After the formal opening , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Treasurer's report was received . The ballot was then taken and proved unanimous in favour of Messrs . Edward Solomon , William Youwin , and Thomas George Sandford , as candidates for initiation . Those gentlemen were then prepared and admitted , and were regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Craft by the Worshipful Master . The ceremony was admirably carried out by all concerned . The ancient charge was given by Bro . Blasters P . M .
Bro . Beamish gave notice of motion that at the next meeting he would propose the customary Christmas gratuities to the local charities . The resignation of two old members was accepted with regret . The Secretary read a letter dated from Lagos , West Coast of Africa , from Bro . Wimpress , who was initiated prior to his leaving England , stating that he had been regularly raised to the third degree in the Lodge of St . John , at Lagos , and signifying his early return to England .
The Visitors having tendered their congratulations the Lodge was closed and the proceedings terminated . The Brethren subsequently partook of supper , after which some interesting Masonic topics were discussed .
LODGE OF SYMPATHY , No . 483 . THE annual festival of this flourishing Lodge took place on the 11 th inst ., ' at the Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , with all the success that usually makes its gatherings so conspicuous . The excellent Masonic custom exists of inviting the Masters of surrounding Lodges to bo present upon these auspicious occasions , and most of the Lodges were represented , besides a large numb-.-r of other visiting Brethren , forming altogether an assemblage of nearly a hundred persons . After the formal opening , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Treasurer's report was received . The ballot was then taken and proved unanimous in favour of Messrs . Edward Solomon , William Youwin , and Thomas George Sandford , as candidates for initiation . Those gentlemen were then prepared and admitted , and were regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Craft by the Worshipful Master . The ceremony was admirably carried out by all concerned . The ancient charge was given by Bro . Blasters P . M .
Bro . Beamish gave notice of motion that at the next meeting he would propose the customary Christmas gratuities to the local charities . The resignation of two old members was accepted with regret . The Secretary read a letter dated from Lagos , West Coast of Africa , from Bro . Wimpress , who was initiated prior to his leaving England , stating that he had been regularly raised to the third degree in the Lodge of St . John , at Lagos , and signifying his early return to England .
The Visitors having tendered their congratulations the Lodge was closed and the proceedings terminated . The Brethren subsequently partook of supper , after which some interesting Masonic topics were discussed .
LODGE OF SYMPATHY , No . 483 . THE annual festival of this flourishing Lodge took place on the 11 th inst ., ' at the Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , with all the success that usually makes its gatherings so conspicuous . The excellent Masonic custom exists of inviting the Masters of surrounding Lodges to bo present upon these auspicious occasions , and most of the Lodges were represented , besides a large numb-.-r of other visiting Brethren , forming altogether an assemblage of nearly a hundred persons . Bro . Alfred John Walklin terminated his year of office in brilliant fashion
