . Phipps D . P . G . M . Wiltshire installed Bro . R . G . W . Chaloaer S . W . P . P . S . G . W . Dorset as Worshipful Master . A number of visiting Brethren from various Lodges in -Wiltshire and Somerset were present . Dinner was afterwards provided .

BALA LODGE , No . 1369 . ON Friday , 11 th inst ., the installation of Bro . Ben . E . Chadwick J . W . as W . M . took place at Bala , Bro . Herbert R . Heap W . M . P . G . Std . being the Installing Master . A banquet was afterwards hold at the Plas Coch Hotel , when the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 . IF it is possible to connect such prosaic things as somi-Provincial assemblies with festivals and Olympiads , this condition was nearly realised at the last meeting of this Lodge , held at the Masonic Hall , Chorlton-cum-Hardy , on Friday , the 4 th inst ., and the various Officers may be congratulated upon the amount of success attained .

It has often fallen within our province to note the proceedings of similar gatherings , and when we say that this meeting passed off with an equal amount of eclat , nothing more need be said upon this head . The numerical strength of the Lodge was increased by one , in the person of Bro . Thomas William Notton , late of tbe Duke of Edinburgh Lodge , No . 1182 , who was successfully balloted for as a joining member .

The usual festive board followed , a succession of songs , & c , contributed by various Brethren , tending to furnish a very happy evening ' s enjoyment . Among those present we noted Bros . Alfred Pickford W . M ., W . D . Fryer P . M .

CURWEN LODGE , No . 1400 . THE annual meeting was held at the Masonic Rooms , South Watt Stroet , Workington , on the 9 th , when the principal business was to instal Bro ! James Meneely as Worshipful Master for the year , and he was accordingly instolled by Bro . John Barr P . M . P . P . S . G . W . assisted by Bro . C Gowan P . M . P . P . G . S . B . The newly installed Master having been saluted and proclaimed in the three degrees , appointed his Officers for the year .

WEST LANCASHIRE LODGE , No . 1403 . THE annual installation meeting took place on Wednesday , 9 th inst ., in the Lodge Room , at the Commercial Hotel , Ormskirk . There was a large attendance . At the opening of the Lodge , Bro . Thomas Wilde Rice P . S . G . W . the retiring W . M . presided , being supported by several visitors .

Bro . George Lea , Ormskirk ( who had filled the office of Senior Warden during the past twelve months ) had been elected Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the ensuing year , and was now presented for installation by Bro R . Turner P . M .

The installation ceremony was performed by Bro . Rico and this was the first time he had fulfilled the duty of Installing Master since his promotion to Provincial honours . The beautiful ritual of the Order was gone through by him with efficiency and impressiveness .

Bro . Rice was presented with an elaborate jewel by the new W . M ., on behalf of the Lodge , which he acknowledged in suitable terms . The Officers were subsequently invested . At the close of the business proceedings the Brethren dined together under the presidency of Bro . Lea , an excellent menu being served by Mrs ' Blundell of the Commercial Hotel . The various Loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to .

EMULATION LODGE , No . 1505 . THE installation of Bro . John E . Williams took place on the 14 th , at the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool , the ceremony being efficiently performed by Brothers Edwin Eastwood I . P . M . and Simpson P . M . The attendance included nearly 100 members and visitors . At the banquet , which was provided by Bro . Casey , a handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Eastwood .

S ., the installation ceremony being performed by Brothor J . Burn P . M . P . P . G . S . of W . Thereafter the Worshipful Master appointed the Officers for the ensuing year . Subsequently tho Brethren dined in the banqueting hall .

DUKE OF YORK LODGE , No . 2449 . THE regular meeting of this increasingly popular Lodge was held at the Palatine Hotel , Manchester , on Thursday , the 10 th inst . The business announced on the summons was an Initiation , a Passing , and three Raisings , out of which quintette of ceremonies three were taken . The first , that of initiating Mr . James Park , Grocer ' s Manager , Bolton , was undertaken by Bro . Schofield P . M ., and that of passing Bro . John Henry Crowther by Bro . Warburton W . M ., the Working Tools being explained to the two candidates by Bro . Hardicker S . W . The duty of raising Bro . Brooks fell to Bro . Boden P . M ., who performed tho ceremony throughout .

