PAXTON LODGE , No . 1686 .

THIS Lodge—which has hitherto held its mpetings at tho Crystal Palace , and has now , by consent of the Most Worshipfnl Grand Master , been removed to the Masonio Hall , Camberwell , the former place having been found very inconvenient for the members—held its installation meeting on Saturday , the 14 th instant . Lodgo having beeu opened , and tbe minutes confirmed , a ballot was about to be taken for tho initiation of Mr . T . Hanington ,

when Bro . Moore , M . A ., rose , and stated that he had no desire to oppose the introduction of Mr . Hanington into tho Lodge , but he would like his proposer to state his knowledge of the intended member . Bro . Partridge , as proposer , gave a very satisfactory reply , and Bro . Frances , as seconder of the proposition , said ho felt sure no member of the Lodge would introduce a candidate he thought

unworthy of the privilege of being ma ' " a Mason . The Rev . R . J . Simpson complimented the Lodge on I ' D evident care the brethren took in the selection of members , and thought it worthy . of imitation in all Lodges . The ballot proved unanimous in favour of Mr . Hanington , who was then introduced and ably inducted into the first mysteries of the Craft by Brother Sawyer . On

the retirement of Bro . Hanington . Lodge was opened in tho second degree , and Bro . Boswell was presented and duly installed into tho chair of K . S . by the W . M . Tho Officers were appointed as follow : —Bros . Basnett S . W ., Dodd J . W ., J . M . Klenck Treasurer , H . B . Frances Secretary , Walker S . D ., Goddard J . D ., Partridge I . G ., Sharman D . C , Damarfc W . S . The charges and addresses wero then given

by Bro . Frances in his usual impressive manner . A handsome jewel , the design of Bro . Frances , was presented to Bro . Sawyer I . P . M ., who had served the office of W . M . for eighteen months . The brethren then adjourned to banquet , where tho usual toasts were honoured , and charity—solicited for a special case of distress—met with a liberal response from the members .

Arnold , of a beantiful set of gauntlets , in bine satin and silver lace

for the W . M ., S . W . and J . W . respectively , Bro . Arnold assuring the Lodge it should never want for a friend while he was living ; and the other was the singing of a sweet Installation Hymn , specially composed for the occasion by Bro . C . R . Nunn , of Clacton-on-Sea . Tbe brethren then adjourned to a splendid banquet , served up in the excellent manner for which Brother Fleck is so well noted . The toasts

given in the usual Masonic manner , included The Queen and the Craft , The M . W . G . M . H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , The M . W . Pro G . M . of England , The R . W . D . G . Lodge was opened in the third , and closed to the first degree , when Bro . Uttch was elected W . M . for tho ensuing week .

Lodge Of Loyalty , No . 1607 . —The brethren of this Lodgo held their second meeting for the year , at the Alexandra Palace , on Saturday , 14 th inst . There were present Bros . E . Legge ( P . M . of the Urban Lodge ) W . M ., C . J . Perceval I . P . M ., E . Bedell S . W ., Jones ; . W ., Carr S . D ., Roberts J . D ., W . Oilier I . G ., J . Newton P . M . Sec , F . Brown P . M . Treas ., Webb P . M . ; also Bros . C . Hill ( Honorary

Member ) , A . Perceval , Gushing , Clark , Houldsworth , Little , & o Lodge was opened in tho usual form , and the minutes of previous meeting read and verified , after which the five last named brethren were asked the questions for tho second degree , and were entrusted . All of them then retired , and on re-admission were duly passed to the second degree , the charge and the lecture on the second tracing

board was delivered to them by the I . P . M . Bro . C . J . Perceval . A petition was signed on behalf of the widow of a deceased brother . All Masonio business being ended , Lodgo was closed according to ancient custom . After a short interval the brethren sat down to a rScherche banquet , admirably placed on the table by the enterprising

managers , Messrs . Jones and Barber . The usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were given , and the evening was enlivened by vocal harmony , ably rendered by several of tho members . The brethren broke up at an early hour , on thoir way to the Station passing through the Large Hall of the Alexandra Palace , which waa rendered more than ordinarily attractive by a beantiful show of flowers .

