the next meeting . Petitions to Grand Lodge were considered and dealt with , and after other routine business was gone through the Lodge was closed , the meeting adjourned to 2 nd November , and the Brethren assembled in the banqueting hall , where an excellent repast had been provided , which gave general satisfaction . The Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and responded to , interspersed with songs , recitations and instrumental music .

THE first meeting after the recess of this flourishing Lodge was held at the Alexandra Hotel , Clapham Common , on Wednesday evening , under the presidency of the popular Master Bro . Thomas Morris , who was one of the Founders of the Lodge . Among others present were Bros . A . Robertson S . W ., G . F . Winny J . W ., Robert Steele P . M . Treasurer , J . W . Folkard P . M . Secretary , J . Mitchell

After the Lodge was opened the minutes of the regular May meeting and the June emergency meeting were read and confirmed . Bros . Hill , Kingston , Merrett , and Simmons were impressively raised by Bro . John Mitchell I . P . M ., who was ably supported by the whole of the Officers of the Lodge .
Ballot was taken lor and proved in favour of Messrs . Ballard and Oswald , who were initiated into the mysteries of the Order in a manner that entirely met the approval of the most critical . A notice of motion by Bro . Charlie Woods was postponed , as he had been forced to leave early . Sympathy was expressed for the family of the late Bro . C . J . F . Shannaw , one of the Founders of the Lodge , who had died since the last meeting .
All Masonic business being ended the Brethren dined together under the presidency of the W . M ., and afterwards passed a very happy time in ful harmony . Bro . 3 . Cochrane P . G . Treas ., in thanking the Brethren for the toast of the Grand Officers , pointed out that as " father " of the Lodge , and its first Master , he was more than delighted with its progress .
The toast of " Our Master " was proposed by Bro . 3 . Mitchell in a felicitous manner . Bro . Morris was not only respected for his sterling merit , but also loved for his interest and attention to any good work that he took in band . The W . M . responded , thanking the Brethren , and expressing his feeling of the responsibility of his office .
The W . M . proposed the Initiates , both of whom responded ; the Past Master , Treasurer , and Secretary , all of whom replied . For the Visitors all present responded . Each had been pleased with the work , the harmony of the Lodge , and its hospitality .
The S . W . and J . W . responded for the Officers . The meeting closed with the Tyler ' s toast . Songs and recitations were contributed during tho evening by Bros . Robertson , Wilfred Stracey , H . Mitchell , Oswald , Simmons , and Baker , while Bro . Winny ably presided at the pianoforte .

The Lodge being regularly opened and the minutes confirmed Bros . T . Palmer , C . Greaves , and J . Bennett were examined as Fellow Crafts , and having given proofs of their proficiency they were entrusted and in due course raised to the third degree of Master Mason . The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , when Messrs . F . Fleming , T . Aylett , C Hawes , and R . Seagar were admitted , after a successful ballot , as candidates for Freemasonry , and were regularly initiated into the mysteries of the Order .
After other business the Lodge was closed and the Brethren adjourned to the banquet room , where an excellent repast was provided . The customary toast list was afterwards honoured , interspersed with songs , & c , which added to the pleasures of an enjoyable meeting .

By desire of the W . M . the Preceptor of the Lodge worked the first section , assisted by the Brethren . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Holland acting as the candidate . The W . M . then vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Goldstein , who rehearsed the third ceremony , with Bro . Woolfers personating the candidate .

IMPERIAL LODGE , No . 1694 . rriHAT there is room in the metropolis for additional Lodges of Instruction I was made manifest on Tuesday , when this new Lodge was started in the comfortable Masonic Rooms at the house of Bro . Douglas White , the Pier Hotel , Chelsea . The meeting was presided over by Bro . Braddick as W . M ., with Bros . M . W . Fountain Wood S . W ., R . Bradley J . W ., R . J . Olive P . M . Preceptor , A .
Schott Sec , G . White S . D ., A . C . Mead J . D ., A . Saunders I . G ., H . Beauchamp P . M . 144 , R . Moody P . M . 1420 , W . Thwaites P . M . 511 , J . W . Facey W . M . 1767 , R . Sexton W . The W . M . congratulated those present on having succeeded in getting such beautiful rooms for the practice of their Masonic work , and felt they were all greatly indebted to the genial host Bro . Douglas White for having so largely assisted in the formation of the Lodge , he having presented them with the collars , columns , jewels and tracing boards .
Bro . Wood S . W . said the liberality ot different Brethren had enabled them to start fully equipped and free from debt , aud he proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to those Brethren who had so kindly helped them to furnish the Lodge . This was heartily agreed to .
Bro . Douglas White was very pleased to hear that the Worshipful Master and Brethren were satisfied with the presents he had given the Lodge , and he hoped the Brethren would use them for many years to come . What he had done was purely for the love of Freemasonry . Other Brethren also responded .
The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , with Brother Vicani acting as candidate . We highly compliment Bro . Braddick on . the first work in the Lodge—it was admirably rendered , and fully deserved the voto of thanks passed to him at the conclusion . Several Brethren were enrolled as members of the Lodge . Bro . Wood was chosen as Master for next week , and the proceedings terminated .

On the proposition of Bra . A . Williams a hearty vote of thanks was ordered to be placed on the minutes congratulating Bro . Wilkins on the admirable manner in which he had carried out the duties of the chair for the first time iu this or any other Lodge of Instruction . Before the closing of the Lodge Bro . Williams asked the Brethren to continue to support the West Loudon Masonic Election Association with their own and other Brethren's votes .

A ballot for five guineas to be paid into one of the Masouic Institutions was won by Bro . Wilkins . A vote of thanks was unanimously given to the scrutineers , and Bro . Powell was elected to fill the W . M . ' s chair at the next meeting .
