THE RECENT FESTIVAL .

THE result of the 105 th Anniversary Festival of the Eoyal Masonic Institution for Girls , which was held on Wednesday , at Freemasons' Tavern , must be most gratifying to all concerned , inasmuch as Bro . F . R . W . Hedges , the indefatigable Secretary ,

was enabled to announce the splendid total of £ 14 , 011 3 s 6 d as the result of the efforts of nearly 400 Stewards . When we look at the many calls thatour brethren have upon them , it certainly seems to us that this amount is eminently creditable , and

one that would be hard to beat ouside of Freemasonry . Of course we know that this sum has not been obtained without a considerable amount of trouble , and- we heartily congratulate all those who took an active part in raising it .

As we have already stated the sum announced at the Festival was £ 14 , 011 3 s 6 d , and we have little doubt but that this will be greatly added to before the list is finally closed . On looking over the list , which we publish elsewhere , we find that London was represented by 154 Stewards , the others coming from the

Provinces . The London Stewards managed to collect no less a sum than £ 6 , 218 8 s Od , and the Provincials £ 7 , 792 15 s 6 d . The highest amount collected by any London Steward was £ 210 by Bro . S . A . Hardiman , representing Lodge No . 217 , and he is closely pressed by Bro . Col . A . B . Cook , of Lodge No . 259 , who

brought up £ 201 lis Od . No less tnan nine otner London Stewards collected over £ 100 . Of the Provinces West Yorkshire heads the list with the magnificent sum of £ 1 , 425 , while Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire , the Chairman ' s Province , is

responsible for £ 1 , 050 . This latter sum must be most gratifying to the Earl of Euston , who so kindly undertook the duties of Chairma-n on this occasion . As is our custom we give a list of the Provinces , with the number the number of Stewards , and contributed by each : —

Stewards , £ s d West Yorkshire 81 1425 0 0 Norths and Hunts 21 1050 0 0 Kent 9 427 12 0 Berkshire 9 325 11 6 South Wales ( Bast Div . ) 2 315 0 0 Hampshire and I . of Wight 4 294 1 6 West Lancashire 16 264 6 0 Worcestershire 4 245 3 0 Hertfordshire 4 215 5 0 Buckinghamshire 6 206 16 0

ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF THE ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

THE Flight of Ages , that Bro- Frederick Bevan sings about , was never more forcibly demonstrated than at the Hundred and Fifth Anniversary Festival of this excellent Institution , more popularly known among the brethren as the Girls' School , which was held at the

Freemasons' Tavern , Great Queen Street , W . C , on Wednesday evening last . Many of the speakers referred to tho gradual rise and development of the Institntion since its establishment in 1788 , but few of those present could have

comprehended the initial' difficulties surrounding its foundation , nor the strenuous efforts of the noble band of brothers to place it upon a firm footing . But we are all

able to rejoice at its present proud position , and most heartily congratulate Bro . F . B * . W . Hedges upon the success of the Festival , and those brethren whose i exertions contributed so much to the desired result .
