QUARTERLY COURT OF THE GIRLS'SCHOOL .

In is Court Avas hold last Saturday , in the largo Hall of Ireelnasons' Tavern , under the chairmanship of Colonel Creaton . Tho attendance of tho brethren was very largo . At tho commencement of tho business Colonel Creaton announced tho death of Bro . 11 . Wentworth Little , tho Secretary , which occurred the previous evening . On tho motion of Bro . John Boyd , Colonel Creaton Avas

authorised to sign cheques , and a letter of condolence Avith tho widow of Bro . Little was ordered to bo Avritton and sent to her . Tho chairman then informed the brethren , that although tho visit of tho Princo and Princess of Wales to tho Institution had fallen through for tho present , ho believed it would take place in tho ensuing Juno or July . On tho motion of Bro . Joseph Smith , seconded by Bro .

Sabino , Colonel Creaton Avas elected Treasurer of tho Institution . Tho General Committee of last year Avas re-elected , and resolutions Avere come to to elect nineteen girls ; to transfer tho funded property oi tho Institution into tho names of tho present trustees ; and to authorise the Building Committee to incur an expense of £ 900 in laying out tho grounds of the Institution . Colonel Creaton said that the

Institution had bought a new pieco of ground , Avhich required to bo laid out ; and tho old ground had been so much cut up Avith tho works iu connection with tho BOW buildings , that it also required entire relaying out . Ho then suggested that as tho Avorks would not bo complete by tho time the new House Committee Avas elected , that tho present House Committee , Avho had been appointed tho Building Committee , should remain the Building Committee till thoAvorks Avere

( unshed , as he thought it Avonld bo unfair that the existing Building Committee , Avho had had all tho trouble , should havo the completion of tho work executed nnder tho supervision of any new body . The meeting concurred in tho chairman ' s view , and unanimously decided to let the present Building Committee continue to discharge their function still tho works were finished . Bro . Thomas W . White ' s

motion" That John Bond Cabbell , Esq ., the Devisee of Trust Estates nnder tho will of the late Bro . Benjamin Bond Cabbell , the survivor of the Trustees in Avhotn the property of the Institution is vested , be requested and authorised to execute tho necessary documents to vest the said property iu tho present trustees , " viz .: — The Right Hon . the Lord Leigh , Lieut .-Col . J . Creaton , tho Right

Hon . the Earl of Carnarvon , and the Right Hon . the Lord Skelmersdale , was then brought on and carried , and after the chairman had stated that the condition of tho grave of Miss Crooke , for thirty-four years matron to the School , should be attended to ( the matter had been drawn to his notice by Bro . Sabine ) , the election of the nineteen girls was taken .

THE Quarterly Conrt of Subscribers to the Masonic Boys' School Avas held on Monday , in the large hall of Freemasons' Tavern , nnder tho presidency of Col . Creaton . On tho motion of Bro . Raynham Stewart , seconded by Bro . II . A . Dubois , Lord Leigh , Avho had expressed his willingness to act as trustee in the room of the late Bro .

Bcntley Shaw , was elected as a trustee of tho Institution . A letter of condolence Avas directed to bo written and sent to the widow and family of Bro . Bentley Shaw , ancl Bro . George Plucknett was after-Avards re-elected Treasurer of the School . The General Committee Avas re-elected , and after scrutineers of votes had been appointed , the election of thirty-ono boys to the School took place .

Polish National Lodge , JNO . 534 . —The annual meeting , for Installation of Worshipful Master and appointment of Officers took place on Thursday evening , the 11 th April , at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen-street , W . C . The W . M . Bro . J . H . Gumming presided , supported by his Officers , and there were present the following Past Masters : Bros . John Boyd , W . Paas , Scnlczewsky , Nowakowsky ,

