M . 515 , together with all the Oflicers of the Ancient Carthage Lodge , paid a visit to tho newly established Lodgo , II Risorgimento , working under the auspices of tho G . O . of Italy . The W . M . of this Lodge is Bro . the Baron J . Castellnuovo M . D .,
Surgeon to the late King of Italy , and who , on tho previous day , was exalted in the Ancient Carthage Chapter , and the subordinate Officers aro as follow : Bros . Dr . Funaro S . W ., Professor Vais 33 ° J . W ., Professor Ayra Orator , G . Maltesopolo Sec , Pariente Treas ., Attia D . of C , ancl J . Enriquez Almoner . Tho Lodge being opened in due form , the D . G . M . was received under the Arch of Steel , and
with the honours peculiar to Italian Masonry . A most cordial reception was accorded to W . Bro . Broadley and his Officers , and Bro . Broadley returned thanks in appropriate terms . Tho work of tho evening was proceeded with , and two candidates , Messrs . Parienti and Senigallia , satisfactorily initiated according to tho peculiar Ritual practised in Italy . After the ceremony au address
of much real value and research was delivered by tbo Orator , Bro . Professor Ayra , and listened to with deep attention by all present . At 9 30 tho members and visitors , over sixty in number , adjourned to refreshment , and in order entered the beautiful and tastefully decorated banquetting room of tho Lodge , which is held in ono of thoso ancient Moorish palaces which excite tho admiration of all
European visitors . The room and tables wero most elaborately decorated with flowers , national flags , & c . While speaking on this head , it would be difficult to accord too much praiso to tho courteous and hard working Stewards , Bros . Catalanotti , Attia , Sanniuo aud Jedotchi , whose exertions added not a little to the perfect success of tho entertainment , which can only be described as a dinner of the
most elaborate kind . The toasts of the King of Italy and the G . M . of the G . O . ' of Italy having beeu drunk , coupled with that of our own Eoyal M . W . G . M ., the W . M . proposed tho health of the D . G . M . of Malta , in felicitous terms declaring that his visit to Tunis would be considered an epoch in the annals of Italian as well as English Masonry . The D . G . M . returned thanks , and W . Bro . Lenghi
explained his remarks in Italian . The W . M . proceeded to propose tho health of W . Bro . Broadley , whom he characterised as his co-worker in tho Masonic ranks , and to him he attributed the credit of bringing about , by indefatigable exertion , tho great Masonic revival now taking place in Tunis . W . Bro . Broadley returned thanks , declaring that tho evening they had spent was a full recompense for any effort
of his , and expressed a hope thafc harmony , affection and brotherly love would unite and cement tho two sister Lodges of Ancient ; Carthago and Risorgimento , which might be appropriately considered as typify ing the mutual goodwill and regard existing between the two nations to which they belonged . Several other toasts were proposed and drank with great enthusiasm , particularly thafc of
an absent Bro ., J . H . Stevens British Vice-Consul , afc present recovering from severe illness , to which W . Bro . Broadley responded , and appropriately answered by proposing tho health of his able medical adviser , Dr . Funaro , the S . W . of Lodge Risorgimento . The W . M . haviug to leave for Goletta by special train , placed W . Bro . Broadley in charge of the Lodge , and the harmony of the evening
Was continued till a late hour , when a burst of enthusiasm was awakened by the chairman proposing and giving tho parting toast according to our English usage . The brethren separated about midni ght , with but one feeling as to the reception accorded to them by their Italian brethren , viz ., one of complete and universal satisfaction .
After a visit to the ruins of Carthage , and a few hours of needful repose on Friday , the R . W . D . G . M . and his officers proceeded to Goletta , on Saturday the 29 th June , by the 10 a . m . train , accompanied by a largo number of brethren belonging to both the Tunis Lodges . Here tho party was received by the respected agents of the Tunisian Eailway , Messrs . Williamson and Gardiner , and going on board the steam launch belonging to the Company , soon reached
tho steam ship " Lancefield , " on which they embarked . All being prepared for departure , tho last adieus wero exchanged , and the Tunis brethren quitted tho steamer , which soon left them and North Africa behind . Nothing more remains to be said , but that the
E . W . D . G . M . during his visit , by his patience , courtesy and ability , earned the hearty good-will of every Mason in Tunis , English or foreign , and that his sojourn amongst them will ever be pleasantly and gratefully remembered in tho days to come .

M . stated that tho Committee elected afc tho January Communication to revise the By-Laws of D . G . Lodge , were unable to bring up their reports that evening . Sec . brought up tho Report of tho Committee of Orphan Society , with the Balance Sheet for the year ending in January last , which waa read and ordered to be printed and circulated . Bro . tho Secretary's Salary be the same as last year , namely , £ 150 , — carried . The same brother moved thafc tho salary of Tyler be the samo as last year , namely , £ 3 . This was seconded by Bro . Davia P . M . 655 , ancl carried . The D . D . G . M ., in reply to a question from W . Bro . E . O . Smith P . D . D . G . M ., said the D . G . M . was not aware that any distinguishing
badge was worn by members of the Lodge Empress of India . W . Bro . E . 0 . Smith P . D . D . G . M . said the D . G . M . had stated he would only hold office for three years , and was proceeding to com . ment thereon , when Rev . Bro . Beg , D . G . Chaplain , rose to a point of order , and said the remarks of Bro . Smith were out of order as tho question was not before the D . G . Lodge . The D . D . G . M . ruled tha
discussion out of order , the subject was not before the D . G . Lodge that evening , the proper time to discuss the matter would be when it came before them in the now by-laws , he also declined to answer questions of which proper notice had not been given to the District Grand Lodge . From tho balance sheet of D . G . Lodgo , we find thafc the New South Wales Freemasons' Orphan Society has a balance in hand of £ 532 15 s 3 d , besides £ 3 , 437 invested iu shares of the Freemasons ' Hall Co ., and £ 1 , 100 in Government Debentures . Tbo Masonio Benevolent Fund also exhibits a most satisfactory condition , there being , after payment of all charges , a cash balance of £ 101 15 s lid , with £ 300 on deposit , and £ 100 invested iu Government Debentures .
Thus , the two Masonic Charity Funds of New South Wales together possess property representing £ 0 , 033 lis 2 d , a result , we fbef sure , that the brethren of that district mnsb be hi ghly satisfied with , showing as it does that during times of prosperity they are not uumindfal to lay up funds which hereafter may servo to relieve any who from unforeseen circumstances may havo occasion to avail themselves of their benefits .
