The large room had been entirely renovated and carpeted , and with some appropriate decorations presented a most cheerful appearance .

The toasts of the Queen and Craft , and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , K . G ., Most Worshipful Grand Master of England , were appropriately introduced by tho Worshipful Master Bro . G . R . King , who occupied the chair , and wero warmly received . Brother Golden proposed the Masonic Charities in suitable terms , saying there

was a warm place in the heart of all Masons for their three great Charitable Institutions . Bro . Wyatt responded , and said he sincerely hoped that during this Jubilee year , when their own Provincial Grand Master , Bro . W . W . Beach , M . P ., was to preside at the Anniversary Festival of the Royal Masonio Benevolent Institution , there would be

a special effort made to do hononr to his office , by largely increased contributions from the Lodges in his Province . The collection at the table , here made as usual on the occurrence of this toast , realised £ 5 5 s . Bro . C . E . Lock proposed the M . W . the Pro Grand Master of England , the Earl of Carnarvon ; the R . W . D . G . M . the Earl of Lathom ;

Lock said his toast was a speech in itself , and he should therefore do little moro than express his admiration at the excellent manner in

which their high officers did their work . Bro . Wyatt P . P . G . S . W ., in the course of his speech in acknowledgment of the toast , gave some interesting reminiscences of tbe earlier Provincial Officers within his recollection . Bro . Wheeler P . P . G . D . also responded . He said he had had the pleasure of knowing Bro . Beach for some time , and

he never failed to be impressed with the admirable way in which the Provincial Grand Master did his work . Bro . Le Feuvre had carried out the arduous duties of Provincial Grand Secretary for many years in a most efficient manner . He well deserved the promotion to the rank of Deputy Provincial Grand Master which he had gained , and

every brother in the province rejoiced at his preferment . Bros . Kentfield P . P . G . O . and Jones P . P . G . O . also acknowledged the toast . The Worshipful Master , Bro . G . R . King , was proposed in cordial terms by the I . P . M ., Bro . Garnham , who spoke of the great pleasure with which he had worked with Bro . King for the last four or five

years as an Officer of the Lodge . The brethren had bestowed wellmerited honour when they had elected Bro . King to the highest office in the Lodge , and he heartily wished him all happiness during his year in the chair . Bro . King acknowledged the toast in feeling terms , saying ho should endeavour to emulate the way in which his

predecessor , Bro . Garnham , had discharged his duties , and he earnestly trusted that the interests of the Lodge would not suffer in his hands ; He had many excellent examples before him , and he should try to follow them . Bro . Buckell submitted the toast of the immediate Past Master , Bro . J . G . Garnham , in a warmly congratulatory speech ,

paying a special tribute to the courtesy and efficiency with which Bro . Garnham had carried out his duties during the year . The toast was acknowledged by Bro . Garnham in an appropriate manner . The Visiting Brethren , proposed by Bro . Wheeler in a felicitous speech , was acknowledged by Bros . Evens and Wakeham . The services of

the Installing Master next received appropriate recognition , and the compliment was acknowledged by Bro . Kentfield . In proposing the Past Masters , Bro . Price said the Albany Lodge was particularly fortunate in its Past Masters , who did not lose interest in the affairs of the Lodge when they had passed the chair , bnt continued to do

their best to keep their juniors up to their work . He himself looked forward to the attainment of this rank , which seemed to confer a most desirable sense of repose , of dignity , and of self-satisfaction . The toast was acknowledged by Bro . Lock . The Treasurer and Secretary was introduced by Bro . Dr . Coombs , who said the holding of

these two offices entailed a great deal of work , and the Lodge was particularly fortunate in having two brethren in those offices who carried out the duties so admirably as did Bro . Pring and Bro . Kentfield . In their respective positions they had succeeded two brethren , Bro . Alio and Bro . Wyatt , who had perhaps done more for Masonry

in Newport than any one else . In their time the minute and account books had gained special commendation in Provincial Grand Lodge , and he was well aware that these books were kept in an equally efficient manner by the present holders of the offices . The Officers of the Lodge was submitted in complimentary terms by Brother Dr .