At the festive board , various Loyal and Masonic toasts were given as follows : that of the Initiate by Brother Taylor , that of the newly-passed Brother by Bro . Boden P . M ., and that of the newly-raised Brother by Brother Meggitt , the respective candidates responding . Bro . Kew raised his pleasing voice on behalf of " Sweet Marie " which was supplemented by another from Bro . Scarlett , Bro . Dottie completing the trio ot entertainers by a recital of the woes of some homely Lancashire folk while sailing to the " Tripedal Isle . "

LONGSIGHT LODGE , No . 2464 . THE annual meeting was held at the Club Rooms , Longsight , on Wednesday , the 2 nd inst ., the following , among others , being present : —Bros . Henry Grimshaw W . M ., W . Gadd S . W ., Alfred Lloyd Higginbottom J . W ., Henry Sheard S . D ., W . H . Wilson J . D ., C . S . Cotton I . G ., E . H . Ritson Asst . Sec , Councl . Thomas Uttley P . M . P . P . G . Tho Festival of St . John was held at the rooms of the I . P . M . in Stockport Road , an excellent banquet , under the personal direction of Mrs . Grimshaw , being provided . A long programme of music had been furnished , and was carried out with success . We must not omit to mention that two of the items were original compositions by Bro . Gadd W . M ., the first being " A Festival Glee , " and the other a song entitled " So mote it be , " both of which deserve to become popular in the Craft .

The toasts were of the usual Masonic character , and though one or two of the minor ones might havo been placed in more capable hands , yet the principal speeches were well worth listening to . In proposing the health of tho W . M ., Bro . Grimshaw said that he had already introduced several toasts , the importance of which could not be

denied , but the one he had then the honour of proposing ranked greater than them all . He felt somewhat awkward in his position as I . P . M ., the transition from that of W . M . suggesting that he might be proposing his own health . He spoke of his connection with Bro . Gadd , whom he had known even before his connection with Freemasonry . The W . M . was associated in a popular sense with many institutions , where he had become deservedly

At the festive board , various Loyal and Masonic toasts were given as follows : that of the Initiate by Brother Taylor , that of the newly-passed Brother by Bro . Boden P . M ., and that of the newly-raised Brother by Brother Meggitt , the respective candidates responding . Bro . Kew raised his pleasing voice on behalf of " Sweet Marie " which was supplemented by another from Bro . Scarlett , Bro . Dottie completing the trio ot entertainers by a recital of the woes of some homely Lancashire folk while sailing to the " Tripedal Isle . "

Bro . Gadd S . W ., having signified his adherence to the Antient Constitutional questions , was presented and installed into tho chair of K . S ., the ceremony being performed by Bros . Grimshaw and Uttley , with the assistance of Bro . Lean .

Tho Festival of St . John was held at the rooms of the I . P . M . in Stockport Road , an excellent banquet , under the personal direction of Mrs . Grimshaw , being provided . A long programme of music had been furnished , and was carried out with success . We must not omit to mention that two of the items were original compositions by Bro . Gadd W . M ., the first being " A Festival Glee , " and the other a song entitled " So mote it be , " both of which deserve to become popular in the Craft .

The toasts were of the usual Masonic character , and though one or two of the minor ones might havo been placed in more capable hands , yet the principal speeches were well worth listening to . In proposing the health of tho W . M ., Bro . Grimshaw said that he had already introduced several toasts , the importance of which could not be

denied , but the one he had then the honour of proposing ranked greater than them all . He felt somewhat awkward in his position as I . P . M ., the transition from that of W . M . suggesting that he might be proposing his own health . He spoke of his connection with Bro . Gadd , whom he had known even before his connection with Freemasonry . The W . M . was associated in a popular sense with many institutions , where he had become deservedly
