REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CEAET : METROPOLITAN ,

ENOCH LODGE , No . 11 . THE reguiar meeting was held on Wednesday , 10 th inst ., at Freemasons ' Hall , Grea ' i Queen Street , under the presidency of Bro . C . Harrison W . M ., with C . Chabot S . W ., F . C . McQueen P . M . acting J . W ., W . F . B . McQueen P . M . Sec , W . J . McQueen S . D ., A . T . W . Peart J . D ., G . H . Elphick I . G ., E . Mallett P . M . Tyler , Joseph Lena , Hugo Moser , Arthur Embleton , W . Gibbs . Visitors : Bros . Christian V . S . Hansen , A . H . Cove ( Hiram Lodge , U . S . A . ) , J . Wynman , and others .

The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and Bro . Joseph Lena and Bro . Hugo Moser answered the questions and proved themselves proficient as Craftsmen . The Lodge was advanced to the third degree and those two Brethren were raised as Master Masons , taking their p lace amongst the Brethren as such . The W . M . gave the history of the degree .

The W . M . kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . F . C . McQueen Secretary , who resumed the Lodge in the first degree and the ballot was taken for Mr . Arthur Embleton , an old personal friend of the Secretary . The ballot proved unanimous in favour of the candidate , and he was afterwards initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry . Both ceremonies were worked in a most perfect and impressive manner .

Several communications were read from Brethren who were unable to attend , and a Brother was temporarily relieved out of his difficulties . After a few more transactions , and hearty good wishes of members and visitors alike , the Lodge was closed and the Brethren adjourned to the Holborn Restaurant to supper , after which toasts were pledged and the proceedings terminated . ¦

KENT LODGE , No . 15 . THE installation meeting of this ancient Lodge , which celebrated its centenary in 1858 , was held at the Freemasons' Tavern , on Wednesday , 10 th inst . The Lodge was duly opened by Bro . J . G . Carpenter P . M ., who after the usual routine business proceeded to pass Bro . Bennett . Bro . Carpenter then iollowed with the installation of his successor , Bro . R . W . Bowers . The whole of the ceremony was performed in a most impressive manner , the delivery of the charges being followed very closely by the large Lodge present . The new Blaster at once invested his Officers .

At the conclusion of the investiture Bro . Bowers initiated Mr . Thomas Edward Williams and Mr . Herbert Sinclair Southey King . Naturally the effort was critically watched by the many Past Masters present , but the method of its performance satisfied everyone that the new Master was quite equal to his work . Before the Lodge closed , the I . P . M . and Installing Master was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel , in recognition of the sincere appreciation of the Brethren of his services during the past year .

The installation banquet was held in the Venetian Chamber of the Holborn Restaurant , when 150 Brethren sat down and discussed a very elaborate menu . Of this number 102 were visitors . Bro . J . G . Carpenter I . P . M . proposed the Worshipful Master Bro . R . W . Bowers . If he were to extol all the good qualities of the new Master , he said , by far too large a portion of their time would be taken up that evening . All the Brethren of the Kent Lodge , however , knew Bro . Bowers ' s sterling

qualities , whilst they had already had an opportunity of seeing his working . Immediately after his own installation he proceeded to initiate two gentlemen in a way which showed , in the homely phraseology of " Bill Adams , " that he was the very man for the job . The new Master had the good wishes of every member of the Kent Lodge , and they were all perfectly assured that , under his guidance , the Lodge would prosper in the forthcoming year as it had done in the past .

Bro . Bowers , in reply , said he could not find words in which to adequately express his gratitude for all the cordiality and kindness he had received . He felt proud and honoured at the trust which had been committed to his care . He would do his very utmost to carry out the best traditions of the Kent Lodge , and to promote harmony within it . The Brethren had not lightly cast upon him the cares of office , and he hoped to conduct the affairs of the Lodge with credit to himself and with satisfaction to the Brethren .

