Masters—Bros . Knight , Eobinson , Brown , and Lunt . The minutes of previous meeting wero read and found correct ; the Worshipful Master then initiated Mr . S . Jude into Freemasonry , after which the ballot Avas taken for the election of W . M ., followed by thafc for Treasurer . Bro . J . Windsor S . W . was elected to tho former , and Bro . S . J . McGeorge P . M . re-elected to the latter office , for the

ensning twelve months . Ifc was proposed by Bro . Geo . Broadbndge , and seconded by Bro . Eobinson , that the usual grant of five pounds be voted to the Belief Committee from tho funds of the Lodgecarried . It was proposed by Bro . Geo . Broadbridge , and seconded by Bro . McGeorge , that the customary P . M . 's joAvel be voted to tho W . M . on his retiring from the chair . Bro . Latta proposed an

amendment , Avhich was seconded by Bro . Stainbnry , that the sum of seven guineas be voted from the funds of the Lodge for the purchase of said Past Master ' s jewel—carried . Bro . Brown proposed , nnd Bro . Windsor seconded the voto of five pounds from the funds of the Lodgo for a benevolent purpose—carried unanimously . Before closing the Lodgo , the Worshipfnl Master availed himself of tho

opportunity of testifying his regard for the noble Lodge he had presided over dnring the past tAvelvo months . W . Bro . Peet announced , in a few appropriate and touching remarks , that he had taken npon himself to present what he considered would be acquisitions to tho pedestals in tho Avest and south . He trusted the Lodgo AA-onld accept from him , on his retiring from the chair , two exquisitely

finished and massive brazen columns , and tAvo gavels . Ifc can be readily understood that such timely and valuable gifts will be highly prized by the brethren of No . 241 , nnd they will be handed down to future generations as a fitting souvenir of the generous donor , whose name will be linked thereAvith as one of the most esteemed Masters that tho Merchants' Lodgo has had the good

fortune to reckon among Us own . Ou the presentation being accomplished , Bro . McGeorge , P . M . and Treas ., proposed that the gift to the Lodge be accepted , and that a vote of thanks be tendered the Worshipful Master from the Lodge , and entered on tho minntes , for the handsome presentation . The above motion was seconded and carried unanimously . The Lodge was then closed with solemn prayer , and tho brethren adjourned to refreshment .

Doric Lodge of Instruction , No . 933 . —Held its weekly meeting at Bro . Clayton ' s , the Duke ' s Head , Whitechapel-road , on Friday , the 14 th instant , Bros . Butter W . M ., Job S . W ., Wallington J . W ., Waterer S . D ., I . P . Cohen J . D ., McDonald I . G ., Musto Hon . Sec . ; also a large number of brethren , including the following Past Masters : —Bros . Myers , Koch , Barnes , Scott , Hogg , Atkins , Cundick ,

iv / c . Tho Lodge was opened in dne form with prayer , and tho minntes read and confirmed ; the Lodge was opened np , and the W . M . Avorked the installation ceremony in a most impressive manner , after which ho rehearsed the ceremony of passing . Bro . Barnes proposed that a vote of thanks be recorded on the minntes to the W . M . for the able manner in which ho had performed his duties , and thafc he be elected an honorary

member of the Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Barnes , in the course of his remarks , said he Avas pleased thafc upon him devolved the duty to move this resolution ; ho had had a large experience in working the ceremonies , including that of installation , and he mnst say , and felt sure every Past Master present would confirm tho statement , thafc ifc was nofc often the ceremony , in its entirety , was so well

performed as ifc had been thafc evening , especially so if ifc were taken into account that Bro . Butter had rehearsed it only once before . Moreover , Bro . Butter had broken away from the traditions of tho locality in which his sphere of action lies , and had como to the fountain whence the method he had adopted sprung—to a Lodge of Instruction noted for tho nnmber and excel

lence of its workers j and where his work was sure—not unkindly , bufc closely—to be scanned and criticised ; circumstances likely to unnerve even the most expert , bnt more especially so the novice . Bro . Butter had , however , passed the ordeal with great credit to himself , and ho ( Bro . Barnes ) was sure to the satisfaction of every brother present . The proposition WHS seconded by Bro . Cnndick , Preceptor

of the Lodge , and unanimously carried . Bro . Butter expressed his deep sense of the obligations he was under , nofc only to the brethreu , for so courteously allowing him the privilege of occupying the chair in a Lodge so justly celebrated for its excellent working , —he hailing from a Provincial Lodge , —but also to the P . M . ' s , for the invaluable aid he had received . To his esteemed friend Bro . Musto ,

the Hon . Secretary of the Lodge , he was especially indebted ; Bro . Musto was aware that he ( Bro . Butter ) had shortly , in his mother Lodge , to instal his successor , and had , in this kind manner , invited him to rehearse the ceremony at the Doric Lodge of Instruction . Bro P . M . Musto had further rendered him material assistance in over .

coming the difficulties of the ceremony , and had in a great measure contlnced to that success the brethren had so pleasantly recognised .
