"What ' s in a name ? " asks the immortal bard , and although we must agree that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet , we must yet recognise that in the present day very much depends on applying the recognised appellation to anyone or anything we refer to . In our last week ' s report of

the Confidence Lodge reference was made to a well-deserved compliment paid by the acting Master to the Organist of the Lodge , known in Masonic circles as Bro . Edwin Henry Lough , and although some of his more intimate friends are aware that professionally he omits the " Lough , " there are

some who would fail to associate the '' Edwin Henry , whose Musical Sketches- at the Piano are so well known outside of Freemasonry , with onr esteemed Brother , and as a consequence we might have to reply to Shakespeare ' s query by saying there is often very much in a name . We hope Mr . Edwin Henry , or Bro . E . H . Lough , as the case may be , may continue to amuse numerous audiences for many years to

come . o o o The Secret Society Publishing Co ., of Columbus , Ohio , has offered two prizes , consisting of fifty and twenty-five dollars cash , for the best articles on " How to make the Lodge Meetings Interesting . " A contemporary remarks

thereon : We are pleased to learn of this , and trust they may have many responses to the same . The prize articles will be published in the May and June issues of the "Masonic Chronicle " ( Columbus ) . The offer is open to all members of the Fraternity . I sometimes wonder , remarks the " Figaro , " what the eminent and royal Freemason , who is such an ornament to his Order , would say to some of the things that he might read in the French Press . I do not attempt to explain this

curious phenomenon , except that the Press and parties , who are as a rule so bitterly anti-Jew , anti-Protestant , and anti-Freemason , are generally the ultra-Catholic , and secular secret societies are forbidden in the Catholic Church .
