passing of Bro . Thomas Hesketh Meade , the ceremony being performed by the W . M ., this being followed by the raising to tho sublime degree of M . M . of Bro . Thomas Archer . The ceremony was performed by the I . P . M . The tools in each case were presented and explained by the J . W . The usual festive board followed .

The ceremonies of Initiation and Passing were rehearsed . Bros . Pearse , and Swift being the candidates . Bro . A . Rusby then worked the 3 rd section of the Lecture . A Committee will be appointed this evening ( Saturday ) to arrange for the annual supper .
ALL SAINTS LODGE , No . 1716 . THE annual supper of this Lodge of Instruction was held at the Town Hall , Poplar , on Friday , 13 th inst ., when a substantial repast was tastefully and well served by Bro . T . Johnson , to which thirty-two sat down , under the presidency of the Worshipful Mastet of the Mother Lodge , Bro . Preceptor Allen .
. After the Loyal toasts , Bro . Raymond P . M . proposed prosperity and success to the All Saints Lodge of Instruction , coupling with it the name of Bro . Preceptor Allen , who held the reputation of being a thorough good Mason , and one who had the best interests of the Lodge at heart , always endeavouring that the work in the Lodge should bo above reproach . It was always a pleasure to take part in the weekly meetings ; brethren generally were cordially invited to attend and support Bro . Allen , for he was a jolly good fellow .
In reply , Bro . Allen thanked tho Brethren heartily for the kind terms in which the toast was proposed , and for the reception accorded him . He considered it a great honour to have his name coupled with the toast . Adverting to a remark which fell from the lips of Bro . P . M . Raymond , he would like to say that what slight alteration in the work had been made from time to time had not been introduced as an innovation , but as true Emulation ritual .
As a member of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement it had always been his earnest desire that the work in the Lodge should be strictly in accordance with that ritual , and no other . He was pleased to find the Brethren appreciated his efforts , and assured them that whilst uniformity of work existed and the spirit of emulation was abroad , forward progress would result .
Bro . Allen in a cordial manner proposed the health of the Visitors—Bros . Rich W . M . 2409 , Slater J . W . 2409 , Thornton J . D . 1805 , Reader 781 , Cranston 1716 , and With 1716 . Bros . Rich , Slater , and Thornton , in appreciative terms acknowledged the toast .
Bro . Allen then proposed the health of the Past Masters , and the Officers of the Mother Lodge . He deplored the small muster of Past Masters , but he had been informed that pressure of other business had alone prevented more from attending . However , he was pleased to find himself supported by Bro . P . M . Raymond Secretary of the Charitable Association , and Bro . I . P . M . Waterson , both of whom were most regular in their attendances at the Lodge of Instruction , as were also the Officers who were present that evening .
The toast was suitably replied to by Brothers Raymond P . M ., Waterson I . P . M ., Jones J . W ., Mosey Sec , and Bland S . W . A special toast was next proposed by Bro . Allen , who said as W . M . of the All Saints Lodge he had much pleasure in proposing the health ot Bro . John Bennett , the recently installed W . M . of fche Trinity College Lodge , and who was a regular attendant and an assiduous worker at the Lodge of Instruction . He hoped their Bro . Bennett would have a successful year of office .
Bro . J . Bennett , in a few well chosen words , thanked the Brethren for the compliment paid him . The toasts of the Treasurer , Secretary , and the Steward brought a very successful evening to a close . The pleasure of the evening was enhanced by same capital songs and recitations , given by Bros . G . Anderson , Bussey , E . Jones , J . Bennett , T . B . Folkes , Bland , and Mosey .
BROMLEY ST . LEONARD LODGE , No . 1805 . THE annual supper of this successful Lodge was held on the 27 th ult ., at the Bromley Vestry Hall , Bro . Ben Johnson P . M . 1805 presiding over a company of well-known members of the Craft . A very enjoyable evening was spent , the able services of the Preceptor Bro . J . De Casseres P . M . and the Secretary Bro . F . Thornton being especially

