PRIZE DAY AT THE SCHOOL .
IjlAVOURED by splendid weather tho large number of ladies and Brethren ' who assembled on Monday at the Schools , at Battersea Rise , must havo been delighted with all they saw and heard . Tbe occasion vvas the
annual distribution of prizes to the pupils , and visitation of tho Stewards of the year , and although the number of Brethren who were working in the latter capacity vvas very small compared with previous years , yet there was no lack of visitors on this occasion , the company probably numbering upwards of five hundred .
Lady Hanson kindly undertook the distribution of the prizes , being accompanied by Sir Reginald Hanson , Bart ., M . P ., P . G . W . Patron and Treasurer of the Institution , and their daughter Miss Violet Hanson , the latter of whom replied , on her mother's behalf , to a vote of thanks enthusiastically carried after the prizes had been presented , on the proposition of Sir John Monckton . In doing so , Miss Hanson said her mother had deputed
her to say what a very great pleasure it had beer , to her to pay a visit to . the Institution . Personally , she ( Miss Hanson ) had known the Institution for a long time , had visited it many times , had been connected with it . and knew some of the girls . It had always been a regret to her that a lady could not he a Freemason , because if ladies were Freemasons they would take a great ; interest in the various Masonic Institutions . However , as ladies could not be
Masons , the best thing they could do was to interest themselves in Masonic good works . If all Masons were to take their wives and daughters to see that admirable Institution , and tbe other Institutions , she was sure those wives and daughters would become governors , and so advance the interests of the School . Miss Hanson concluded by wishing " Health and Prosperity to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . "
It was announced by Sir John Monckton Chairman of the House Committee for the day , that Constance Green , the last Gold Medallist , had obtained the second place on a list of 357 candidates in the recent Civil Service Examination , a statement that was loudly applauded .
The programme arranged for the occasion was excellently carried out by the pupils , who evidenced the same careful training as has so long been a marked feature with the children cared for in this excellent Masonic Institution . The following is a list of the prize winners :