The Worshipful Master , in a very graceful speech proposed the Initiates , to which Bro . T . E , Williams and H . S . King briefly responded . The toast of the Visitors was responded to by Bro . the Rev . F . G . Fuller , an American Mason , and Bro . J . H . Price Past Grand Treasurer of Surrey . The W . M ., in proposing the Past Masters , especially referred to the

great work Bro . E . Stimson always did to promote the welfare and comfort of the Brethren and visitors . Bro . Stimson was one to whom they were all indebted . He laboured indefatigably to promote the interests of Masonry and the Kent Lodge , and the speaker was fortunate in having him amongst his Officers .

Bro . J . G . Carpenter I . P . M . responded , and Bro . E . Stimson and Buckeridge replied for the Officers , the former stating that all ho had ever been able to do for the Kent Lodge was a labour of love , and one he should be pleased to continue . During the evening a capital musical programme was sustained by Bros . Wood , H . Emlyn , W . Edwards , A . and H . Gee , Madame Florence Winn and Miss Ethel Winn .

During the evening a photograph of the company was taken by Messrs Fradelle and Young , of Regent Street .

MORNINGTON LODGE , No . 1672 . A MEETING was held at the Holborn Viaduct Hotel , on Thursday , 4 th inst ., when the Worshipful Blaster Bro . Henry Theobald passed Bro . J . Walter Wyles to the second degree . Masonic business being ended , the Brethren adjourned to the banqueting room , where , later on , the usual toasts were given and responded to .

BLOOMSBURY RIFLES LODGE , No . 2362 . A MEETING was held on the 10 th inst ., at tho headquarters of the Corps , Chonies Street . Present : Bros . T . W . Bfogford W . M ., J . L . Miller S . W ., G . W . Barter J . W ., G . D . Mogford I . P . M ., H . Sillis P . M ., G . Grimes P . M ., Dr . H . R . Blyers Treas ., J . Jackson Crow Sec , U . Gilbert S . D ., G . E . Chandler J . D ., A . Blarshall D . C , A . Groome I . G ., G . Stevenson Std ., S . Ingram Tyler , C . E . Cowton Organist , W . S . Hall , C . W . Steel , J . S . Wilson , J . W . Harris , R . Lawrie , H . Fowler , J . Greenfield , E . Milner , W . J . Lewis , H . J . Peck , H . Cowtan , H . Gray .

Visitors : C . T . Browne W . M . 733 , R . T . Grimwood 2427 , H . Dehane P . M . 1543 P . P . G . S . D . Essex , T . Donkin 1670 , C . H . Denny W . M . 1671 , R . J . Rogers P . M . 733 . The Lodge was opened and the minutes of the previous meeting confirmed . The Lodge was opened in the second and third degrees , and

resumed as required . The following were raised to the third degree : Bros . Greenfield , Lewis and Milner . Bro . Peck was passed to the second . After a notice of motion by Bro . Capt . Scott had been dealt with , hearty good wishes were accorded , and the Lodge closed . After the banquet in the mess room , the W . M . proposed the usual Royal and Grand Officers' toasts .

Bro . G . Mogford I . P . M ., in proposing the toast of the W . M ., said that he once more had the pleasure of hearing him do his work in the manner that the Lodge expected ; he was a Brother who was equal to any duty that "he might be called , upon to perform , and where credit was due , let it be given . Bro . T . W . Mogford W . M , who was received with considerable applause , in thanking the Brethren for the cordial manner they had received the

toast , told them that when he filled the offices leading to the chair he did his best , and now that he was there he felt that by their reception he was meeting with approbation , which was most gratifying to him . He was personally heart and soul with their Treasurer Bro . Dr . Myers that a sum of sixty guineas should be subscribed in commemoration of the Queen ' s 60 th

year on the throne , and pointed out and impressed upon all present that without the practice of charity it was no good being a Blason . He doubted not that the' sum mentioned would be raised for the R . M . B . Institution , to go on Bro . Myers ' s list . He further hoped they would also have a Steward for the Boys Centenary Festival , and offered to go up himself , more especially as it would be the centenary of their own regiment ..

The toast of the Past Masters followed , the W . M . remarking their work was so well know it needed no words to enhance the toast . He would couple with it the I . P . M . and Bro . Grimes . The I . P . M . said the Past Masters were all willing to assist , and if the Brethren had not the utmost confidence in them he scarcely thought that they would have had the opportunity of being Past Masters . He also said he would , in conjunction with the W . M ., go up as Steward for the Boys .

