M . 879 , Grontage 1586 , Ritson 2647 , Solomon P . M . 1732 , & c . The Lodge having been opened and the minutes confirmed , the W . M . proceeded to raise Bro . R . J . Burridge to the degree of Master Mason .
Messrs . W . H . Baker , Joseph Cooper and W . J . L . Jones having been balloted for and approved , the VV . M . initiated them into the mysteries and privileges in a very careful manner , each of the three gentlemen appearing much impressed with the ceremony , the performance of which , with the other degree , proved that the choice of the Brethren , in having selected Bro . Hyde to preside over them , was a good one . A proposition for initiation at the next meeting was received .
It was proposed , seconded and carried unanimously that sums of £ 10 10 s each should be placed on the lists of Bros . Toye P . M . and Carroll I . G ., who are representing the Lodge at the Centenary Festival of the Boys Institution . A motion by Bro . Bray S . W ., respecting a Ladies night , was very freely
discussed by tbe Brethren , it being generally thought that it was somewhat too late in the teason for a banquet , and that it would be advisable to consider the question of a summer outing instead . After remarks by the W . M ., Bros . Free Secretary , Jeffery P . M ., Toye P . M ., and Peters P . M ., it was decided to let the matier stand over .
The sum of £ 1 ls Od was voted for the benefit of the funds of the Earlswood Asylum . The Brethren then adjourned to the banquet room , and the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given by the W . M ., interspersed by songs and recitations by Bros . Smith P . M ., Keable , Bell , Wall , Burridge , and others . The Charity box collection realised 16 s 6 d .

THIS Company announces cheap excursions from London on Friday , 27 th inst ., to the principal stations in the north of England and Scotland , tickets being available for return in 4 , 6 , 8 , or 16 days . On Saturday , 28 th , other excursions will run for 3 , 6 , or 8 days , while on Whit Monday , 30 th , there will be the usual one day trips to St . Albans and other Stations in that locality , to Peterborough , Skegness , & c , & c A two days excursion will be run on Thursday night , 2 nd June , to Manchester , for the Races .

UNDER the auspices of the Horsa Lodge , No . 2208 , of which Bro . G . B . Bridge is the Worshipful Master , a conversazione was given in tha Masonic Hall , on Monday , 9 th inst . The hall was suitably arranged , and there was a large attendance of
ladies and gentlemen . During the evening Bro . Niel Macgillycuddy , M . R . C . P ., gave a demonstration of the induction coil , vacuum tubes , and Rontgen X ray apparatus , and a selection of microscopes , lent by Mr . George Pearce , were displayed under the charge of Bro . J . H . Williams . A capital programme was also carried out under the direction of Bro . H . Holloway , Mus . Bac . Oxon .
