REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CRAFT : METEOPOLITAN . — : a : — LEOPOLD LODGE , No . 1571 . AN emergency meeting of this well known Lodge took place on Wednesday , ab the Bridge House Hotel , London Bridge , Bros . J . Hampton W . M ., J . Langford S . W ., G . Howell J . W ., W . Carey P . M . Treas ., E . J . Morgan P . M . Sec , E . A . Morris S . D ., Percy Leach J . D ., J . Duffield P . M . D . C ., H . Lee acting I . G ., J . Payne Stowar . l , A . G . Young P . M . Tyler , W . Packer P . M ., A . Sirnmonds , W . Coad , W . M Egles , James Durell , Joseph Durell , C . Whitefield , J . Lattimor , and several others . Visitor : Bro . J . K . Pitt P . P . G . Std . B . Surrey .

The Lodge was opened in tho three degrres and resumed in the second , when Bros . Joseph and James Durell , and James LAttimer wore examined and entrusted . The Lodge was advanced and those Brethren were raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason . The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Bro . Percy Brownfield was presented for the second ceremony . Having proved himself qualified in the first degree he was entrusted , and the Lodge being advanced he was promoted to the rank of Fellow Craft .

The excellent working of the W . M . was highly appreciated by all the Brethren , and well earned hearty good wishes having been tendered , the Lodge was closed in due form and the Brethren retired to the banqueting room , where an excellent repast was provided . The Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly attended to , while several of the Brethren added to the enjoyment of the evening . Amongst them was Bro . W . Packer , who favoured the Brethren with some delightful songs . Bro . Arthur E . Kipps was the accompanist . .

THE Brethren of this Lodge assembled on Tuesday , at the Cafe Monico , Regent Street , W ., to celebrate the annual festival and to witness the installation of the new Master for the ensuing year . Bro . L . S . Genese , the outing Master , presided , and was supported by Bros . Edward Terry P . G . T ., W . M . Stiies P . G . T ., Wm . A , Scurrah P . G . S . B ., B . Da Costa P . M . 1349 , C . Coleman P . M . 1425 , W . B . Trick P . M . 1366 , Hy . Lazarus W . M . 1668 , G . Lavin 1668 , Henry 3 . Thomas P . M . 753 , H . Chetham

The Lodge was duly opened , and the minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . Mr . George Louisson was balloted for and approved as a candidate for initiation at the next meeting . Bros . Harold Arthur Pooles , of the Hendon Lodge , and Siegfried Bleistein , of the Tranquility Lodge , were accepted as joining members . Bros . T . H . Smith and E . J . Eeilley , having proved their proficiency as Craftsmen , were duly raised as Master Masons , and took their seats in the Lodge .

The next business was the installation of Bro . Harry Townend as W . M ., he being presented b y Bro . P . M . Myers , but previous to the ceremony a dispensation from Grand Lodge was read by the Secretary , allowing Brother Townend to be installed , as he is still Master of the Clissold Lodge , No . 2551 . This done , the W . M . elect gave his assent to the ancient charges and regulations , and was duly obligated . The Brethren having retired , a Board

of Installed Masters , numbering twenty-two , was formed , when Bro . Townend was regularly installed in the chair according to ancient custom , and was congratulated by the Board . The Brethren were re-admitted , and saluted the new Master , who was formally proclaimed . The ceremonies were admirably rendered by Bro . Genese , and his delivery of the beautiful addresses elicited the high commendation of the Lodge .

The following Officers were appointed and invested : —Bros . L . S . Genese I . P . M ., H . Raphael S . W ., J . L . Goldstein J . W ., T . Honey P . M . Treasurer , E . J . Acworth P . P . G . Tr . Essex Secretary , J . Hodgkyns P . M . S . D ., S . H . Jones J . D ., E . Searle I . G ., W . Wright P . P . G . O . Mddx . Organise , H . Pleteher-Campbell D . C , H . J . Barnato and M . Hyman Stewards , and R . Morley Tyler , to all of whom the Master addressed a few words of exhortation and encouragement , winding up with the ancient charge to the Tyler .

Before the Lodge was closed Bro . Townend presented his predecessor with the Lodge jewel , in recognition of his services during his year of office . The value of the jewel was enhanced by a magnificent diamond presented by Bro . Harry Barnato , as a mark of his regard . Bro . Genese suitably returned thanks , and expressed his satisfaction at the prosperous position of the Lodge .

Another valuable jewel was presented to Bro . W . Wright , who has acted as Organist to the Lodge since its consecration , and has contributed in no small degree to the solemnity of the ritual in the Lodge , and the amusement of the Brethren afterwards .

