He also complimented Brother Binckes on the amazing success which had attended his last Festival . Old Women , ho trnsted that the Institution with which he was con . nected would secure its fair measure of support . THE members of this popular Lodge celebrated their Eighth Installation Meeting on Wednesday . The brethren assembled at the Criterion , Piccadilly , under the Presidency of the W . M . Bro . E . Powell , who was supported by Bros . Tayler S . W ., Johnson J . W ., Isaacs Treasurer , Beckham Secretary , Bottle S . D ., McRay Steward , Egerton Organist . Past Masters Bros . The financial statement ns regards the Benevolent Fund showed there was a balance in favour of the Lodge of upwards of £ 50 . A Board of Installed Masters was opened , and Bro . C . Tayler S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodge , and in due course , in the presence of fifteen W . M . ' s and P . M . ' s , duly installed into the chair by the retiring W . M ., who conducted the ceremony in a most
perfect and impressive manner . Bro . W . Vincent P . M . efficiently acted as M . C . On the re-admission of the brethren , the W . M . was saluted , according to ancient custom . He then , in appropriate terms , appointed and invested his Officers : —Bros . E . Powell I . P . M ., H . J . Johnson S . W ., R . Bottle J . W ., I . Isaacs ( re-elected ) Treas ., A . W . Beckham ( reappointed ) Sec , Coulthard S . D ., Johnston J . D .,
Moorman I . G ., Ray and Watkins M . C . ' s , Egerton Org ., Hooper and Weston W . S . 's , Thomas Reece Jones Tyler . Ballots having been previously taken for the admission of Messrs . T . Salter , J . Pride , and C . J . Forder , and the result being unanimously in favonr of these candidates , they were duly initiated into the Order by the newly installed W . M ., who evidenced his capability for office by
performing the ceremony in a manner that augurs well for his conduct of the Lodge . Bro . W . Vincent proposed that the name of the Lodge shonld be used in connection with the annual ball of the members , and a dispensation be applied for for the brethren to wear Masonic clothing on the occasion . Any surplus that may accrue to be devoted to the Benevolent Fund of the Lodge . This proposition having
been seconded , was carried unanimously . Tho brethren , to the number of 104 , sat down to a sumptuous and rdcherclie banquet provided by Messrs . Spiers and Pond ( Limited ) , and superintended by Bro . Madell . The W . M ., who in the Lodge had performed his dutie 3 admirably , made a very genial president j he proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . Brother E . Powell I . P . M . was
entrusted with the gavel to propose what he described as the toast of the evening , the health of the Worshipfnl Ma ter . Brother C . Tayler , was the first initiate of the Lodge ; be had worked up through every office : he bad attained the proud position he now ocenpied by sheer merit and perseverance , and all felt sure he would do his duty satisfactorily . The W . M ., in reply , thanked
Bro . Powell for the kind manner in which he had spuken of him ; whatever he had done had been a labour of love . On the first night of his initiation he made up his mind to go forward in Freemnsonry , aud when he was raised to the degree of Master Mason he went into office . With pleasure he saw the result . the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , whioh wonld be held in Jnne nnsfc , nnder tho presidency of His Royal Highness the Duke of Albany , ho would serve aa a Steward , and ho thought opportunit y might be taken by the members of tho Lodge to make their mark on the Charity Roll of the Order . Master then proposed tho toast of the I . P . M ., and referred to the excellent manner in which Bro . Powell had carried out each and every of his duties . It might indeed be said he had crowned all by his working of the ceremony of installation . It was gratifying for him ( the W . M . ) to be the medium of presenting Bro . Powell with a testimonial of the respect the Lodge entertained for him , in the shape
of the Past Master a jewel , which he had the pleasure of placing on his breast ; he hoped he might live _ for many years to wear it . Bro . Powell rose with a great amount of diffidence . He hoped ho had given the brethren satisfaction during his year of office . As one of the Founders of the Lodgo , he took a deep interest in its well-doing . With respect to the handsome jewel they had presented him ' with , he regretted he had no son to hand it down to , but he had a
grandson , who doubtless would appreciate the honour conferred upon him . The other toasts given were the Past Masters , the Initiates , the Visitors , the Press , the Treasurer and Secretary , the Officers , & o Some capital responses were elicited . Finally , the Tyler gave the parting toast . To Bros . I . Cantle , Schartau , Davis , Lee , and Moor , man great credit is dne for the musical ability they displayed , while Bro . Vincent P . and Tremere . The W . M . gave the usnal Loyal and Masonic toasts , which were duly honoured by the brethren . The before-named brethren then sang a trio . The W . M . ' s health was proposed in a very neat speech , in which the Immediate Past Master stated that tbe hononr of the Lodge would be upheld in all its integrity by Bro . Edmunds , who had worked hard to fit himself for his position . He
( Brother Thompson ) trnsted that the brethren wonld find him p lenty of work to do . The toast was cordially received by all present . In thanking the brethren , the W . M . stated that he wonld strive to do his best to give satisfaction while he had the honour of being their W . M . ; he trusted his endeavours wonld meet with the approbation of the Past Masters of the Lodgeto whom he would look with
