" A SPRIG OF ACACIA . "

HHHE death occurred on Thursday of last week , at his JL residence , Honor Oak , of Bro . E . W . Allen , publisher , of London . The deceased was a Freemason of many years standing , and was much respected by the members of the Phoenix Lodge , of which he was a Past Master . The funeral

took place on the 9 th , at Norwood Cemetery , a choral service being held previously in St . Augustine ' s Church , Honor Oak , at which Bro . Allen was a regular attendant . There were present at the cemetery a number of the old employes of the deceased , together with many Masonic friends .

WITH impressive simplicity the funeral of Bro . the Rev . H . W . Millett took place at Millbrook on Saturday afternoon . As soon as possible after the inquest , which was necessary owing to the suddenness with which our

Reverend Brother died at Paddington Station , the remains , in an oak coffin , reached Millbrook Vicarage . The mournful procession through the village to the Churchyard on Saturday testified in its large and representative character to the sorrow the death of the vicar had evoked . At the head

of the procession were a large number of parishioners , followed by the surpliced choir , under Mr . Northcott , and Masonic Brethren , whilst in the rear followed the Sundayschool teachers and children and other representatives . The first portion of the service was read by Rev . C . F . Mermagen ,

of St . Feock , after which the remains were borne to the grave by Past Masters of Lodge Meridian , of which the deceased was the I . P . " The impressive ceremony

concluded witn the chanting of the Nunc Dimittis . Resting on the coffin were wreaths and crosses from the widow and children , and floral tributes were also sent by the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , "With sincere regret and sympathy "; Lodge Meridian , "With deepest sympathy "; and many others .