Friars Lodge of Instruction , No . 1349 . —Afc Bro . Pavitt ' s , Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 17 th instant . Bros . Smith W . M ., Ives S . W ., Myers J . W ., Pavitt I . G ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Musto Preceptor ; also Bros . McGeorge , Day , Keablo , Rawe , and Peterkon . Tho Lodgo opened , and after the minutes had been read , was advanced to the second dagree . Bro . McGeorge answered

the necessary questions , and the Lodge opened in the third , when the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , the Preceptor undertaking the Deacon's work , thus giving a practical lesson to the younger Masons present . Bro . Worsley worked the first section of the lecture . The Lodge closed to the first , when Bro . Worsley was elected W . M . for

the ensuing week , on which occasion sections only will be worked . Bnsiness to commence at seven precisely . As this is the first time the Secretary has undertaken to occupy the chair this year , we trust his friends will rally round him . He will be ably assisted by P . M . Myers as S . W .

Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held on tho 9 th inst ., at York . Bro . J . T . Seller in the chair j and there were also present Bros . C . G . Padel I . P . M ., T . B . Whytehead P . M ., J . S . Cumberland P . M ., G . Balmford P . M ., G . Simpson S . W ., Jas . Kay Secretary , T . Humphries Assistant Secretary , A . T . B . Turner and J . Blenkin Deacons , It . Ware , J . R . Jackson , and many other brethren . Tho bnsiness consisted of the raising of

Bro . Lamb to the third degree , which was performed by the W . M ., who also gave the traditional history , tracing board and working tools . Several volumes of books were presented to the Lodge library , and votes of thanks passed to the donors . Bro . J . S . Cumberland , Provincial Charity Steward , announced that he should be present at the forthcoming Festival for the Girls , and several subscriptions were added to his list . After the close of the Lodge a couple of hours were spent in social conversation and refreshment .

Kings Cross Lodge of Instruction , No . 1732 . —The regular meeting was held on the 15 th instant , afc Bro . Devine ' s , the Blue Posts , Charlotte-street , Fitzroy-square . Bros . Kauffmann W . M ., Davis S . W ., E . Harvey J . W ., Devine Treasurer , L . Solomon Sec , J . Harvey S . D ., N . Vallentine J . D ., H . Phillips I . G ., J . Hemming Preceptor . In all thirty-one brethren were present . The Lodge of

Instrnction was opened , and minutes of last meeting were confirmed . The first and fourth sections of the first lecture were worked . The ceremonies of passing and initiation were then rehearsed . Bros . Wood , W . 0 . Smith , Harrison , and Avenal were elected members . As Bro . Devine ' s premises are about to be rebuilt , ifc was necessary thafc the members should make arrangements to continue their Lodge of

Instruction somewhere in the immediate neighbourhood . It was therefore proposed and carried thafc so soon as it became necessary to remove , of which due notice will be given , the meetings be held temporarily at Bro . Copelin ' s , Adam ' s Arms , Hampstead-sfcreet , Fitzroy-square . Bro . Davis was elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and the meeting was adjonrned .

Lodge Of Loyalty , No . 1607 . —The brethren of this Lodgo held their second meeting for the year , at the Alexandra Palace , on Saturday , 14 th inst . There were present Bros . E . Legge ( P . M . of the Urban Lodge ) W . M ., C . J . Perceval I . P . M ., E . Bedell S . W ., Jones ; . W ., Carr S . D ., Roberts J . D ., W . Oilier I . G ., J . Newton P . M . Sec , F . Brown P . M . Treas ., Webb P . M . ; also Bros . C . Hill ( Honorary

