Meeting Of The Lodge Of Benevolence.

MEETING OF THE LODGE OF BENEVOLENCE .

THE Lodge of Benevolence held its first meeting for the present year on Wednesday evening . Tho chairs of President , Senior Vice-President , and Junior Vice-President , were occupied respectively by Bro . Joshua Nunn P . G . S . B . Senior Vice-President , Bro . S . Rawson Past D . G . M . of China , and Bro . Henry Garrod P . M . 749 . The attendance of brethren , owing no doubt to the great inclemency

of the weather , was not so large as usual . The brethren first confirmed the grants recommended at last meeting , amounting to £ 590 . There were twenty-eight new cases on the list , nineteen of which , after a long sitting , were relieved , with a total sum of £ 520 . Eight oases were deferred , being incomplete , and one was dismissed . The Lodge of Benevolence was thon closed .

Yarborough Lodge of Instruction , No . 554 . —On Tuesday , the 18 th instant , the Fifteen Sections were to have been worked by Bro . P . M . Andrews , assisted by a capital list of good workers . However , it could scarcely have been expected that any number would in such weather as prevailed on that day be at the trouble of attending . Still , Bro . Andrews was to the front , and secured a

really good muster . The ordinary work was done , and Bro . Andrews was supported by Bros . Shingfield as S . W ., Loane J . W ., T . F . Harvey S . D ., Judd I . G ., and G . H . Stephens Acting Preceptor . Bros . J . Taylor , Wilson , W . Musto P . M ., T . J . Tyer , Anderson , & c , were also present . After the usual preliminaries , the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . J . Taylor candidate . The W . M . worked the first , second , and third sections of the lecture , assisted by the brethren .

Bros . A . Judd 1421 and T . J . Tyer 1306 were admitted members , and the working of the Fifteen Sections having been fixed , subject to confirmation , for the 15 th proximo , Lodge was closed and adjourned until the 1 st February , instead of , as would have been the case , to the 25 th instant , owing to the Yarborough Masonio Benevolent Association holding its usual monthly meeting on the latter mentioned day .

¦ William of Wykeham Lodge , No 1883—This new Lodge has attracted many candidates , and at Lodges of Emergency , on Tuesday and Wednesday nights , the W . M . ( Bro . Everitt ) initiated eight candidates , being aided in the heavy work by P . M . ' s W . Gamon , E . D . Godwin ( Mayor ) , and A . A . Hill . The banquet was held on Wednesday night at the George Hotel . The attendance was good , and Bro . Palmer ' s catering gave entire satisfaction to the Lodge .