Bro . Grimes also returned thanks , and in doing so said he was the first Steward who had represented the Lodge . He hoped P . M . Myers's list for the Old People would do credit to their Lodge . The Secretary , on the conclusion of Bro . Grimes's remarks , stated that the Brethren had made up the list to 100 guineas—an announcement that evoked considerable applause .

The W . M ., in proposing the Visitors , mentioned that among them were two who at one time belonged to the Bloomsbury Rifles . He coupled the names of Bros . Brown , Dehane , Rogers , and Grimwood with the toast . Bro . Brown expressed thanks for the hearty reception given to the visitors , and alluded to the Westbourne Lodge of Instruction supper on the 23 rd inst . ; most of the Brethren attended the weekly meetings , where they knew Past Master Dehane was Preceptor . The Blasonic Charities was a branch of Freemasonry in which he took a great interest , and he would no doubt have the pleasure of meeting their W . M . and I . P . M . at the Boys Festival .

Bro . Dehane expressed the pleasure with which he had listened to the working of the ceremonies , no light task that evening ; three raisings and one passing , besides the other routine of the Lodge , and then to preside so ably as the W . B 1 . had done . Bro . Rogers also responded , and had great pleasure to add his name in support of the Treasurer's list for the Old People . Bro . Donkin also responded .

The Treasurer and Secretary , the W . M . said , were most able men and Brethren . Bro . Myers would never allow the Lodge to be any way in debt , and always had a balance on the right side of their ledger . Bro . Crow the Brethren appreciated highly . Bro . Myers thanked the Brethren for the handsome list they had made him—a hundred guineas was a matter the Lodge might be proud of to send at the hands of their representative to the Old People . Bro . Crow also responded ,

The Officers was acknowledged by Bro . Bliller S . W ., and the Tyler's toast concluded the evening . The musical arrangements were presided over by the Organist Bro . C . E . Cowtan , who was assisted by Bros . Rogers , H . Cowtan , G . Blogford , Donkin , and Gray .

ECCENTRIC LODGE , No . 2488 . "lyrOTWITHSTANDING the contention of the members of this Lodge that _ LN there is nothing eccentric about them with the exception of their name , they have certainly hit upon a novelty in Freemasonry that distinctl y deviates from the usual line of the Blasonic circle . At the last meeting , which was held at the Criterion , Piccadilly Circus , W ., on Friday , 5 th inst .,

the Lodge was opened as usual by the W . M . Bro . J . Harrison , assisted by his Officers and a large number of Brethren , including the following : —W . Blason Stilos P . G . T ., Sydney B . Brough W . M . of the Drury Lane Lodge , No . 2127 , H . T . Brickwell 2455 , J . D . Butler 34 , H . Peck 1287 , R . G . Hall P . G . S . 4 , A . Strugnell 22 G 4 , C . H . Giesler 810 , W . 3 . Holloway 1319 , E . J . Reid 1965 , Frank Wheeler 1319 , & c , & c

Tho first business was the raising of Bro . G . S . Asher , which ceremony was finely rendered by Bro . Harrison and his Officers . This was followed b y the initiation of Blessrs Alfred Ellis , W . Clarke and S . Hepworth Dixon , who were received as Brethren and Fellows . Bro . Harrison then vacated the chair in favour of the following Officers from the Strand Lodge , No . 1987 : W . S . Hooper W . BL , W . Herbert S . W ., W . Rapley J . W ., G . P . Channing S . D ., J . E . Thomas J . D ., J . R . W . Soper I . G ., and E . Lane Campbell D . C , who performed the ceremony of passing .

Bros . Ben Nathan and Richard Green , candidates for the second degree , answered the usual questions , were entrusted and retired . The Fellow Craft Lodge was then o |) ened , when Bros . Nathan and Green were passed to that degree , the ceremony being worked in a most perfect manner . The Lodge was then closed , and the Brethren adjourned to dinner . The utmost good fellowship distinguished the post prandial proceedings .