was elected W . M . for next meeting . It was resolved that a letter of condolence be sent to the widow of the late Bro . J . R . Cordell P . M . and Treasurer of the New Concord Lodge , No . 813 P . Z . & c , one of the founders of the Cidadel Lodge of Instruction . A wreath was also subscribed for by the members nresent .
It was decided to hold the Lodge of Instruction supper on Friday , 21 st February , at the Holborn Restaurant , ladies being admitted . All arrangements were left in the hands of Bros . Dunstan , Wyatt and Willsmer .
WOODGRANGE LODGE , No . 2409 . THE second annual ball under the auspices of members of this Lodge will take place at the Stratford Town Hall , on Wednesday , Sth February 1896 . The object is to aid the funds of the West Ham Hospital , and it is hoped the success of last year will be repeated in so good a cause .

ST . ANDREW LODGE , No . 34 . THE regular meeting was held on Tuesday , 10 th inst ., at the Freemasons ' Hall , Manchester , Bro . Arthur Kemp Boothroyd W . M . There were also present : —Bros . Joseph T . Richardson P . M ., J . M . Sinclair P . P . G . M . O ., J . Arensberg P . P . G . Swd . Br ., G . A . Myers P . M . P . P . G . Swd . B ., Clare Edgar Towell P . M ., S . Searle J . D ., and others .
The principal business was thafc of electing Officers , the choice falling upon Bros . Jas . M . Veal as Master , Boothroyd as Treasurer , and Boothroyd and Richardson as Auditors . A resolution was passed that an Instruction Lodge be re-formed under the St . Andrew Warrant , and we sincerely hope this will prove to be an excellent institution .
TEMPLE LODGE , No . 173 . THE regular meeting was held at the London Tavern , Fenchurch Street , on Monday , 16 th inst . The Lodge was opened in due form by Bro . W . H . Toye W . M ., with Bros . Barrow S . W ., Jennings J . W ., Jupson M . O ., and other Officers .
The Sec . Bro . G . W . Verry Grand Deacon read the minutes of the lasfc Lodge meeting , which were confirmed . Two Brethren were elected as candidates for the Ark Mariner ' s degree . The election for W . M . was unanimous in favour of tho S . W . Bro . Barrow . A Past Master ' s jewel was voted for tho W . M ., and the Lodge was closed in due form .
The Ark Mariner s degree was on the summons to be worked , and Bro . Vincent Grand Officer was invited to work it . The two Brethren previously elected took the degree , which Bro . Vincent gave in a perfect manner , although he was very unwell , and had to leave directly after he had installed
the W . M . as Worshipful Commander Noah , m the presence of the M . W . Pro Grand Master Bro . Lord Euston , and the Provincial Grand Master Bro . Col . Cook , who came expressly fco see this degree worked . As fche Provincial Grand Master Bro . Col . Cook stated at the festive board , this Lodge is the only one in his Province that has an Ark Mariner ' s Lodge attached to it .
This was the first time the Temple Mark Lodge had had the great honour of being visited by tho Pro Grand Master , but not the first time that the Provincial Grand Master had attended , he having been present on several
occasions , while he has certainly been very kind in bestowing honours upon the Brethren of the Lodge . At the last Provincial Grand Lodge meeting for Middlesex he was pleased to confer no less than three collars on Temple Brethren , including the W . M . as Provincial Grand Sword Bearer .
The Ark Mariner's Lodge was olosed in due form , and the Brethren adjourned to the Banqueting Room , where a goodly repast was provided by Bro . Start . After the usual Loyal toasts those of the Pro Grand Master and of the Provincial Grand Master were given and most ably replied to , aftor which the distinguished Brethren took their departure .
The remainder of the evening was spent in the usual toasting , which was interspersed by some excellent singing by Bro . Chitson , Bro . Smart , Miss L . E . Toye , and Miss E . Toye , who were much appreciated by the Brethren .
DEVON LODGE , No . 215 . THE elections for the ensuing year took place at the regular meeting , held on Monday , 2 nd in ? t ., at the Masonic Hall , Newton Abbot , when Bro . M . Fortescue was chosen W . M . and Bro . W . Vicary Treasurer .
