Reports Of Meetings.

The W . M ., in presenting the Past Master's jewel to Bro . G . W . Barter , paid a tribute of praise and gratitude for the manner in which he had been installed , and remarked that it was very seldom the fortune of a Lodge to possess a Masonic Cicaro such as the Installing Master had proved himself .

The usual toasts were proposed and acknowledged . Bro . Past Master Cubitt , in replying for the Visitors , said that the I . P . M . had evidently missed his professional vocation , as his eloquence would have proved of the utmost service to the Church , or to any organisation whose object was to call the wandering to the fold .

During the evening a musical programme was contributed to by Bro John Josey , Bro . H . Taylor , Miss Grace Beale , A . T . C . L ., and Mr . W . E . S Callender . r \ r \ n

PLAYGOERS LODGE , No . 2705 . THE installation meeting of this Lodge , the formation of which was an outcome of the Playgoers Club—a militant association the reverse of hostile to the best interests of the drama , says the " Stage "—took place on Tuesday , 2 nd inst ., at the Hotel Cecil . Few class Lodges—for the members are drawn entirely from the well

known Club—can boast such success in a short period . The Lodge has been in existence less than two years , but the roll already totals nearly ninety earnest Craftsmen , and there are several candidates for initiation . It spoke well for the Masonic spirit animating the members that there were comparativelv few absentees from the ceremony of installation of Bro . Wm . R . Bennett P . M .

Bro . G . J . Farrington , the retiring W . M ., received valuable assistance in the task of installing his successor from Bro . R . Clay Sudlow P . G . Std . Br ., who delivered the final charges with fine elocutionary effect . A departure from the ordinary course was caused by Bro . Edward Terry

rising to direct attention to the circular just issued by the Grand Secretary , and which had not been received by the Lodge , respecting " The Hiram Lodge of London , under the Grand Orient of France . " Asa Grand Officer Bro . Terry warned the Playgoers of the pains and penalties that would attach to a visit to the " Hiram " or to any recognition thereof .

After the Lodge had been closed in due form there was an adjournment to the Victoria Hall , beneath the same roof , where the customary banquet was successfully held . The Worshipful Master , who is evidently popular with the Playgoers , discharged his duty in an admirable manner .

The reply to the toast of the Pro Grand Master , the Deputy Grand Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers , fell to Bro . Edward Terry , who in eloquent terms referred to the late j _ iord Lathom , to Earl Amherst , to the Earl of Warwick , and to the abiding interest of Grand Officers generally in the welfare of the Craft .

Altogether the Playgoers Lodge has entered upon its third year under highly promising circumstances . The busy and progressive Playgoers Club has reason to be proud of its offspring .
