be spared for many years to wear it 5 he was very proud of the opportnnity of having the honour of presenting the jewel , as both Brother Thompson and himself were initiated together ; had worked together ; and followed eaoh other step by step in the Lodge to the present proud position he then occupied . Master , and thanked the Worshipful Master and brethren for the hearty reception accorded them by the Lodge . Bro . Fenner made a few remarks on the value of Lodges of Instrnotion . Without them , Masons wonld never be able to carry out the duties of Office . He impressed upon all young Masons who aspired to distinction in the Craft to avail themselves of the benefits to be derived

by attending as often as possible . At the same time , he called the attention of the brethren to the fact that an excellent Lodge of Instruction , working nnder the warrant of the New Finsbnry Park Lodge , meets every Tuesday evening , at 8 o ' clock , at the New Hornsey Wood Tavern , Seven Sisters ' -road ( opposite Finsbnry Park ) . The

Officers' toast was proposed , and received due hononr 5 the Tyler ' s toast brought a pleasant evening to a close . Bros . H . Ashton , Colson Phillips , and T . Tremere enlivened the proceedings with some admirable songs and trios , while Bro . Leipold kindly presided at the pianoforte , and gave some brilliant fantasia , with whioh all the brethren were delighted .

THE first regular meeting of this flourishing Lodge since the installation was held on 13 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queenstreet , under the presidency of Bro . A . Stokes W . M ., J . W . Dewsnap S . W ., Smith sen . J . W ., J . W . Brooke P . M . Secretary , T . C Corpe P . M . Treasurer , A . Williams S . D ., Cattermole J . D ., Marcus I . G ., Gent M . C , Trego Organist , & c . Visitors—John Woodman 22 , J . L .

Cnlpen 749 , G . F . Williams 1791 , H . M . Levy P . M . 188 . Lodge was opened , and the minutes of former meeting were read and confirmed . Mr . W . Wright , having been balloted for and accepted , was duly initiated into the Order , the W . M . conducting the ceremony in a very perfect way , each Officer contributing to the impressiveness of the ceremony . Lodge was then closed , and the brethren , thirty . fonr in

number , sat down to a very excellent banquet , provided by Messrs . Spiers and Pond ( Limited ) and superintended by Bro . Dawkins . The W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . Bro . Smith I . P . M . proposed the health of the Worshipful Master . The brethren were pleased to see how ably he had performed the ceremony of initiation ; they hoped on the next occasion to have another new member ,

and thus keep the W . M . in working order . He hoped tbe brethren would drink the toast with the enthusiasm it deserved , and wish tho W . M . a prosperous year of office . Bro . Stokes , in reply , thanked Bro . Smith for the kind manner he had spoken of him ; however , he felt he could hardly come up to the standard of tbe Past Masters , and was sure he could not excel them ; at the same time he would do

his utmost to equal them . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the newly initiated brother . From the attention he had paid to the ceremony he felt Bro . Wright would be a good Mason and a credit to the Lodge . Bro . Wright acknowledged the compliment . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Visitors , coupled with the names of Bros . H . M . Levy P . M . 188 , and Cnlpen 729 , who severally responded .

Ihe I . P . M . Bro . Smith was next complimented , and then the toast of the Treasurer and Secretary was given . After suitable response had been made , other toasts followed , and were duly acknowledged : the Tyler ' s closed a very harmonious and agreeable evening . Bros . Footo , Marcus , Garrett , Lowry , Corpe P . M ., Smith I . P . M . and the W . M . contributed some excellent songs , accompanied by Bros . Trego and Smith .

initiation , with considerable effect . Lodge was called off for entry drill , in whioh all present took part , and was then called on . Bro . Bate was elected W . M . for the ensuing week , when the Lodge will work in tho second degree with part sections and lecture . In con . sequence of other pressing engagements Bro . F . Thurston was reluctantly compelled to resign the office of Treasurer . Tho resig .

nation was accepted with much regret , and honorary membership conferred on Bro . Thnrston as some slight acknowledgment for past services . Bro . J . N . Bate was then unanimously elected Treasurer . Congratulations were expressed on the evident progress this Lodge of Instruction is making , and meeting as it does in a Temple prepared for and devoted solely to the purposes of

Freemasonry , and worked without any distracting accompaniments , we cannot be surprised that , amongst intelligent brethren , caring more for mental improvement than bodily enjoyment , there are to be found an increasing number of staunch supporters . After two hours of most profitable instrnction on this occasion , the Lodge closed in due form and the meeting adjourned .

New Concord Lodge of Instruction , No . 813— The usual meeting of the above Lodge was held at Brother Langdale ' a , Jolly Farmers' Tavern , Southgate Road , on Wednesday last . Bro . Lone occupied tho chair , supported by Bros . Marks S . W ., Ferrar J . W ., P . M . Cusworth Preceptor , Perl Secretary , Jones S . D ., Western J . D ., Gadbsy I . G ., Allsop , and others . N ., Buckhurst P . S . The Companions mustered in goodly numbers from the Metropolitan Chapters , thereby proving that the Royal Arch is making rapid advance with good workers .

The Companions of the North London Chapter will rehearse the Ceremony of Installation of Principals on Thursday evening , 1 st of November , at eight o'clock , at the Alwyne Castle , St . Paul ' s-road , Canonbury . The Provincinl Grand Master of Hampshire and the Isle

of Wight , the Right Wor . Brother W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., and his Officers , will conduct the ceremonies at the inauguration of the new Masonic Hall , -which has been erected at

Woolston , by Brother Chapman P . M ., for the accommodation of the rapidly increasing Clausentum Lodge . The opening will take place on Monday , the 19 tb of November , the tenth anniversary of the foundation of the Lodge .
