Panmure General Lodge of Instruction . —The second Craft meeting of this Lodge of Instruction was held at the Antelope Tavern , Loru-road , Brixton , on Thursday evening , tho 20 th inst . Bros . The minutes of the former Craft meeting having been confirmed , the ceremonies of the second and third degrees were ably rehearsed . of the general Lodge . Bro . Francis was elected W . M . for the next Craft meeting , to be held on tho first Thursday in July , and the Lodgo was closed in peace and harmony . Tho Eoyal Arch ceremony will be worked by Companions connected Avith this general Lodge on Thursday evening next at 8 o ' clock .

This method of presenting a retiring Master of

No . 78 G Avith something moro truly Masonic than a Past Master ' s jewel is highly noteworthy . It was announced at this time in the labours of the Lodge , that it was the Worshipful Master ' s command that the brethieu adjourn to banquet . The Croxteth United Service is a very happy , compact , and as regards tho services , well represented Lodgo . Tho military costumes of a number of brethren had

a brilliant effect , as they intermingled with thoso of less striking attire . After tho brethren had done justice to a seasonably selected and Avell catered ¦ menu , tho Worshipfnl Master rose , for tho first timo , to propose the toast of tho Queen , which was drunk with enthusiasm , the brethren singing the National Anthem . Tho next toast thafc W . Bro . Wright had to propose Avas His Eoyal Highness the Priuce

of Wales , the Princess of Wales , and the rest of the Eoyal Family , which Avas heartily received , accompanied Avith tho anthem , " God Bless tho Prince of Wales . " Tho third toast , Our Masonic Eulers , Supreme and Subordinate , Avas next proposed , and cordially drunk , after which the I . P . M ., by permission of tho Worshipfnl Master , assumed control of the gavel , to propose the next toast , and in doing

so , said it Avas a matter of great pleasure to him to give the health of their UOAV W . Master . He said ho felt great gratification iu seeing Bro . Wright occupying the exalted post ho so justly merited , as they all know hoAv faithfully he had Avorked to attain it . He wished the W . Bro . every happiness and prosperity in his year of office , and ho know ho had the entire support and sympathy of the brethren . He

earnestly hoped and confidently believed that t he Lodge during his term of office Avould be more prosperous than in the preceding year . The toast was drunk Avith great cordiality . Bro . Deuchar favoured the brethren with a song . The Worshipful Master in responding to the toast said , Worthy and Worshipfnl brethren , there aro certain positions and periods in one ' s life which call forth tho deepest

and most active sympathies , and nnder such peculiar influences it is very difficult to express and convey adequately the extent of one ' s feelings . I have arrived at that peculiar period , and am placed in that delicate position , and Avords fail to express bow deeply and truly I feel the responsibility of my exalted office . The cordial manner in Avhich our worthy I . P . M . has proposed this toast , and the hearty

manner in Avhich it has been received by you , impresses me greatly , and such fraternal expressions have been the means of making the arduous duties of the Master a pleasure , and tend to inspire redoubled energy into the Avork , and make this Lodge hold such a good and compact position among its sister Lodges . I know yon all desire the future prosperity of tho Lodge to be equal

to that of the past , and I sincerely reciprocate that feeling , and nothing shall be wanting on my part to ensure the attainment of so desirable an end . Brethren , I have now a particular pleasure , as well as a duty , devolving upon me , in proposing the next toast . During the past year we have been under the Bfastcrship of a Brother Avho has advanced the interests of

the Lodge , performed his difficult duties Avith punctuality , efficiency , and zeal , and during his term we havo upon all occasions seen his goodAvill toAvards the Craft , and that excellent trait of a Mason , brotherly loA'e shown towards us to the utmost . I should bo Avanting in my duty to our I . P . M ., as well as to the Lodge , if , in proposing his health , I said less than I have . As a crowning point to his many

excellencies , yon have seen and admired the admirable manner in Avhich he has done the duties of Installing Master to-night . I noAV ask you to drink to the health of our esteemed and Avorthy I . P . M . in tho most cordial manner . The toast was drunk Avith mnsical honours . During the interval Bro . Tompkinson kindly responded to the call for a song . The I . P . M ., on rising to return thanks for the very kind

manner in which his name had been brought before tho brethren , and so warmly received , said he looked back upon his year of office Avith great pleasure , but the position he had attained was one Avhich he had looked fonvard to Avith equal pleasure , and as the I . P . M . he Avould render every aid in his power for tho interests of the Lodge . The toast of the Past Masters Avas very tersely put by tho W . M ., and