Jacomo jSTiedzielski , Avho had for proposer and seconder Bros . Dr . Jagielski and J . W . Ebner ; the result was unanimous in that gentleman ' s favour . Bro . P . M . Moore , at tho request of Bro . Gumming , now assumed the collar of W . M .,

ancl the Avorthy Secretary , Bro . Paas , presented Bro . Ebner for the benefit of installation . Bro . Mooro then proceeded Avith the ceremony , Avhich he completed in au eminently satisfactory manner , at tho same time AVO must not forget to mention ho had had no intimation previously that his services for this important duty would he iu request . On the re-admission of those Avho havo to content themselves Avith wearing the rosettes , the W . M . Avas saluted

and ho appointed his Officers : — Bros . Aspinall S . W ., Taylor J . W ., J . Boyd P . M . Treasurer , W . Paas P . M . Secretary , Dr . Jagielski S . I ) ., Dr . Corrie Jackson J . D ., Lancaster I . G ., Smith D . C , Bucket Tyler . Bro . Moore then delivered the addresses and resumed his seat , after receiving the thanks of tho brethren for tho way he htid conducted the installation . Tho now Master then proceeded Avith the ceremony of initiation in favour of his friend , Mr , Niedzielski ,

and evidenced that his attendance at the meetings for instruction which are periodically held by tho members of this Lodge , had borne good fruit . Tho ceremony was faultlessly and impressively performed . After tho report of the audit committee had been presented , aud routine business transacted , tho Lodgo was closed . A capital banquet was then served in tho Crown Room , and tho viands

wero ably discussed . Bro . Ebner presided , and intimated , on rising to propose the several toasts , that as there wero present several talented brethren , who Avere competent and Avilling to entertain tho jrnests , he wonld not occupy much time iu introducing the toasts . Tho health of Her Majesty ancl that of tho M . W . tho Grand Master wero each offered , and fully honoured , tho musical party effectively

singing the National Anthem and " God Bless the Princo of Wales . Tho toast of His Royal Highness the Grand Master was followed by a selection on tho violin , by Bro . Niedzielski , Avho was accompanied on tho pianoforte by Bro . Giusoppo Romano . Tho performance was admirable , and Avell deserved tho hearty applause Avith which it was greeted . With the toast of tho Pro Grand Master , tho Deputy Grand

Master , ancl tho rest of tho Grand Officers past ancl present were associated the names of Bros . Captain Wordsworth and John Boyd , and these having acknowledged the compliment paid thorn , Bro . W . W . Morgan gave selections from Knowles ' s William Tell . Bro . J . H . Cummings I . P . M . in brief , but felicitous terms , proposed the health of the W . M ., and Bro . Ebner as briefly and felicitously responded . On proposing tho health of tho initiate , Bro . Niedzielski , the W . M . remarked that

not only was ho a Polo , but likewise an artist of a very high order of merit , as had already been shown by tho performance Avith which he had favoured them . After a song by Bro . Dr . Jagielski , Bro . Niedzielski rose , aud expressed his thauks for tho kind reception they had accorded him . He \ A as much gratified to know that he had been able to add to the pleasure of those present , and he trusted it would not bo tho last occasion on which ho should have it in

his power to contribute his modest quota of entertainment at their festive gatherings . With the toast of the Visitors were associated tho names of Bros . Shervill , Binckes , and Hunt , each of whom replied , and Bro . Binckes in doing so mentioned incidentally that twenty years since he had had the pleasnre of visiting the Polish National Lodge . After a Duett , by Bros . Hubbard and Kift , the toast

of tho P . M . s , —the name of tho I . P . M . Bro . Cammings being connected Avith it . Bro . Cummiugs responded , as also did Bro . Sculczewsky , who said that Bro . Binckes ' s reference to bygone days had brought a flood of recollections before his mind . As he gazed around him , he could not fail to miss many dear friends , who had been with them in the past . Still , it Avas a source of

great gratification to him to see tin present flourishing condition of his Lodge , and ho trusted he might yet live many days to Avatch tho continuance of the Polish National in its career of prosperity . He regretted tho absence of Bro . Rath , and hoped that it Avas not in consequence of illness they had been deprived of tho pleasure of his society that evening . Bro .

Sculczewsky concluded this brief but effective speech by thanking tho brethren present for the kind and cordial manner in Avhich they had received the toast . Of tho other toasts , we need only mention that of tho Charities , to Avhioh Bro . Binckes replied with his accustomed eloquence . A conspicuous feature of tho evening was the shortness of tho speeches

ancl tho unusual strength aud excellence of the musical part of the entertainment . Not only were tho initiate , Brother Niedzielski with his violin , ancl Brother Romano on the pianoforte to tho fore in this portion of the proceedings , but Bros . Kift , Hubbard , Dr . Jagielski , Dr . Corrie Jackson , ancl E . Collins contri . buted among them several songs and glees , a list of which AVO append
