With regard to the Earl of Mount-Edgcumbe , he had had the pleasure of witnessing his work , and
could assert that it was of the most creditable description . He noticed that the toast of the Grand Officers was always given and responded to with the greatest heartiness , and for him it was a pleasure to respond on their behalf . The fact of witnessing the Installation of the second Master of the Longsight Lodge had been very gratifying to him , and the work as performed by Bro . Uttley

good Officers , and also upon the harmonious spirit which had been displayed , and ended by admonishing them to make a good record in the Province , but by means of quality and not simply of members . He afterwards supplemented these remarks by a letter addressed to Bro . Grimshaw W . M ., in which he said : — " Will you please send me a menu card , which I shall be glad to keep as a souvenir of a very pleasant and interesting occasion ? "
Bro . Uttley proposed the health of the newly-installed W . M . in very flattering terms , reverting to the part Bro . Grimshaw had taken in the formation of the Lodge . Bro . Grimshaw said , in reply , the flattering reception of the toast was all that a Worshipful Master could desire , and it was gratifying for him to acknowledge such a fact . Bro . Uttley had
acquitted himself remarkably well , but he had fallen into the error of putting too much colour in his work . The honour which they had bestowed upon him by a unanimous vote had been unsought , but having accepted the position he would cheerfull y endeavour to perform the duties faithfully . With regard to his Officers , he
thought he was so well supported that he could not possibly mend himself , and he looked forward to a prosperous year , in which they would get on well with whatever work might ' present itself . Although last year had been expensive , he was nroud to inform
them that they commenced the present one with twenty shillings in the £ . Other toasts followed . There was a good attendance of members and visitors . The menu card , which contained portraits of all the Officers
