Grand Chapter , holden at Leeds on the 3 rd May , marked in some measure the close of the first epooh iu West Yorkshire of Royal Arch Masonry , whilst our assembly to . day at Dewsbury surely inaugurates the commencement of a second auspicious period ofthia exalted Order

of tho Craft in this Proviucp . It was with no common feelings of pleasure that au invitation was received from Comp . Dr . W . P . Wiifcta Z .. to meet under the banner

of Three Grand Principles , No . 20 S , this afternoon ; and we acknowledge tho kindness of the Worshipful the Mayor-, Comp . Alderinau George Clay , J . P ., who invites the Companions to bo his guests after the transaction of our business , and to inspect tho magnificent Town Hall .

These invitations must have called to the recollections of our Companions the reasons why special cordiality in asking this Grand Chapter to tho aucient Saxon town of " Dowsberia " ( as it ia named in Domesday Book ) has been exercised in BO marked a manner . Companions , this is tho 50 th meeting of Provincial Grand Chapter , which was established at Dewsbury ou the 5 th of May 1858 .

In that year the first meeting was held , under tho banner of Three Grand Principles , then 251 , uow 20 S , and this is thc 7 th meeting held in this antient village of Dui or Dew , the original p lanter who , previous to the arrival of Pauliuus , had fixed his abode and fortified his " Burgh . " It is to yonr Snpoiintentlent , also , no ordinary occasion , because l further reminds him that he outers the 33 rd year of hia Masonic 1 " ° »
