The addresses to the Master , the Officers , and the Brethren were delivered by Bro . W . H . Foot in a masterly manner , which evoked the hearty app lause of the Brethren . There were two candidates for initiation , but unfortunately , owing to illness they were unable to be present . Notice was given of a proposition to raise the annual subscription from three to four guineas .

In recognition of the services of Bro . T . C . Corpe as Treasurer of the Lodge for the past twelve years it was resolved that he be made an honorary member . Brother Foot having stated that he would go up as a Steward at the next Festival of the Boys School , a sum of ten guineas was voted from the Lodge funds to head the list .

Brother Mussared stated that since their last meeting Bro . Alfred John Dixie had died , and it was most desirable that they should endeavour to have one of his boys elected for the Boys School . Any Brother who had any votes was therefore urged to send them to the Secretary . This concluding the business of the evening , the W . M . received the hearty good wishes of the Brethren , and the Lodge was closed .

The banquet was given at the Freemasons' Tavern , to which a large company sat down , and at its termination the customary Loyal and Masonic and complimentary toasts were submitted . During the evening a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . VV . H . Lowry , for which he expressed his sincere thanks . «¦

An excellent programme of music was provided by Brother Arthur Strugnell , who was assisted by Mesdames Alice Lovenez and Edna Riga and Brothers Walter Perrins and Turle Lee . Altogether a most interesting

. Bro . Lowry proposed the toast of the W . M ., and said the Brethren could not have chosen a better or more expert Brother as their head , he being a perfectly capable worker and a genial host .

Bro . Mussared replied . He had gone through all the offices of the Lodge and therefore he thought he had earned his position of W . M . He should endeavour to carry out his duties as efficiently as previous WM . s of the Duke of Cornwall Lodge had done . He would do everything in his power to fulfil his year of office in a way that the Lodge would not be ashamed of .

Bro . Mussared proposed the Installing Masters Bro . Lowry and Bro * Foot . Both of these Brethren had done their work admirably , and it had been thoroughly appreciated . Bros . Lowry and Foot replied , the former stating that though he might

not have perfected himself in the work , he still had done his best . As a business man he had not much time to devote to learning Masonic ritual , but he hoped he had performed his work to the Brethren ' s satisfaction . Bro . Foot stated that it was extremely gratifying to him to have what he had done recognised so kindly by the Brethren .

Bro . McLeod responded to the toast of the Charities , and Bros . Scott Miller , Davison , Whitford , Klingenstein , and others to the toast of the Visitors . The other toasts were the Immediate Past Master , responded to by Bro . Lowry , who thanked the Brethren for the P . M . ' s jewel he had received ; the Past Masters , acknowledged by Bros . It is not often that we present our readers with the Loyal toasts , because there is generally such a semblance of sentiment , but we will deviate from our custom on this occasion , the remarks of Brother Proudman W . the toast of the Queen . During the fifty-eight years of Her Majesty's happy reign her dominions have been extended in every part of the globe , and at home , we , her subjects , enjoy a freedom which our ancestors never knew , and a prosperity unexampled in the history of any nation the world has ever seen .
