O . Carruthers S . D ., G . Ogden J . D ., T . G . Swarbrick I . G ., Toyne , Wilkinson , Bailey , and Lawton Stewards . The festival of St . John , to which over fifty members and visitors sat down , was a very excellent function , and reflected great credit upon the host ( Bro . Ernest Whittaker ) and his staff of assistants . Loyal and Masonic toasts were pleasantly varied by the offorfcs of a Glee Party .

Bro . 0 . D . Cheetham . P . M . 993 P . P . G . W ., in responding on behalf of the Provincial Officers , apologised for the absence from the meeting of the Provincial Grand Master Lord Stanley , the Deputy Prov . Grand Master Bio . Captain Beswioke-Royds , and the Provincial Grand Secretary Bro . James Newton . After giving some interesting details of the forthcoming East Lancashire Festival , he paid a high tribute to the very excellent manner in which Bro . Griffiths had performed the installation ceremony , adding that during the whole of his somewhai lengthy Masonic career he had never seen the work done better than it had been that day .

The toast of the Installing Master was in the capable hands of Bro . Dr . Jones Worshipful Master , who after an interesting review of the year's proceedings in Lodge , under the Mastership of Bro . Griffiths , complimented the latter upon the excellent manner the work had been done ; the prominent share he had taken in the same ; and the strong position of the Lodge he had worked so arduously for . Bro . Jones also took the opportunity of presenting to him , on behalf of the members , a very handsome jewel , which bore the following inscription : —

Presented to BBO . C . H . GRIFFITHS P . M . by members of the Faith Lodge , 581 . 1899 . Bro . Griffiths made a characteristic reply , and took the opportunity of

" pressing home ' to the members of the Lodge that dear old maxim " whatever work ye find for your hands to do , do it with all your might , " assuring them that if they would keep this well to the front their manner of progression through the Lodge would be an easy one . He referred at length to the very pleasant year he had passed whilst W . M ., and mentioned that the year 1899 wouid be to him , as long as life lasted , the red-letter year of his

career . The toast of the Worshipful Master Bro . Jones was now proposed by the I . P . M . Bro . Griffiths , in a most cheerful speech , the same being awarded musical honours . This in turn elicited a response from Bro . Dr . Jones . During the evening the " Absent Minded-Beggar " was sung by Bro . Griffiths , and also recited by Bro . J . Adie . The hat was passed in response , and the sum of fifty shillings was found therein . This was duly forwarded to the Lord Mayor's War Fund .

Among those present , and not previously mentioned , were Past Masters Thomas Tyers P . P . G . S . B ., J . Greenup , J . M . Frost , J . H . Smith , G . H . Barnes . Visitors ' : —Bros . J . CLEVELAND BALL AND ROLLER BEARINGS Are a combination of balls and rollers so constructed to answer both purposes of ball retainer and separator . Its greatest advantage is less friction , and will run 10 per cent , easier than the ordinary ball bearing . The rollers permit of balls rolling in same direction , whereas in regular bearing the balls roll towards each other , and cause extra friction . By actual coasting test , also running it at high rate of speed in factory , it has been found superior in every way to the ordinary bearings . It is noiseless and does away with dropping of balls .
