THE Royal Birthday Number of " Mothers and Daughters , " with ts heraldic coloured cover and large presentation portrait of the Queen ( measuring 20 by 25 inches ) makes a splendid commencement of the new weekly issue . The portrait is one of the most recent and most striking , and will make a worthy souvenir of a great occasion . In connection with an article on Kensington Palace , where our Gcacious Sovereign first saw the light , 78 years ago , the Editress has been fortunate enough to secure an
illustration of the Royal Nursery , with some of the toys of the future Queen still in position . There is also the first of a series of articles on some Royal English Mothers , a Letter from Paris with three illustrations of the latest fashions , an announcement of an easy Prize Competition in which the prize is a fortnight ' s holiday at the seaside or ten days on the Continent , two stories , and many other interesting items . While not disdaining the description of dress and fashion , the note of "Mothers and Daughters " is somewhat higher than many of the papers issued especially for women .