Bro . Wright expressed his sincere thanks for the handsome present . He said it was always A pleasure to attend the Barnato Lodge , and if he had contributed to its harmony he was more than satisfied . Another candidate was proposed for initiation , so the Master will have plenty of work to go on with . This concluding the business of the evening , the Visitors tendered their congratulations , and the Lodge was closed .

The company then adjourned to the banquet room , where dinner was served . The menu cards were very tastefully got up , and contained appropriate quotations at the head of each course , while a portrait of Bro . Townend

graced its pages . At the conclusion of dinner some instantaneous photographs of the company were taken by Messrs . Fradelle and Young . The usual post prandial speeches followed , and a very enjoyable evening was spent , the music being provided by Bro . Wright , assisted by several artistes , including Bros . Jameison and Noel . We gave a biographical sketch of Bro . Harry Townend when he was installed Master of the Clissold Lodge last year , and we have now the pleasure to present our readers with his portrait .

INSTRUCTION .

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . ON Tuesday , at the Oliver Arms , Westbourne Terrace North , Harrow Road , W ., as announced in our last issue would be the case , Bro . E . Thomas occupied the chair of K . S ., and there was a good attendance of Brethren to witness the working of that Brother . It proved a most agreeable surprise , for our Brother fulfilled the duties of the chair in a most perfect

manner on this , the first occasion of his presiding . The acting W . M . had the following able assistants in the work of the Lodge : —Bros . G . Weaver S . W ., C . Halston J . W ., H . Dehane P . M . Preceptor , R . J . Rogers P . M . Treas ., G . Mogford P . M . Sec , W . Llewellyn S . D ., H . Bagnall J . D ., Smith I . G . ; with Bros . G . Knight P . M . ' , Sweet P . M ., Mogford I . P . M ., F . Beesley , W . Busby , Rockman , and J . Wynman .

The Lodge was opened in regular form and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . T . Mogford kindly acting as candidate . After this ceremony , which gave the expected satisfaction , the Lodge was called off and on . Resuming the duties , the W . M . intimated to the Brethren that Past Master Rogers Treasurer would occupy the chair , which proposition was received with approbation .

Bro . Rogers informed the Brethren that he intended to rehearse the third ceremony , and Bro . Rockman , who was raised at the emergency meeting of the Westbourne Lodge , as reported in our last issue , offered himself as the candidate . He was examined and entrusted , and the ceremony of raising was gone through . As this was the first occasion on

which we have witnessed the working of Bro . R . J . Rogers we cannot allow the opportunity to slip of congratulating him on his very perfect method of giving this important ceremony . No wonder the Brethren of the Westbourne Lodge are proud of him , or that they honour him with the post of Treasurer of the Lodge of Instruction .

Bro . Rockman was elected a member of the Lodge , and Bro . George Weaver selected for the office of W . M . at the next meeting . Bro . Dehane , in most flattering terms proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be passed , and recorded on the minutes , to the W . M . on this , the first occasion of his having working the ceremony in a Lodge of Instruction .

o o o WOODROW LODGE , No . 1708 . rpiHE members of this go ahead Lodge of Instruction held their usual JL meeting on Monday , at 3-30 , at Brother Rudderforth ' s ( Stone ' s ) Restaurant , Panton Street , Haymarket , when there were present : —Bros . W . West W . M ., A . VV . Musk S . W ., J . M . Klempiier J . vV ., C . Woodrow P . M . Preceptor , I . W . Simeons Secretary , B . IS ice S . D ., H . Wood J . D ., A . Butcher I . G ., Rudderforth P . M ., Wavell P . M ., Wetton P . M ., J . Morris , C . W . Dyer , A . Menn , H . S . Hyem , J . E . Culverhouse , and J . Wynman .

The W . M . commenced the proceedings by the rehearsal of the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Wetton being the candidate . He then kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Klempner J . W ., and Bro . West took the chair so vacated . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the W . M . intimated

his intention of rehearsing the third ceremony , for which Bro . Culverhouse was accepted as candidate . He was examined and entrusted , the Lodge advanced to the third degree , and the ceremony was gone through in a perfect manner . Bro . West W . M . resumed his chair and closed the Lodge down to the first degree .

Next Monday has been fixed for the rehearsal of the ceremony of installation , and Bro . C . Wetton W . M . 2087 will occupy the chair of K . S . on that occasion . Bro . A . W . Musk was elected as W . M . for Monday , 31 st inst . After hearty good wishes to Bro . West the Lodge was closed in regular form ,
