R . M . I . BOYS .

SINCE publishing the details we were able to give last week as to the result of the Local examination of the Cambridge University so far as the Eoyal Masonic Institution for Boys was concerned , the Secretary of the Institution informs us that he has bad the opportunity of going through the lists , aud finds that the Masonic comes out at the head of all Schools which sent in

candidates for this preliminary examination , both as regards number of passes and honours and distinctions gained—even taking into account the fact that many other Schools sent in boys over the age of 14 , which was not done in the case of the

Masonic Institution , the officials of which reserve the older boys for the " Junior " and " Senior " Examinations . Such results as are here recorded must be particularly gi-atifying to those who appreciate the well-known Masonic maxim to strive after quality rather than quantity .

Further successful results are now announced , this time in connection with the Matriculation examination of the London University , held last month , when the two lads entered from the Institution passed in the first division . As only twelve boys out of 1 , 250 passes gained a higher position , the result , so far as the Masonic Boys School is concerned , must be regarded as most satisfactory—and as giving further proof of the care with which the educational work is being carried on .

The centenary of the Eoyal York Lodge , No . 315 , Bri ghton , is to be celebrated iu September next , when suitable rejoicings may be looked forward to .