Member ) , A . Perceval , Gushing , Clark , Houldsworth , Little , & o Lodge was opened in tho usual form , and the minutes of previous meeting read and verified , after which the five last named brethren were asked the questions for tho second degree , and were entrusted . All of them then retired , and on re-admission were duly passed to the second degree , the charge and the lecture on the second tracing

board was delivered to them by the I . P . M . Bro . C . J . Perceval . A petition was signed on behalf of the widow of a deceased brother . All Masonio business being ended , Lodgo was closed according to ancient custom . After a short interval the brethren sat down to a rScherche banquet , admirably placed on the table by the enterprising

managers , Messrs . Jones and Barber . The usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were given , and the evening was enlivened by vocal harmony , ably rendered by several of tho members . The brethren broke up at an early hour , on thoir way to the Station passing through the Large Hall of the Alexandra Palace , which waa rendered more than ordinarily attractive by a beantiful show of flowers .

Friars Lodge of Instruction , No . 1349 . —Afc Bro . Pavitt ' s , Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 17 th instant . Bros . Smith W . M ., Ives S . W ., Myers J . W ., Pavitt I . G ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Musto Preceptor ; also Bros . McGeorge , Day , Keablo , Rawe , and Peterkon . Tho Lodgo opened , and after the minutes had been read , was advanced to the second dagree . Bro . McGeorge answered

the necessary questions , and the Lodge opened in the third , when the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , the Preceptor undertaking the Deacon's work , thus giving a practical lesson to the younger Masons present . Bro . Worsley worked the first section of the lecture . The Lodge closed to the first , when Bro . Worsley was elected W . M . for

the ensuing week , on which occasion sections only will be worked . Bnsiness to commence at seven precisely . As this is the first time the Secretary has undertaken to occupy the chair this year , we trust his friends will rally round him . He will be ably assisted by P . M . Myers as S . W .

Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held on tho 9 th inst ., at York . Bro . J . T . Seller in the chair j and there were also present Bros . C . G . Padel I . P . M ., T . B . Whytehead P . M ., J . S . Cumberland P . M ., G . Balmford P . M ., G . Simpson S . W ., Jas . Kay Secretary , T . Humphries Assistant Secretary , A . T . B . Turner and J . Blenkin Deacons , It . Ware , J . R . Jackson , and many other brethren . Tho bnsiness consisted of the raising of

Bro . Lamb to the third degree , which was performed by the W . M ., who also gave the traditional history , tracing board and working tools . Several volumes of books were presented to the Lodge library , and votes of thanks passed to the donors . Bro . J . S . Cumberland , Provincial Charity Steward , announced that he should be present at the forthcoming Festival for the Girls , and several subscriptions were added to his list . After the close of the Lodge a couple of hours were spent in social conversation and refreshment .

Kings Cross Lodge of Instruction , No . 1732 . —The regular meeting was held on the 15 th instant , afc Bro . Devine ' s , the Blue Posts , Charlotte-street , Fitzroy-square . Bros . Kauffmann W . M ., Davis S . W ., E . Harvey J . W ., Devine Treasurer , L . Solomon Sec , J . Harvey S . D ., N . Vallentine J . D ., H . Phillips I . G ., J . Hemming Preceptor . In all thirty-one brethren were present . The Lodge of

Instrnction was opened , and minutes of last meeting were confirmed . The first and fourth sections of the first lecture were worked . The ceremonies of passing and initiation were then rehearsed . Bros . Wood , W . 0 . Smith , Harrison , and Avenal were elected members . As Bro . Devine ' s premises are about to be rebuilt , ifc was necessary thafc the members should make arrangements to continue their Lodge of

Instruction somewhere in the immediate neighbourhood . It was therefore proposed and carried thafc so soon as it became necessary to remove , of which due notice will be given , the meetings be held temporarily at Bro . Copelin ' s , Adam ' s Arms , Hampstead-sfcreet , Fitzroy-square . Bro . Davis was elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and the meeting was adjonrned .