Bro . Newman replied in as short and appropriate a manner as possible . Bro . Holt i ' olloAved , and copied the same example as regards brevity . Bro . Wise favoured the brethren with a very humorous song . The next toast , that of the Officers , Avas given with considerable ability , in his remarks the W . M . alluded to the absolute necessity of tho various offices being punctually and

efficiently filled , so that the Master might have proper support , and that good , steady , practical working might bo the prevailing characteristic of every officer . Bro . Tompkinson again volunteered a song . Bro . Bailey , in responding to tho toast said , he was exceedingly pleased to reply to tho toast from the West , and while feeling confident of being able to perform the duties devolving upon him in his

ncAV office , he looked forward to the time when , as a result of his discharging his present office to the satisfaction of all , he would bo able to attain tho exalted post in the East . The other Officers followed , and returned thanks , after Avhich the Worshipful Master gave the toast of the Visitors , and in doing so said he had experienced great kindness from every Lodge he had visited , and ho Avas sure that

the brethren regretted as much as ho did they were not favoured with a larger response to tho invitations sent out . He had , in visiting as often as possible , gleaned a great deal of useful information , and expressed an opinion if there Avere more visiting done there Avould bo less likelihood of divergence from that uniformity in our ritual which Avas so much to be desired . The W . Brother kindly alluded

to the presence of Bro . Davies , who had faithfully responded to tho invitation , and informed the brethren that ho had great pleasure iu forming the acquaintance of that brother Avho he regarded as a thorough Mason , and said that there Avould always be the same cordial welcome extended towards him at all times in No . 78 G . The toast was drunk Avith musical honours . Bro . Davies responded , and

The cordial manner in Avhich our worthy I . P . M . has proposed this toast , and the hearty

manner in Avhich it has been received by you , impresses me greatly , and such fraternal expressions have been the means of making the arduous duties of the Master a pleasure , and tend to inspire redoubled energy into the Avork , and make this Lodge hold such a good and compact position among its sister Lodges . I know yon all desire the future prosperity of tho Lodge to be equal

to that of the past , and I sincerely reciprocate that feeling , and nothing shall be wanting on my part to ensure the attainment of so desirable an end . Brethren , I have now a particular pleasure , as well as a duty , devolving upon me , in proposing the next toast . During the past year we have been under the Bfastcrship of a Brother Avho has advanced the interests of

the Lodge , performed his difficult duties Avith punctuality , efficiency , and zeal , and during his term we havo upon all occasions seen his goodAvill toAvards the Craft , and that excellent trait of a Mason , brotherly loA'e shown towards us to the utmost . I should bo Avanting in my duty to our I . P . M ., as well as to the Lodge , if , in proposing his health , I said less than I have . As a crowning point to his many

excellencies , yon have seen and admired the admirable manner in Avhich he has done the duties of Installing Master to-night . I noAV ask you to drink to the health of our esteemed and Avorthy I . P . M . in tho most cordial manner . The toast was drunk Avith mnsical honours . During the interval Bro . Tompkinson kindly responded to the call for a song . The I . P . M ., on rising to return thanks for the very kind

manner in which his name had been brought before tho brethren , and so warmly received , said he looked back upon his year of office Avith great pleasure , but the position he had attained was one Avhich he had looked fonvard to Avith equal pleasure , and as the I . P . M . he Avould render every aid in his power for tho interests of the Lodge . The toast of the Past Masters Avas very tersely put by tho W . M ., and

Bro . Newman replied in as short and appropriate a manner as possible . Bro . Holt i ' olloAved , and copied the same example as regards brevity . Bro . Wise favoured the brethren with a very humorous song . The next toast , that of the Officers , Avas given with considerable ability , in his remarks the W . M . alluded to the absolute necessity of tho various offices being punctually and

efficiently filled , so that the Master might have proper support , and that good , steady , practical working might bo the prevailing characteristic of every officer . Bro . Tompkinson again volunteered a song . Bro . Bailey , in responding to tho toast said , he was exceedingly pleased to reply to tho toast from the West , and while feeling confident of being able to perform the duties devolving upon him in his

ncAV office , he looked forward to the time when , as a result of his discharging his present office to the satisfaction of all , he would bo able to attain tho exalted post in the East . The other Officers followed , and returned thanks , after Avhich the Worshipful Master gave the toast of the Visitors , and in doing so said he had experienced great kindness from every Lodge he had visited , and ho Avas sure that

the brethren regretted as much as ho did they were not favoured with a larger response to tho invitations sent out . He had , in visiting as often as possible , gleaned a great deal of useful information , and expressed an opinion if there Avere more visiting done there Avould bo less likelihood of divergence from that uniformity in our ritual which Avas so much to be desired . The W . Brother kindly alluded

to the presence of Bro . Davies , who had faithfully responded to tho invitation , and informed the brethren that ho had great pleasure iu forming the acquaintance of that brother Avho he regarded as a thorough Mason , and said that there Avould always be the same cordial welcome extended towards him at all times in No . 78 G . The toast was drunk Avith musical honours . Bro . Davies responded , and
